We stayed in this well appointed, well maintained apartment for close to a week, and found it to be a great location. Wi-fi was rock solid, and always available. Our primary reason for visiting Berlin in early February was the Berlinale, and were pleasantly surprised to find that one of the primary venues for the Berlinale--the Friedrichstadt-Palast--was a very short walk from the apartment. It is, however, a good location, in general--the Orianienburger Tor U-bahn station is quite close by (next to the Friedrichstadt-Palast), the Unter den Linden is a short walk directly south, the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate a shortish walk to the SW, and the Hauptbahnhof a few blocks to the W. There are some shopping options close by, and an abundance of restaurants in the surrounding area. The apartment is on a courtyard, off the street--so very quiet--although it is up a couple of flights of stairs. The WC is exceptionally large, with a very hot radiator/towel dryer of commensurate size--which made it very easy to quickly dry out any hand wash laundry we needed to do. There's a nice little terrace off the room, which we didn't make much use of in the February weather--but would certainly be a nice feature during the warmer months.
Marvellous central apartment. Stayed 3 nights & was very satisfied to have chosen this place. Very comfortable, stylish & with good facilities. Looked at over 100 apartments before choosing this one. Think it would be hard to beat at the price, for such a great location.
My husband and I stayed in Pony-Hütchen apartment, spacious studio with a beautiful terrace in November 2010. The apartment is very well located in a nice quiet neighborhood and within 15-minute walking distance to Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, and Museum Island. Also easy to get to from Tegel airport. It was a pleasure to deal with the owner, Mrs. Thimm who provided very clear instructions on getting to Pony-Hütchen from the airport and useful suggestions on site seeing in Berlin.
Other great things about this apartment:
- Easy access to U-Bahn and S-Bahn public transportation and the main train station.
- Lots of windows
- Several radiators keep the apartment warm.
- Wi-fi connection
- Nice kitchen with plenty of pots and pans for cooking
- Close to supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants along Spree river.
- Good water pressure – many European apartments have a water heater in the bathroom that runs out of water after a few minutes; however, this apartment has constant water pressure and plenty of hot water (plus towel warmers and a deep tub).
I think my only suggestion is that it would be good to have English language channels on TV, but it's a minor thing compared to all the benefits.
The apartment was simply fantastic. More central area is hard to find! It's close to everything and walking distance from main attractions or also close to good public transport connections. It's very quite and nice area. The days were very cold but there's more than enough heaters to keep you warm. The kitchen has everything one might need and it's a nice touch to have some DVDs and books/magazines around. The terrace looked amazing...unfortunately did not get to use it because of the snow. All in all perfect value of money.
My wife and I stayed in this apartment for a few days in June 2010. We chose this apartment with a TV so we could watch some World Cup football matches. I was disappointed that the TV was not working when we arrived; the owner’s secretary kindly tried to help but could not make it work either. We left a message for the owner but the owner failed to contact me which was in a sense more disappointing than the original problem. Upon our return, I contacted the owner who agreed that we deserved some token compensation, unfortunately none was forthcoming. I contacted the owner again, they replied saying they were on holiday but would attend to the payment on their return, but they did not. Two weeks later I asked again and received no reply at all this time! I think it only fair that I leave appropriate feedback as I expect a landlord, who has not had to wait for my money, to behave reasonably if I experience a problem. We are returning to Berlin very soon and currently choosing from the huge number of quality apartments on offer, if treated well we would have been simple repeat business!
