The apartment is very clean and well presented and has a washing machine which is extremely useful if you travel light. It’s situated away from the main pool area so as not to be disturbed by noise and has a reasonable view from the balcony that gets the late afternoon/early evening sun. Very pleasant for an early evening drink! Air con and ceiling fans are great. The air con is very efficient so no need to leave it on whilst you are out, it only takes a few minutes to bring the temperature down and the fans are good for those hot nights! Parking is available outside the apartment block if you have a hire car.
The pool area is relatively small and if you want a quiet relax then you should be ok for most of the day but some permanent residents have young children who can be a bit noisy and so can some of the residents. Still we have spent many a peaceful hour by the pool and enjoyed it immensely! An ice cream van visits most afternoons.
Local shops are a short 5 minute walk down on the main road, you will find a numbers of restaurants/bars, small supermarkets, car hire and a petrol station. In fact, there are some good restaurants (can be expensive) within a short distance. If you keep walking along the main road to the Harbour area you will pass many bars and eating places, you are spoilt for choice. It’s a good walk, 40 minutes or so to the Harbour or if you prefer the local bus service is great for travelling about, taxis are more expensive and will stop at the bus stop to see if you want a lift (about 5 euro’s to the Harbour)! For a fixed fare (1 euro) you can travel in to Paphos or out of town to Coral Bay (great beach!), basically you pay each time you get on the bus which is great value and simple to use. The nearest bus stops are opposite the Venus Beach Hotel and you can get on and off at various stops on route. You can also walk to town along the coast; access is over the road to the left of the Venus Beach Hotel, lovely for a long evening stroll to build up an appetite and a thirst. The Harbour area is a must, great to sit and people watch and there is often a show on outside the old Castle. There are plenty of places to eat and drink with both local cuisine and the usual pizza and pasta places. The main esplanade is now a pedestrianised and takes you round the bay from the Castle, past shops, bars places to eat and so on.
We have been 3 times over the past 4 years usually in May and have had a really great time.
