This unique, neat and comfortable cottage, on the outskirts of Lavelanet, provides the perfect private get-away for your exclusive use. This ‘petite maison’ is ideally suited for couples. With its self catering eat-in kitchen, new appliances, and spacious back garden serenity, the cottage should fit all of your vacation needs. If you also appreciate original artwork you will enjoy the contemporary pieces displayed throughout the cottage. Depending on the season you can harvest the fruits of the garden – strawberries, raspberries, figs, quince, plums, and hazelnuts. Patisseries, boulangeries, food and basic needs shopping are just a short walk or bicycle ride away. You can enjoy drinking coffee at local cafés or sip an aperitif in the bar of your choice. Visit Lavalanet’s open air market where local produce is on colorful display, and perhaps buy fresh items for a tasty brunch or dinner. Lavelanet has its own “cave” where you can select regional or local wines for your enjoyment.

Gite d’Art is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees only 20 minutes from Mont D’Olmes (skiing in the winter) and the medieval town of Mirepoix. The main chateaus of the Cathars are close by ((Foix, Roquefixade, Montsegur, Montaillou, Puivert). Grottoes with prehistoric paintings can be found in Niaux and Lomabrives. Hiking trails are only minutes away (e.g. Gorge de Pereille and Le Sentier Forestier de l’Orri). Lavelanet’s Textile Museum with its original historical looms gives insight into the importance of the textile industry for the region. Visit the medieval Cité in Carcassonne and the tax haven Andorra. The Mediterranean, Perpignan and Collioure (where the Fauves & Impressionists painted) are worth a day trip. Every year the Tour de France passes through the area. Food shopping, wine and regional delicacies can be acquired at the local market in Lavelanet and the SuperU, both in walking distance of Gite d’Art.
