You'll enjoy the beautiful heated natural rock pool (Solar heated during season) and the spa, outdoor fire pit, landscaped gardens, and bocce court. Lots of room to congregate or spread out. Come to relax.
Kenwood is located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley surrounded by world class wineries. Fantastic restaurants, from café to five-star, are in Kenwood and the neighboring village of Glen Ellen. Travel just ten miles to historic Sonoma Square or take a fifteen mile backroad drive to the heart of Napa Valley.
For Mountain Bikers you will find some of the best single-track biking in California one-half mile from our driveway. The vacant winding country roads of the area beckon your road bike. Within a five-mile radius are three state parks offering outdoor recreation including biking, hiking, picnicking and swimming. Spa facilities are available nearby at the Kenwood Inn and Spa or Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa.
A warm gracious living room invites you to sit by the fire and play cards, read, or watch a movie. The family room is off the patio and pool and has a wood burning stove.
The large, gourmet equipped kitchen allows several to happily cook while enjoying the company of their friends. You'll find such touches as a professional range, granite counters, and an espresso maker. The dining area seats eight, and a café/game table is in the family room.
There are a total of four bedrooms and four bathrooms on the property. There is an additional queen pullout sofa in a semi private living room.
The main house has two bedrooms and two full baths. The master bedroom has a king bed and doors leading to the patio and hot tub. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The master bath includes double sinks and a large Jacuzzi (bathtub).
Our spacious guest house is just steps away. It features a king bed, living area, mini-kitchen, full bath, and verandah.
The newly remodeled barn has one bedroom with 2 queen beds, a full bathroom and pool/pingpong table.
While fully equipped for entertaining, this is our family country home. We cannot accommodate large parties owing to zoning and our septic system. We do not wish to disturb our neighbors in this peaceful, private area. We ask that no more than ten be on the property.
We invite you to come, enjoy your family and friends, and enjoy our home in Sonoma Valley!

06/29/07 Positive This property is so fantastic! Our family had so much fun winding through the beautiful hills and vineyards of Kenwood to find this hidden jewel. Once we arrived, we enjoyed exploring the tasteful and casual main house, charming studio guest house and the cozy converted barn. For our family, center stage was the beautiful courtyard patio with a large table and rock edged pool. We appreciated having a removable and unobtrusive child safety fence in place upon our arrival. The kitchen was a dream - the cooks in our family used lavender and rosemary fresh from the patio garden in several dishes. The pool, bocce court and garden paths appealed to our children, and the adults enjoyed the ambiance of the courtyard patio during the day and evening as a conversation area.

04/03/07 Positive This is a very beautiful property that comfortably accommdates ten people. The grounds are spacious and provides lots of privacy from neighbors. Photos are accurate but doesn't do the property justice in representing it's beauty. It's the perfect Sonoma getaway.
04/03/07 Positive This house was a wonderful retreat in Sonoma. It is tucked away from all the main roads, in a beautiful and relaxing setting. The house is very spacious, clean, nicely furnished, and comfortable. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well-appointed... it is a real gem!

What a treasure, indeed. Everything about this quiet, homey retreat was perfect for our group of nine friends. We had plenty of space to be together, and places to be apart. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking full meals, plenty of plates, silver and glassware, and plenty of room to cook together. The patio and pool area were welcoming and landscaped beautifully. A rainy evening (yay for rain in parched California) found us huddled around one of two dining tables, working on one of many jigsaw puzzles available - we did three in our three days there. There is also a cupboard full of board games, and a library of interesting books. There were spots to sit and read, maps and directions for several bike rides and walks, the sound of crickets and frogs in the evening, and a wealth of birds to watch in the day (one of our group identified 24 different species one morning). The houses were sparklingly clean, and well supplied. The owners were responsive and answered all of our myriad questions promptly and clearly. On our first full day, as we sat on the patio drinking wine and enjoying the sunshine we spent some time discussing when we could schedule a return visit!
Thanks MaryBeth and Ron for sharing your vacation rental with us. We will be back.
I stayed at the Kenwood retreat for a long weekend with 6 friends. The home is well appointed and feels like a real retreat. The main house has 2 beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms with a fully stocked kitchen, a family room and a living room. The studio and 'barn' house were both perfect for 2+ people to sleep in. The yard with BBQ, hot tub, and pool were so nice and private.. we could have easily spent an entire day just hanging out there. The bocce court area was also a real treat. The property is a little remote - it takes a solid 10-15 minute drive to get into Glen Ellen. A car is necessary. We went wine tasting in Yountville and rented a limo - although googlemaps showed a 35 minute drive, with moderate traffic it took almost a full hour.
The house is highly recommended and I cannot wait to return. The owners were very accommodating as well. Thank you so much!!
We have just spent 3 nights/4 days at Marybeth and Rob's lovely Kenwood home. It was perfect for our family of 8 and we had a fabulous time enjoying the pool, hot tub, bocce ball court etc. It was so nice to be greeted with fresh flowers and a couple of bottles of wine. Plus the beds are very comfortable and the towels are new and fluffy. We certainly plan to re-visit in the future!
A group of 8 of us (ages 31-34) flew in from all over the country. We got to the house and everything was ready to go for us. Once you pull through the front gates, you immediately feel like you are on vacation. You are secluded from everyone else and everything about the property screams relaxation. Drinks by pool/hot tub, playing pool/ping pong in the barn, playing bocce ball...this place has it all. They even have Top Gun on VHS. Classic!
4 nights, fantastic weather, limo service to wineries, great friends, 150 bottles of wine shipped home, and amazing accommodations. Many on our trip concluded its was the best vacation we'd ever been on.
This is the best house we've rented in Sonoma.
Absolutely idylic location, close to Glen Ellen and the main strip of Kenwood-area wineries, but far enough off the beaten path to know you're on vacation. The actual home is more of a compound: a main house with two large bedrooms, fantastic kitchen, several sitting rooms; a guest house with king bed, kitchenette and full bath; and the barn with two full beds upstairs, full bath and pool table / pingpong table downstairs.
As much as the inside spaces are wonderful, we really enjoyed the outside. The enclosed back yard with its gorgeous pool and hot tub area -- along with a massive dining table and huge grill. And then there's the full-size bocce court and beyond that the fire pit right by the barn.
Our family of five spent the entire vacation outdoors -- amazing! And when inside, we were cooking together...or playing cards...or building puzzles (they have tons)...or playing boardgames (again, tons).
The care and upkeep of the property is visible, and there were so many nice touches that show a homeowner going above-and-beyond: fresh cut flowers throughout the house for our stay; several wonderful bottle of wine for us to enjoy; even 'smokes fixings for the kids.
High-class and amazing place to spend time in Sonoma.
A week at this property has set the bar impossibly high for future family vacations! Secluded and gated yet with tons of attractions within a short driving distance, it was perfect for our 3 families...and several day guests. We had grandparents, 2 younger families, and 5 kids from 6 to 22. Each family had their own residence, which was great.
The property was beautifully kept and Rob and MaryBeth went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Rob even called to ask if we needed rollabeds for the kids, and where should he put them? Bottles of wine and vases of roses awaited us.
We could hike right from the property, down quiet lanes lined with ripe blackberries, to a nearby state park. (Sorry, no dogs allowed in most parks here...we left ours home.) There were tons of vineyards nearby to visit, as well as the town of Sonoma (great dining), and the Jack London State Park by Glenn Ellen was fascinating.
It was also easy to stay on the property. Plenty of lovely spots to read and just chat; a beautifully landscaped pool for kids to let off energy; an inviting hot tub; and a Bocce court where every game was keenly contested and drew in spectators. Oh, and a dream kitchen!
We will definitely be back!
