Baroque explorers

Stayed at this quiet rural villa for two weeks this autumn whilst we explored the nearby Baroque cities and enjoyed the fantastic weather in South-East Sicilly. The owners made us feel most welcome, as did their family pets - two dogs and four cats, who patrolled the driveway and dozed in the sun outside our front door or in the shade of the lovely tree. The apartment was very comfortable. Two points to help future visitors: Don't expect to see the apartment you see in the photos above stand alone; it is connected to the back of a pink-coloured, one storey country house which is at the end of short drive with locked gates at the roadside. When trying to find the apartment, it is best to start out from "Parco archeologico Cava d'Ispica" which you will find marked on most maps of the area. Modica itself is a very difficult town to navigate until you have a local town plan, so avoid it when you arrive if possible.
