The apartment was in a great location for exploring Berlin, with excellent transport links to Tegel airport and the rest of the city. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and in such a quiet area you can be assured of a good night's sleep after a day spent sightseeing. All the necessary facilities were included and in good working order.
A supermarket, restaurants and shops are all located in the same street with many more within a short distance. The owner is very friendly and welcomed us to the flat, as well as giving us some tips on what to see in Berlin and how to get around the city.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for other families exploring Berlin.
We rented this apartment over Christmas weekend 2011 while visiting our college daughter during her study-abroad year. There were four us--two adults, our Berlin-based daughter, and her high-school age sister. We were able to cook our meals in the small but efficient kitchen, and the convenience of the dishwasher alone was enough to make us think that maybe it's time for us to add one to our own home's kitchen!
With four heavy Internet users, the good WiFi connection provided by the apartment's router was a definite plus. The television was large and provided an excellent choice of stations. There was also a DVD player, which will play European discs.
The building was built in 1908. It had a pleasant solidity: thick walls and a high, secure front entryway. The building was well maintained and clean. The apartment was cozy, pleasant, and in good condition. Since the apartment is located to the rear of the building courtyard, very little street noise penetrated. Between the apartment's location, the building's solid construction, and well-behaved neighbors, the apartment was (in winter) relaxingly quiet. Hot water was abundant, and the rooms were evenly heated and as warm as we needed.
The building is situated in a safe, clean residential neighborhood of similar 5- to 8-storey apartment buildings. A supermarket, droggeire, apothecary, hardware store, bakery, post office, news agent, shops, and many small eateries are nearby. If you enjoy city residential streets, there is pleasant walking just out the door.
The bus line between Tegler Airport and Breitscheidplatz (Gedachtniskircke) via Ku'damm is just down the block, and there's a U-bahn stop about a 5-minute walk away. These two lines made getting around Berlin by public transportation an absolute cinch.
The Baroque Schloss Charlottenburg is just across the River Spree. There are walking paths along the river and in the garden behind the palace across the Spree. We noticed a number of tour boat stops along the river nearby and could well imagine how lively it must be in summer.
The apartment's owner lives nearby. She was responsive, helpful, friendly, and flexible.
The next time we're in Berlin, we'll certainly hope this apartment is available again!
My wife, 3 yr son and I stayed at this apartment for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Angelika was very nice to meet us at the apartment on the day we arrived. She very lovingly welcomed us to her apartment and made us feel at home. The apartment is very spacious, clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped with all necessary supplies. There is a bus stop very close by that runs on the Tegel airport - Berlin Zoo route and is very convenient to reach all points of interest in Berlin. There is a grocery store within walking distance. We also walked to a boat ride stop very near the apartment and took a 2 hour ride across the city, which was very nice. There is an Italian restaurant that has a place for kids to play and my son enjoyed going there several times. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely like to stay here again next time we visit Berlin. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone.
We stayed in the apartment in May 2011 for 9 days, it was absolutely brilliant. It was sparkly clean and we had in there everything we needed, and Angelika was there to greet us when we arrived from the airport early in the morning. The best thing is it being 5 minutes' walk from Charlottenburg palace and gardens which is a wonderful place to visit. We were close to everything we needed, there are a few little restaurants close by and a local supermarket. A very positive experience, if I'll come back to Berlin I would like to stay here again.
Nice and cozy apartment in Charlottenburg, near bus, u-bahn and s-bahn.
Comfortable beds and couches, (we were 4 people, with teenager kids and we had space enough), lovely and well-equipped kitchen, very kind and helpfull owner.
The internal courtyard is very silent and quiet, we really had no problem at all!
In a word; an address to recommend!
