Overview

Pluherlin Barn Rental Photos and Description

2 , 1 , 4-6 sleeps; 3 , 2 , 6- sleeps8; 4, 2, 8 sleeps; 1, 1, 2-4 sleeps

French stone barns have been lovingly converted into the three large cottages, Les Fleurs, Le Chene and Les Hirondelles. Le Petit Cottage is an adjacent, smaller, stone barn. La Tenue au Galli offers flexible accommodation with home from home comforts. Each cottage is sufficiently private to be rented by itself but the cottages may also be combined to accommodate groups of all sizes up to 20 people. The largest cottage, Les Fleurs, is designed for easy wheelchair access, with a ground floor bedroom with en-suite roll-in shower room specially equipped with grab rails, raised WC & adjustable washbasin.

Les Fleurs can be used as a one bedroomed apartment or can be combined with Le Chene to provide a 6 bedroomed cottage for larger family groups or friends.

All cottages are characterised by their exposed granite walls, huge, original oak beams, light and spacious living areas and comfortable, homely furniture. Great care has been taken to retain as many of the original features of the buildings as possible whilst also providing modern, fully equipped kitchens, well appointed bathrooms and central heating throughout. Outside, each cottage has its own patio area with a barbecue, table and chairs. The swimming and spa pool are set in the middle of a shared lawned garden surrounded by flowers.

Out of season Breaks.: Please visit my website address, contact for Link where you will find further information and photographs together with a booking form which can be downloaded, completed and returned to me by post with a cheque. Alternatively the form can be returned as an attachment to an email and payment can be made by bank transfer. Please contact the owner for bank details.

An ideal venue with flexible accommodation for families or groups wanting an out of season break - walking, cycling, fishing, bird watching ( The Gulf of Morbihan is famous for its migrating birds) or just chilling out from everyday stress, curled up with a good book by the fire. Visiting the many markets and sampling the local specialities or even having an Indian Head massage or reflexology session is another possibility.

Ferry Discounts: If you are thinking of travelling by Brittany Ferries the owner can offer you a 10% discount on ferry crossings, when booking a holiday with them. Please ask for the code when booking your holiday accommodation.

Christmas in France

  • 5 of 5
We were looking for a Christmas in winter as we are Australian. The barn that we stayed in was perfect. It was just like the site says. Celia was very helpful, friendly but not intrusive. When we had friends come to visit from England she accommodated them with no fuss. Also when the heating broke she had it fixed immediately. She made sure the phone call was responded to and gave us a heater while waiting for ours to be fixed. All with no fuss. The village or Pluherlin was very friendly with all that we needed for our day to day living. The villagers chatted to me when I was out walking and were patient with my limited French. The Supermarket and butcher were very friendly in the town. The town of Rochfort-en-terre was magical at Christmas and the people there were very nice. We ate at the Café de puis about three to four times and were always welcomed. The atmosphere was warm, the service efficient and Francois made us feel at home and was helpful with the French menu. I would thoroughly recommend the cottage and the area.

Owner's Response: A holiday is a special time in our lives, planned and looked forward to with excitement and anticipation. I strive to make that holiday as memorable as possible from behind the scenes, in being flexible and hopefully covering all eventualities. It is my pleasure to be told that a holiday has been enjoyed. I am lucky in that the area is picturesque and the local people are friendly and helpful. Local services and amenities are close by which leads to a relaxing, stress free time spent here. I always welcome comments and suggestions from visitors so that I can continue to improve what is available. Merci et Bientot.

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5
I needed a place in France for 3 weeks to work remotely (Asian business hours), train for a marathon and relax with some authentic French country experience. Le Petit was better than I could have had hoped for.

The cottage is charming with modern kitchen and bathroom and clearly lovingly restored and furnished. I felt a bit like a (giant) hobbit in my cosy little stone cottage. But hobbits don't do email and VoIP but with the reliable and fast internet connection it was as if I was in my office in Tokyo. Plus excellent laundry facilities, bicycles to borrow, swimming pool etc.

Pluherlin is very quiet, peaceful (nothing to tempt me from a 10 pm lights out), but has all the basics - bakery, butcher, auberge, bar, general store and a church with lots of bells. The neighbouring village of Rochefort en Terre is ridiculously picturesque and only a decent walk away.

The owner Celia was available and extremely hospitable and helpful, but not intrusive.

The surrounding countryside has dozens of marked trails through farmland, parks, forests with great views, varied terrain and authentic rural smells - wildflowers, pines, pigs, cows, chickens etc. Celia has thoughfully provided a set of trail maps in the cottage which are now slightly used.

Beaches are 45 mins away so readily accessible without the traffic and noise associated with being too close.

Highly recommended. I will be back.

Le Petit Cottage

  • 5 of 5
We rented Le Petit cottage, the smallist of 4 converted barns. We loved it, comfortable, homely, clean. The dishwasher was a bonus, plus central heating for chilly days. Deserted beaches within 20 mins drive. Beautiful lake within 5 mins walk. Tranquil location but well situated, however car is a must for sightseeing - . Made to feel very welcome by owner who was extremely helpful and informative. Very friendly village. Will definitely go back.

The nearest boulangerie, village shops, restaurant and bars are an easy three minute stroll along the lane in Pluherlin. The beautiful Breton towns of Questembert, Vannes, la Roche Bernard, la Baule, Guerande, Redon and Josselin are all within easy driving distance, as are the Golfe de Morbihan, Parc de Prehistoire, the Tropical Parc and beaches at Damgan and Carnac.

Nearby (1km) picturesque Rochefort en Terre is a very pretty French village dating back at least as far as the 12th Century. It offers a chateau, restaurants, crêperies, local produce shops, potteries, a medieval church and antique shops. All are stunningly decorated with flowers. In fact there is so much to see a week is not long enough.

Questembert is famous locally for its 16th century covered market place. It is just a 15 minute drive from Pluherlin and has a market every Monday.

Vannes is a beautiful medieval city with a walled centre and is only minutes from the famous Gulf of Morbihan. There is a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From Vannes one can take a boat trip for a tour of the Gulf de Morbihan.

Other Activities: bird watching around the golfe de Morbihan and the Briere national park.

There are nine golf courses within an hours drive Caden only 15 mins away.

The GR 38 footpath goes through Pluherlin and the Voie Vert is 10 mins drive to Questembert.

There are numerous footpaths around Pluherlin and Rochefort.

Megalithic sites are everywhere in the Morbihan Carnac being notably the largest.

The Tropical Parc and Branfrere zoological parc are interesting for both the gardens and animals.

The end of April beginning of May garden shows are very popular at Redon, Vannes, Josselin and every 5 yrs Nantes - Floralys 2014- 8 to 18 May
