This 3 bedroom apartment spans 2 levels in a new and tastefully designed chalet style building facing southeast and affording marvellous views across the Val d’Hérens towards the Dent Blanche and Matterhorn. The apartment features a sunny living area with a spectacular double height ceiling and wraparound views in 3 directions. It has been styled to blends its traditional wooden construction with contemporary interiors and furnishings. On the lower level there is a seating area around a wood burning stove, a dining area (seats 12), and a marble topped, open plan kitchen. The apartment has two adult bedrooms (1 with king size bed, 1 with twin beds). The children’s bedroom contains 1 single bed, a 2nd pull-out bed and a bunk bed leading to a secret hideaway platform with crows nest views. The upstairs living area has a second sitting area with two sofa beds that can be used as a fourth sleeping area. There are 2 bathrooms (1 bath, 1 shower).

ROC BLEU - A MOUTH WATERING BREAK

After a breathtaking climb from Sion – going ever higher reaching approximately 1500m, we arrived at our wonderful holiday retreat – an apartment called Roc Bleu.
Upon entering the apartment we immediately felt at home. The place was fresh looking and very clean. It’s design – modern and up to date with an open plan kitchen, living room and dining room. Every effort was made to maximize the space – every nook and cranny was cleverly designed.
The large windows and doors opening to the veranda gave us all maximum opportunity to see the stunning views at every angle. Directly facing us was Mont Dent Blanche – highest mountain in the vicinity. We could also see Le Grand Dixence to the right, and the scenery all around was just beautiful.
The apartment was very well equipped – ensuring that we as its guests had everything we needed for our two week stay. Our younger children loved their little hideaway in their private space above the bunk bed in the children’s room.
We were delighted that internet access had been made possible – even at great heights.
All in all, we had a tremendous holiday and were rather sad when it was time for us to go home as we found the two weeks plus had flown past. We would love to come again in the not too distant future.

AN UNEXPECTED DREAM HOLIDAY

I was a little sceptical about this holiday to say the least. My partner and two ski-crazy friends had persuaded me, a non-skier, to come along on a skiing holiday. The things we do for love, I thought as I packed my bag. I was prepared to spend most days on my own while everyone went out skiing. I expected the incredible tales of how challenging this tour had been and how splendid the views had been over there. And these come for sure. The skiing apparently was absolutely fantastic. Snow conditions just perfect, bla, bla, bla. What I didn’t expect was what a great time I had. This was down to three things really: my kindle stocked up with 7 great novels (The Help (Catherine Stockett) got top rating of them all!), the fantastic views all around from basically every window, and last but not least the feel good factor about the entire place we had found. I think I can say without lying that it was the nicest rental place I have ever stayed. Great furniture, cool crockery, and just a perfect mix of chalet meets modern taste. O and yes, the weather was good too. Spring sun in the mountains is unbeatable. Lying in the deck chair on the balcony with a glass of cooled local white wine I thought I was in the most glorious place there is on earth.

SCHÖN GELEGENE FERIENWOHNUNG!

Wir waren im März 2011 mit 4 Personen in der Ferienwohnung. Wir haben uns sofort sehr wohlgefühlt und fanden die Aussicht traumhaft schön. Viele Fenster mit immer einer anderen Aussicht. Die Ausstattung war sehr gut, es fehlte fast nichts. (Allerdings haben wir die Kaffeemaschine vergeblich gesucht !) Im Badezimmer gibt es keine Steckdosen, was eigentlich überhaupt nicht geht, so mussten wir uns mit einer Verlängerungsschnur die Haare im Flur föhnen. Es fehlte auch eine Glaswand in der Dusche, was das duschen etwas schwierig machte, da der Boden doch sehr nass wurde. Im unteren Schlafzimmer bekommt man von oben jedes klitzekleine Geräusch mit. (sehr hellhörig) Im oberen Badezimmer war die Abluft defekt. (Badezimmer hat kein Fenster!) Die Galerie mit dem Sofa ist super schön. Wir fanden es auch gar nicht schlimm, das der Fernseher nicht in Betrieb war. So kann man herrlich entspannen.

Aber ansonsten war alles Ok, wir hatten nur Sonnenschein und trotzdem es nicht viel Schnee hatte, konnte man noch gut fahren. Das Skigebiet ist sehr vielfältig und es gibt einige schöne Hütten. Leider gibt es aber auch noch sehr viele Tellerlifte, die sehr lang sind. Etwas unterhalb des Hauses kann man gut im kleinen Lädchen einkaufen. Super leckere Brötchen!!!

Estuvimos el verano pasado dos familias con dos niños. La casa era perfecta, muy amplia, y con todo lo que necesitabamos. Lo mejor de todo... la tranquilidad y las vistas. TOTALMENTE RECOMENDABLE.

The apartment is situated at an altitude of 1600m on the pastures of Les Masses, which afford wide open views to the south into two valleys. The ski lift, 350m from the apartment, gives access to the enormous 4 Vallées ski area offering marvellous skiing at all levels. The nearest skiing area at Thyon is uncrowded and suitable for beginners, but also has more challenging runs, including the famous piste de l’ours. Skiers can reach the Verbier area in an hour via connected lifts. There are many opportunities for cross country skiing and snow shoe walking. In summer Les Masses provides an ideal base for challenging mountain hikes, as well as more sedate local walks through pastures, woods, and traditional farming villages. There is a small, but well equipped shop, and a ggod local restaurant 5 minutes walk from apartment. Complete facilities are available in Les Collons (3 km). The stunning medieval town of Sion is 20 minutes away with its twin castles and excellent wineries.

Ski: Skiing in les Masses: Les Masses is located at the northern and uncrowded end of the vast 4 Vallées skiing area that offers almost limitless skiing opportunities that will keep everyone happy. Ranging from 1500m to well over 3000m, the area is snow sure, and enjoys a long season from early December to mid April. The apartment is an easily walkable (or skiable for intermediate skiers) 350 metres from the chairlift. A red run leads back down the mountain, and better skiers can branch off directly to the apartment. Less confident skiers can take the chairlift down, or use the regular skibus, which stops very close to the apartment. The nearby skiing area of Thyon offers comprehensive facilities (ski schools, rentals), and offers wide gentle sunny slopes, which are perfect for beginners. More adventurous skiers do not have to ski far from the apartment to find challenging runs and off-piste. Those in search of truly epic terrain can ski across to the Verbier area in an hour.

The apartment has two living room areas, one of which could be used as an additional bedroom using the sofa bed. There is an easy to use wood burning stove in the living room, which provides a beautiful, yet safe view on an open fire through a self cleaning window pane. Firewood is included in the rental price. The ground floor has under floor heating. All electricity is generated by the local hydropower station. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped with plenty of cutlery and crockery and everything you would expect to find in your kitchen at home, including a dishwasher. There is also a communal utility room with washing machine and drier, and an area to store skis and dry your ski boots.
