French stone barns have been lovingly converted into the three large cottages, Les Fleurs, Le Chene and Les Hirondelles. Le Petit Cottage is an adjacent, smaller, stone barn. La Tenue au Galli offers flexible accommodation. Each cottage is sufficiently private to be rented by itself but the cottages may also be combined to accommodate groups of all sizes up to 20 people. The largest cottage, Les Fleurs, is designed for easy wheelchair access. All cottages are characterised by their exposed granite walls, huge, original oak beams, light and spacious living areas and comfortable, homely furniture. Great care has been taken to retain as many of the original features of the buildings as possible whilst also providing modern, fully equipped kitchens, well appointed bathrooms and central heating throughout. Outside, each cottage has its own patio area with a barbeque, table and chairs. The swimming and spa pool are set in the middle of a shared lawned garden surrounded by flowers.

Nearest Ferry: St Malo at 150 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Questembert at 10 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 20.0 Kilometres

The nearest boulangerie, village shops, restaurant and bars are an easy three minute stroll along the lane in Pluherlin. The beautiful Breton towns of Questembert, Vannes, la Roche Bernard, la Baule, Guerande, Redon and Josselin are all within easy driving distance, as are the Golfe de Morbihan, Parc de Prehistoire, the Tropical Parc and beaches at Damgan and Carnac. Nearby (1km) picturesque Rochefort en Terre is a very pretty French village dating back at least as far as the 12th Century. It offers a chateau, restaurants, crêperies, local produce shops, potteries, a medieval church and antique shops. All are stunningly decorated with flowers. In fact there is so much to see a week is not long enough. Questembert is famous locally for its 16th century covered market place. It is just a 15 minute drive from Pluherlin and has a market every Monday. Vannes is a beautiful medieval city with a walled centre and is only minutes from the famous Gulf of Morbihan.

Notes: This cottage is perfect for a couple or a family with older children. It is ideal for that romantic break or holiday. Situated on the edge of a village with restaurant, shop, baker, butcher and two bars. There is also a hairdressers and this is all within easy walking distance. It is possible to have a break without using the car to fetch that baguette.

The Perfect Retreat

I needed a place in France for 3 weeks to work remotely (Asian business hours), train for a marathon and relax with some authentic French country experience. Le Petit was better than I could have had hoped for.

The cottage is charming with modern kitchen and bathroom and clearly lovingly restored and furnished. I felt a bit like a (giant) hobbit in my cosy little stone cottage. But hobbits don't do email and VoIP but with the reliable and fast internet connection it was as if I was in my office in Tokyo. Plus excellent laundry facilities, bicycles to borrow, swimming pool etc.

Pluherlin is very quiet, peaceful (nothing to tempt me from a 10 pm lights out), but has all the basics - bakery, butcher, auberge, bar, general store and a church with lots of bells. The neighbouring village of Rochefort en Terre is ridiculously picturesque and only a decent walk away.

The owner Celia was available and extremely hospitable and helpful, but not intrusive.

The surrounding countryside has dozens of marked trails through farmland, parks, forests with great views, varied terrain and authentic rural smells - wildflowers, pines, pigs, cows, chickens etc. Celia has thoughfully provided a set of trail maps in the cottage which are now slightly used.

Beaches are 45 mins away so readily accessible without the traffic and noise associated with being too close.

Highly recommended. I will be back.

We rented Le Petit cottage, the smallist of 4 converted barns. We loved it, comfortable, homely, clean. The dishwasher was a bonus, plus central heating for chilly days. Deserted beaches within 20 mins drive. Beautiful lake within 5 mins walk. Tranquil location but well situated, however car is a must for sightseeing - . Made to feel very welcome by owner who was extremely helpful and informative. Very friendly village. Will definitely go back.
