Why M. Lynch chose Central Nice

When I viewed the apartment for the first time, I walked from the flower market, passing the Palais de Justice on the way where the square was filled with atmosphere. After a short walk from the old town, I was shown into the apartment (the builders were renovating and at work). I walked into the sejour which was filled with light from four big windows. I looked out one of the front windows and saw the view - Tour St Francis and the hills behind. I then walked through the rest of the apartment and it was equally bright, yet totally private. I loved the fact that there were two double sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. The beautiful old building and the big double doors at the entrance to the apartment were all original. The lift was modern and the building felt good. I went outside and walked around the area and I saw there were gardens at the back at Place Wilson and Gardens to the front one street away. A patisserie with delicious breads and cakes was a few buildings up so I pictured fresh croissants each morning. There were lovely local cafes, a small supermarket, and a general village atmosphere. I felt the area was peaceful as it was slightly away from the tourist trail, yet within a few minutes walk from it.

The agent had many apartments lined up for me to see in my three day visit to Nice. I decided on Rue Gioffredo almost immediately, even though I went along to see all the others. I reserved the apartment at the end of that day's viewing as I found it to be so special I was afraid the next person who viewed would take it! I have been so happy with my decision. This apartment is all that I was looking for!

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is completely private from neighbouring ones. It is so bright and the area is all that I would wish for - a village like atmosphere in a city, near all the main attractions and restaurants, so convenient to public transport that I only rented a car once - on my first trip after purchase. The cafes nearby are friendly and I always receive a welcome any time I visit. It is so peaceful in the area that I find, even on a short trip my batteries are instantly recharged. The gardens and squares in the area have a neighbourly atmosphere and are lovely to sit in, perhaps reading a book if one does not wish to go to the beach or the Old Town.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The apartment was great and in such a fantastic location that I think we would struggle to improve on anything if it were ours. The big windows give great light to the apartment and the living room is such a fantastic space.

Great location and lovely apt

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in this apt and in Nice. The apt is just as perfect as it seems in the photos and the description. The location is great for parks, restaurants, shops and beach. The owners/caretakers are really helpful and nice to work with. We (2 adults and a young child) highly recommend this apt and hope we can stay again!

Lovely spot. Near to everything. The location was perfect for all our different activities and for eating out in the evenings. Well maintained with friendly, competent agents. We spent a great week here and just thought Nice a excellent place to visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you. We are pleased that the apartment and it's location ensured an enjoyable holiday. It is close to all the different activities one would wish to enjoy whilst on holiday. We love that it is near the old town, near the beach, near the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, near the theatre, opera, the promenades and the port. Shopping is also most convenient, with the famous French department store, Galeries Lafayettes and the many boutiques and well known stores just minutes away. The gardens in the area are beautiful and it is lovely to sit out in the local cafes, watching the world go by. Nice really is a beautiful city!

Stylishly chic, clean, cool marble interior

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this apartment for a Cote d’Azur holiday – it is clean, modern, and in a central location. The building is old French style with a cool marble interior complete with film noir lift and the apartment itself is stylishly chic. We found that after the holiday we felt that we knew Nice and its people intimately. As the area where it is located is very French look out for the little bars and coffee shops where the locals hang out. We will be coming back again next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your complementary words on our apartment. We bought because we loved the location and the old building, the brightness of the apartment and the high ceilings. We are glad you enjoyed the area. Whilst it is near to all the sights, it is in an enclave which is non touristy and hence one can experience an authentically French way of life. The cafes and restaurants in the area are friendly and offer a high standard.

Bright, lovely building, great location.

We had a great holiday in Nice, staying in this superb apartment. We loved the interior and the general area. It was very well equipped (tv etc, Wifi, dishwasher, washing machine, comfortable seating, beds and good kitchen). The owner Mary and Christophe, the agent were very helpful and efficient in booking, check in and check out. We sampled some great restaurants, thanks to the informative brochure provided on booking. There were great shops and cafes. We took the bus from nearby to Monaco, St Paul de Vence, and Villefranche. We also took a train to Cannes and the boat to St Tropez. We packed in so much sightseeing and loved every minute of it. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your complimentary comments. We love to get feedback on how our guests enjoyed the apartment and the area and you certainly seemed to have enjoyed many of the beautiful sights in the region. The boat trip to St Tropez is wonderful, especially on a Tuesday or Saturday when the market is on. Monaco is a must see and easy to get to. St Paul de Vence is a gorgeous village perche and everybody needs to go to Cannes at least once! If you visit again, Eze Village is beautiful (another village perche) and a good day trip would be to take the Chemin de Fer de Provence, a one track train into the mountains as far as either Annot or Entrevaux. When travelling to Monaco, it is worth going as far as Menton and taking in Monaco on the way back. The walk around Roquebrun (near Menton) to the cabin that Le Corbusier stayed and the house that Eileen Gray built along the seafront is lovely. Cap Ferrat is also an excellent place to visit, especially to walk around by the lighthouse or to visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. . If you visit in the winter, one can ski for a day easily in Auron, Isola and Valburg as a ski bus leaves at 7.30 am and arrives back in Nice at 7.30pm after a full day on the slopes. We are also delighted you loved our apartment. We do too! We love the light filled space the high ceiling and the shuttered windows. We work hard at maintaining it to a high standard and strive to make it a comfortable place to be. Christophe and Claire, our agents maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness and are most helpful to guests.

Clean and well maintained in a central location

  • 5 of 5

I spent a wonderful Christmas 2014 with my wife in this superb apartment in Nice.

Everything with regard to booking, checking in and out and assistance during our stay was most efficient. The apartment was very well equipped, furnished and it was also spotlessly clean. The location could not have been better - minutes from the Old Town, the promenades the shopping district and transport. There were delightful cafes, restaurants and shops in the area and it was well serviced with boulangeries and convenience stores.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are very glad that you enjoyed Christmas in beautiful Nice and found the apartment so suitable. We bought the apartment for it's location and for the light that it gets (especially from the four windows in the sejour) - it is just near where Renoir has his workshop and no wonder he chose the area. The location has got better and better since we purchased ten years ago. The Promenade de Paillon is such a welcome addition to the ambience of the area. It also makes strolling from place to place so pleasant. Since we purchased, the tram has arrived and Place Garibaldi has been developed into the beautiful square that it now is - not as full of tourists as the Cours Salaya and very very pleasant to sit out in during the evening, having an aperitif before dinner. All these amenities are just on the doorstep. Some of Nice's best restaurants are also in close proximity which is great in the evenings. We appreciate that you noticed how well equipped and furnished it is. We find it a labour of love to maintain and we add something to it each year. We decided to go for a contemporary look which we thought worked well with the high ceilings of the old building and with the marble floors. Nice is so full of beautiful furniture shops so stocking it was and is very enjoyable. Thank you for booking with us and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We love the apartment and how bright and spacious it is. We particularly enjoy the location and the excellent, friendly cafes, restaurants and parks that abound. It is practically on the beautiful new Promenade dePaillon. It's proximity to the Old Town, the Promenade des Anglais and the beach make it a great place for a holiday. We regularly receive complimentary comments about how helpful to guests our agents, Christophe and Claire have been. They work very hard at maintaining it to the highest possible standards, both of cleanliness and care of the apartment and efficiency and friendliness in looking after our guests and ensuring they have an excellent experience of wonderful Nice!
