Photos and Description of the Betera vacation rental self catering family break for up to 5 people, near Valencia city and beach

A cross between a guest house and a private villa (at a fraction of the cost!), as we only ever accept one group of guests at a time. Enjoy all the facilities of this spacious villa set in 1 acre of shady gardens, with it's large private pool area, as though it were your own home, but I live here too to maintain the pool and gardens (with my two boys 12 and 14 and 2 small dogs) although we will try and stay out of your way, so that it feels more like your private villa. Your kids are very welcome to use all our games, ping pong, table football, scaletrix, basketball and tennis, ps2 and x-box whenever you like. Please beware however, if you have toddlers, that we have a large unfenced pond (where you can fish for goldfish!), and the fencing around the pool is not exactly child proof! Horse-riding stables nearby offer excursions for more advanced riders. We also have a small petting farm area with 2 pet goats and chickens. If you like animals, this is the holiday for you!

Treat the whole villa as your own. Cook in the kitchen or on the BBQ whenever you like. Eat in the dining room, on the veranda or down by the pool. Your bedrooms consist of one large double with quality queen size bed, and a much larger room with a Queen bed and a single bed. The bathroom is a large full bathroom with a shower and bath. All sheets and towels are provided, and if you have forgotten anything we are sure to have one that you can borrow! You will be the only guests here and we want you to feel right at home. Come and go as you please all day long. We aim to make you feel as though you own the villa, but I am around to maintain it and sort out any problems that you may have, and can give you some tourist tips. Our dogs are extremely friendly and come into the house, but not the bedrooms. If you don't like dogs, this isn't the place for you! If your kids like dogs, this definitely IS the place for you! They sleep inside at night so there is no night time barking!

Set amongst the orange groves of Valencia, this property has a rural feel yet is close to all amenities. A 5 minute drive to the town of Betera (metro station), 20 minutes from the international airport or city centre, 30 minutes from the beaches, 1.5 hours from the ski fields, 30 mins from the Cheste motorbike race track, under 2 hours to Alicante. Ideal for cycling, walking, painting, horse riding or just a base to see the wonderful sights of the Valencia province. Great for Fallas (far enough away from the fireworks that you can sleep!) 20 minutes from Bonaire clothes shopping centre and factory outlet. 1hr drive to stalactite caves, natural springs and some fascinating Spanish villages built into high rock faces. Water parks around 1 hr drive north or south. The big theme parks of Benidorm are less than 2hrs away. 15mins by car is the Kinepolis entertainment complex with bowling/ trampolining/ laser games, cinemas and a large choice in restaurants. Golf 10 mins drive.

  • Very large bathroom in a rather amazing 70's sky blue tiled effect! Full bath and shower over the bath. Plenty of room to manoeuvre! Never ending hot water on a continuous gas HWS.

  • 1 double as per photo, quality furniture, good sheets and top quality queen sized mattress. Very light room with a view to the pool area. 1 triple, a quality queen sized bed and a single bed in plenty of space, a cooler darker room with views of the palm trees in the garden. Both rooms have wooden shutters for complete darkness if desired. Fans are provided for the summer, but the house is generally cool due to the large terrace, shady gardens and a breeze most of the time. Plenty of linen is provided both for inside the house and to take to the pool and beach. You are welcome to use the washing machine should you wish to.

Notes: Children are very welcome. Preferably babies or above 5 years old. 1-5yr olds at parents discretion, but safety is an issue with a large unfenced pond and garage full of tools etc. I have 2 boys of 12 and 14 years old, and hence we have all the games that your average youngster can't live without, and your children are very welcome to use. Pets welcome in most cases - as long as they are likely to get on with our pets! 2 small - med very friendly dogs (plus 2 goats, and 5 chickens in fenced off 'farmlet'.) It is best if you are animal friendly as our dogs are allowed in the living areas of the house, but not the bedrooms. It is preferably totally self catering, but breakfast can be arranged for slightly extra, and on occasion we can organise dinner/lunch for guests with a bit of notice, at extra charge. there is a take-away paella shop on the estate, and lots of restaurants to suit all tastes within 15mins.

Bilingual.: We are bilingual here, and can help you along with your Spanish. 'Spanish for starters' lessons can be arranged at 20Euros for an hour and a half.

horse-riding: A stables is only 5 minutes away, and can organise lessons in basic to advanced horsemanship and show jumping. For more advance riders treks of varying lengths, including overnight treks can be organised. The treks take you through beautiful pine forest and orange groves, and are delightful.

Golf: 10 minutes away is the Golf Course of Escorpion Betera, and half an hour away, the El Bosque golf course.

The general feedback has been - one star for service but five stars for hospitality! We aren't here to turn your bed down every night and polish the silver for the breakfast, but you can take over the house as if it were yours and there will be no complaints! It's not the place for a pampered break, it's more like home away from home!
