4 bed, 4 bath (all ensuite) chalet sleeping 8 people

Chalet les Drus opens into an entrance area with WC and cupboard for coats. This opens onto the spacious living area with comfortable seating, WIFI, satellite TV and a log burner. The dining table seats 8 and looks onto the garden and deck through large glass sliding doors. The open kitchen is well-equipped and includes a dishwasher. A 2nd set of large glass doors means that this also has access to the deck which has furniture for outdoor dining.

There are 4 bedrooms at Chalet les Drus, each with ensuite shower rooms, all of which are flexible so can be prepared as double or twin beds. 2 bedrooms are on the ground floor, and the other 2 bedrooms are on the first floor. In addition, there is a cosy room on the first floor with seating, TV, DVD player and Playstation with a selection of games.

The hot tub sits on the deck with breathtaking views of Mont-Blanc and the surrounding peaks and the garden is peaceful and mature. Cars can park in the drive and there is an integral garage. The ski/equipment room is off the garage.

Chalet les Drus has a blend of charm and modern facilities which offers everything needed for Winter and Summer holidays alike.

Skiing and snowboarding: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.

Summer and the rest of the year: With the draw of Europe's premier natural attraction, Mont Blanc, Chamonix never sleeps. Whether it's simply to soak up the stunning scenery or get the adrenaline pumping, there is plenty for everybody to do all year round. There are a wide variety of marked trails for hiking and trekking; well-maintained bolted routes for rock-climbing; limitless mountaineering opportunities including Mont Blanc itself; an ever-expanding network of mountain bike trails; some of the most consistent thermals for superb paragliding; raging white water rapids for rafting and hydro speeding; canoeing and abseiling down the spectacular valley gorges; golf at the Trent Jones Sr designed 18 hole course in Chamonix, as well as many other top quality courses nearby; a sports centre with an indoor and outdoor 50m swimming pool and a large grassed sunbathing area, water slides, numerous tennis courts, gym, spa, jacuzzi, the list goes on!

Property Manager: Based in Chamonix since 2004, Mountain Base is a fully registered French business run by Andy, Andie and Matt. We are one of the only British run businesses in Chamonix to hold the Carte Professionnelle (no. 1497/07), which obliges us to maintain a Garantie Financière (cash bond) against which all our clients are financially protected. Chalet les Drus is situated just to the east of the centre of les Houches, 10 minutes walk (800 metres) from the town square. It is in a quiet residential location at the end of a private no-through road.

The nearest supermarket is Shopi in the centre of les Houches, with the main Super U supermarket just a little bit further away (850 metres) towards Chamonix. The nearest bar and restaurant of note is le Delice, 550 metres away, with several other choices in les Houches itself. The centre of Chamonix, with other possibilities, is 7kms away.

For access to the slopes, it is recommended to have a car, albeit there is a bus stop at the main road, 250 metres away. The nearest skiing is at Bellevue in les Houches, 1.7km away, with Brevent in Chamonix 8kms away.

Other Activities: Rock Climbing

Golf: There are several good quality golf courses in the local area, including Evian (venue for the European Masters), Esery and Bossey as well as several other mountain courses, all within an hour's drive. However, Chamonix has its own golf club, 5 km to the east of the town centre, in les Praz. The 18 hole course was designed by the world famous Robert Trent Jones Senior in setting between the Mont-Blanc range and the massif of the Aiguilles rouges. There can't be many courses in the world with views to rival the Chamonix course.

Green fees vary from low to high season and booking is possible from 24 hours in advance.
