Gran Canaria Vacation Rental apartment: Agaete

We had a great holiday at El Angosto. Agaete is a perfect base for a walking holiday far away from the crowds. It is a friendly welcoming place.
The apartments are in a great location high up overlooking the town, port, sea and mountains. The garden and terrace are filled with wonderful flowers and it is perfect to sit out there in the evenings looking out over the sea. The pool is good (if a bit cold) and never crowded. Everyone we met was cheerful and friendly. There is a lovely evening walk down steps to the baranco and then along the promenade by the sea to the beach. The beach is rocky with some sand. Snorkelling is fantastic and we saw lots of interesting fish.
There is an internet hotspot out on the terrace and we suggest you bring your laptop. There is a computer provided as well, although the shift key did not work when we tried it which is a bit limiting. Internet speed is good. We had satellite TV and had no trouble in finding over 500 channels. Most channels are in German and we only found one in English.
You should understand that these apartments are not new and have seen better days. However, we were perfectly comfortable there. Cooking is on 2 rings. We had a coffee maker and a large fridge/freezer. There is a shared microwave. There is a shared washing machine and drying racks are provided. Linen and towels are provided and if you want clean ones, just ask.
You will need a hire car here and the motorway starts at the end of the road. There is an excellent supermarket one junction along the motorway.
Overall, this is a really nice place and a great out of the way location for exploring the island. It is run by nice friendly people. It is old and a bit worn out, but who cares. Just sit out on the terrace with a glass of wine and relax.
