Canet, Perpignan area, is in the sunniest region of France with an average of 320 days sun per year. The Roussillon plain stretching from Perpignan to the Pyrenees is a major wine, fruit and vegetable producing region which adds greatly to local cuisine. There are direct flights from UK and Ireland to Perpignan airport, (15min from apartment). The apartment is ideally located for walking 50 metres to the Blue Flag beach, exploring the local markets and shops, cycling round local vineyards, or going by the very efficient local bus to explore the lovely old town of Perpignan. High season there are beach clubs in Canet. The nearby lagoon is a naturist delight with bird hide and an invigorating fitness circuit. For those with a car the ancient city of Carcassone, one hour away, is a must and Barcelona is only an hour and a half away by good auto route. Twenty minutes away is the beautiful artists’ enclave of Coulliore nestling between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.
