Our 2 handcrafted log cottages offer lots of privacy and breathtaking views of the mostly snow covered Monashee Mountains and the rolling hills, forests and private lake of our ranch, covering over 600 acres. Each cabin consists of an open living/dining area with a fully equipped kitchen, one full bathroom and a separate bedroom. A large sleeping loft overlooks the living room.

Sit back on your covered porch to enjoy your private BBQ taking in the sunset and views. A cozy wood stove provides comfortable heat on cooler days. Green electricity comes from a solar power system.

The cabins are within walking distance to the lake where you can fish for rainbow trouts.Or start your trailride or hike right from your porch.

Paddle out on the lake in our complementary canoe and watch countless birds and waterfowl such as bald eagles, ospreys and many different ducks.

Our ranch is home to lots of wildlife such as bears, coyotes, deer, elk, moose, marmots and many more for you to enjoy

hiking in the Monashee Mountains: hiking in the Monashees is an unforgettable experience as this is still true wilderness with glacier fed lakes and snow covered peaks and lots of wildlife to view

canoeing or kayaking on the shuswap river: The shuswap river is one of the most versatile rivers around with calm sections for unexperienced paddlers as well as whitewater for the kayaker.

fishing for rainbow trouts: fishing opportunities are countles, catch a rainbow trout in our lake or any of the surrounding waters, such as Sugar Lake, Echo Lake or the Shuswap river

Bear Valley Highlands is located in the Okanagan Valley, which is often called ' the canadian California' due to its climate with 4 real seasons, warm and dry summers that allow an abundance of orchards and wineries in the area. Our ranch cover over 600 acres of forests and meadows surrounded by crown land and thus offering total privacy and tranquility as well as fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities.

There are many pristine lakes and rivers in the area to visit as well as a number of golf courses, an award winning ski resort, historic venues as well as trail riding opportunities and rodeos to experience canadian heritage.

Vernon is only a 35 minute drive away and offers museums, cinemas, shopping centres, water slides and much more.

We are also located on the famous hot springs route to the Kootenays where you can soak in natural or man made hot pools and enjoy the breathtaking Kootenay Rockies.

Golf: 3 golf courses are in close proximity to our ranch and many award winning courses are in Vernon, a 45 minute drive away.

Ski: Silverstar Mountain is an award winning ski area for downhill and cross country skiing and has a beautiful western themed village.

Notes: The log cottages both have a fully equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom with shower. There is an open dining/living area with a cozy wood stove as well as one separate bedroom and a spacious sleeping loft. For your convenience the cottages are equipped with a gas BBQ on the porch as well as outdoor furniture and you can use a free canoe on the lake for fishing or sunbathing. You also have access to a floating dock to get onto the lake.

The Most Magical Place On Earth

The magic of Bear Valley starts the minute you leave Highway 6 and take the road up through the trees and into the mountains. We have seen plenty of wildlife on our journey upto the cabins including Moose and Deer. The cabins are clean warm and cozy and the hospitality warm and welcoming. There are stunning views from the cabins, fantastic sunsets and its definately the place to go to unwind from your stresses in the peaceful surroundings. We found there was plenty to do even on a winter trip. Hiking, exploring, watching for wildlife or even relaxing on the deck with a BBQ. Lumby also has plenty to offer and is a short drive away, there is a supermarket, restaurant, swimming pool and much more. Each time we have left Bear Valley we have left a piece of our hearts behind. Thankyou Joe, Barbara and Family for sharing your beautiful home with us and we are really excited about returning again in 2010 (twice!)

Clean, Cozy, Comfortable, Calm

We have stayed at Bear Valley Highlands twice now and will return again and again. Our family of 5 really enjoys the peacful, quiet surroundings. It is a great place to just sit back, relax and unwind. If you enjoy stargazing, it is an amazing place to sit and watch the night sky. Our hosts are welcoming and friendly, always making sure our stay is comfortable. The cabins are immaculately clean and well set up. I have and will continue to recommend this property to friends and family.
