Pluherlin Barn Rental Photos and Description

2 , 1 , 4-6 sleeps; 3 , 2 , 6- sleeps8; 4, 2, 8-10 sleeps; 1, 1, 2-4 sleeps

French stone barns have been lovingly converted into the three large cottages, Les Fleurs, Le Chene and Les Hirondelles. Le Petit Cottage is an adjacent, smaller, stone barn. La Tenue au Galli offers flexible accommodation. Each cottage is sufficiently private to be rented by itself but the cottages may also be combined to accommodate groups of all sizes up to 20 people. The largest cottage, Les Fleurs, is designed for easy wheelchair access.

All cottages are characterised by their exposed granite walls, huge, original oak beams, light and spacious living areas and comfortable, homely furniture. Great care has been taken to retain as many of the original features of the buildings as possible whilst also providing modern, fully equipped kitchens, well appointed bathrooms and central heating throughout. Outside, each cottage has its own patio area with a barbeque, table and chairs. The swimming and spa pool are set in the middle of a shared lawned garden surrounded by flowers.

Out of season Breaks.: Please visit my website address, contact for Link where you will find further information and photographs together with a booking form which can be downloaded, completed and returned to me by post with a cheque. An ideal venue with flexible accommodation for families or groups wanting an out of season break - walking, cycling, fishing, bird watching ( The Gulf of Morbihan is famous for its migrating birds) or just chilling out from everyday stress, curled up with a good book by the fire. Visiting the many markets and sampling the local specialities or even having an Indian Head massage or reflexology session is another possibility.

We would just like to take the time to thank you for making our stay so brilliant.... everything from your wonderful, fully equipped, cottage (which honestly did included every thing we would need at home. We have hired many cottages over the years and I always bring the little extras needed, but your cottage included them all and we could have saved room in the car).... to the brilliant pool/garden and bikes which we thought were all amazing... to your invaluable knowledge of the surrounding area. All these things included made the holiday very special for us and we wish we had booked for two weeks. Would highly recommend this cottage in a beautiful area of France, hope to visit again soon. Thank you Celia

A peaceful country retreat

We had a very warm welcome from Celia and a fantastic week at Le Chene. It is an authentic barn conversion, but with some nice modern touches like a substantial, top of the range shower. We particularly liked the eating out area overlooking the pool and garden. Pluherlin is a typical sleepy French village, with a handful of shops around the central church. We were there for the annual Fete du Pain which started with a parade through the village before the rest of the day was spent dancing, cider drinking, crepe eating and general rustic fun on the sports field. Le Chene is a two minute walk to the shops, and a ten minute walk in the other direction to the lake. Unfortunately after the Fete the boulanger was exhausted and so was closed for the rest of the week, but bread and croissants were still available from the little bar and the butcher. We had 2 teenagers with us who borrowed the bikes to cycle round the lake and, because the weather was so good, they spent alot of time in the well kept pool (no TV, a bonus in my book, board games were provided and we rediscovered Scrabble!) Tennis, badminton (take your own rackets), pedaloes etc also available at the lake and kept them busy while we enjoyed some of the many circular walks in the area. We BBQ'd nearly every night (mainly as an excuse to visit the village butcher who was such a lovely, jolly man) but the nearby delightful town of Rochefort had planty of options for creperies, pizzas, bars and cafes. It was a nice walk there, but probably wouldn't have walked home in dark. Best large supermarket was a 15 min drive away in Questembert. If you're after a restful stay in a typically French spot within striking distance of some interesting places (Vannes, Carnac, La Roche Bernard etc) then you can't go wrong here.

The nearest boulangerie, village shops, restaurant and bars are an easy three minute stroll along the lane in Pluherlin. The beautiful Breton towns of Questembert, Vannes, la Roche Bernard, la Baule, Guerande, Redon and Josselin are all within easy driving distance, as are the Golfe de Morbihan, Parc de Prehistoire, the Tropical Parc and beaches at Damgan and Carnac.

Nearby (1km) picturesque Rochefort en Terre is a very pretty French village dating back at least as far as the 12th Century. It offers a chateau, restaurants, crêperies, local produce shops, potteries, a medieval church and antique shops. All are stunningly decorated with flowers. In fact there is so much to see a week is not long enough.

Questembert is famous locally for its 16th century covered market place. It is just a 15 minute drive from Pluherlin and has a market every Monday.

Vannes is a beautiful medieval city with a walled centre and is only minutes from the famous Gulf of Morbihan. There is a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From Vannes one can take a boat trip for a tour of the Gulf de Morbihan.

Other Activities: bird watching
