Overview

Lake Arrowhead Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Just remodeled!!! Immaculate 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2, new deck.

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING/NO PETS/NO CHILDREN

$99 for the remaining mid week nights Sunday - Thursday's through May.

The quaint “Hershey Cabin”, originally owned as a hunting cabin by members of the Hershey (chocolate) family, is nestled on the lush side of the mountains in historic Arrowhead Villas at an elevation of 5,500 feet. The Hershey Cabin’s location is a key feature, about 1 mile north of Hwy 18, and 1 mile south of Lake Arrowhead Village. This is not just another rental house, but rather a very quiet, inviting, immaculate and comfortable mountain cabin. We are looking to rent the cabin to one or two adults who will take care of the cabin, and enjoy it as much as we do. If the Hershey Cabin is booked up you may want to rent our other beautiful Lake Arrowhead property, the Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage - 38 five star ratings. Type 634044 in the box directly above the Hershey Cabin above to see the Cottage.

THE CABIN MUST BE LEFT IN A NEAT AND CLEAN CONDITION UPON CHECKOUT. IF THIS IS NOT YOUR INTENT, THIS IS NOT THE CABIN FOR YOU! WE CHARGE $50 AN HOUR FOR EXTRA CLEANUP.

The Hershey Cabin is the perfect place for a romantic weekend get-away or for an extended vacation. Totally renovated in the second half of 2013, it has been tastefully decorated to make it the perfect retreat for a private getaway. Every piece of furniture and every art piece has been hand selected by the owners who have a passion for incorporating comfort and elegance in home decor. It is furnished with both antiques and modern furnishings, blended together, to provide the creature comforts of modern day while maintaining the old fashioned warmth of a vintage Lake Arrowhead cabin.

During the renovation we basically went down to the studs and rebuilt much of the cabin from the ground up – yet we saved the original footprint and the rustic knotty pine and redwood inside, so that the cabin still has that old fashioned charm. The cabin has a beautifully hand crafted rock fireplace, massive pine mantel, porcelain/slate tile floors with traditional wool rugs, central forced air heating, dual pane windows and fully insulated walls and ceilings. Above the fireplace is a 40 inch high definition, smart flat screen TV (we have Charter WiFi and Netflix), along with a DVD player. The living room is a perfect place to snuggle up by the fire and read or watch a movie.

The bathroom is brand new - with lots of tile, granite and a frameless glass shower. The kitchen has been redone with gorgeous granite counter tops, new cupboards and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the amenities of home. We completely updated the electrical system and lighting, replaced all pipes and drains, and the water heater.

The bedroom has knotty pine walls and ceiling, and the view out the windows makes you feel as if you are nestled in a tree house. The bed has a new memory foam mattress along with beautiful cozy bedding. Outside the bedroom is a brand new wrap-around deck, with 2 bistro tables and 4 chairs.

In front of the cabin we built a retaining wall to allow easy parking along with concrete steps and a wrought iron banister up to the front door. The cabin is situated on a very quiet road and is easy to find at night, as it has a lighted address. It is surrounded by beautiful Firs, Pines, Maples and Cedar trees, along with a nicely landscaped yard. The siding of the cabin is classic craftsman style shake.

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and in order to have access to the lake, property owners must have "Lake Rights", (many rental cabins do not have "Lake Rights"). We are members of the Arrowhead Lake Association and therefore you have "Lake Rights". You will have access to hike the trails around the lake, to use the two beach clubs (Memorial Day through Labor Day), and to fish from the shore or from the fishing dock.

The Lake Arrowhead area is a little hidden gem, with a quaint village, dinner theater (Tudor house), movie theater and wonderful local restaurants. If you are looking to relieve stress and just relax and have fun, this is just the place. The cabin has an extremely warm and inviting feel to it. Lake Arrowhead celebrates all four seasons - this is an all seasons vacation rental with warm summer days, fall colors, snow in the winter, and a beautiful spring.

CLICK THE GOLD "BOOK IT" BUTTON TO GET A QUOTE AND/OR TO BOOK YOUR VACATION AT THE HERSHEY CABIN. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU HAVE TO BOOK AT LEAST 5 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF YOUR TRIP.

We look forward to having you as our guests at the Hershey Cabin.

About Paul and Janice

My wife and I were married 39 years ago. We love going on vacations, especially to the mountains - both of our grandparents owned cabins in either Big Bear or Crestline. We both recently retired! My wife was an elementary school teacher and did Interior Design part-time. She is presently continuing her education in the field of Interior Design. I was a security consultant and do property management on the side. We love the outdoors - hiking, kayaking, biking etc.

Paul and Janice purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Paul and Janice chose Lake Arrowhead

(We have another Lake Arrowhead Cottage - at the bottom of this page click on the "click here to see all my listing" line to see the beautiful Burnt Mill Canyon Cottage).

We were visiting Lake Arrowhead Village getting an ice tea at MacDonald when our son spotted an ad for a one bedroom cabin at a local realtors. We weren't even looking for a cabin but soon we had bought one. After checking out over 50 cabins we chose this one because we liked the old cabin feel, the quiet location, and the lush trees on the property.

The property, which was originally owned by members of the Hershey (chocolate) Family as a simple hunting cabin, was in major need of repair. My wife and I spent the summer and fall remodeling and renovating the cabin from the ground up. We saved the redwood and knotty pine interiors which give it the classic feel.

We also own and rent out the gorgeous BURNT MILL CANYON COTTAGE in Lake Arrowhead. You can find the cottage by searching VRBO or HomeAway for property #634044.

What makes this cabin unique

At about 1/2 the price of a room at Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa you get your own, gorgeous, immaculate, quiet, private one bedroom cabin. The kitchen is completely equipped with new dishes, glasses, pots, pans etc. The appliances are all new, including the dishwasher and washer and dryer. For those of you who are skiers, we have a ski rack in the back yard. If you just want to sit back and read, we have all sorts of magazines for your reading pleasure.

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake, and to use the lake, the beach clubs, and the lake trail, you must have a "Beach Club Membership" pass. We have the pass for your use. In addition, we have an "Adventure Pass" which allows you to park your car while you go hiking in the San Bernardino Forest. For those of you who like to hike, we have 3 books on hiking in the San Bernardino Mountains, as well as maps and other information.

Upon arrival, you will find a welcome basket including Hershey's chocolates, coffee, tea etc. We have a great house keeper who keeps the cabin immaculate, and we also have a wonderful neighbor who checks out the cabin and makes sure it is ready for you when you come up.

Compare our features to the following Lake Arrowhead hotels and cabins and you will see that we beat them across the board in price, privacy, size, quality, features and amenities:

Quiet and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed at the cabin for 2 nights, midweek. It was quiet and extremely cozy. The cabin is decorated very tastefully, easy to use fireplace, good shower, great kitchen set up, comfortable bed with nice linens. Definitely a sweet place to stay. It is a really romantic place for a couple. The owners are very helpful if anything is needed and obviously take pride in providing a lovely get-away in the mountains. Very short drive into the village and to nearby towns . Highly recommended.

Relaxing and Romantic

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated her 45th birthday at the Historic Hershey Cabin and it was the perfect venue for a romantic getaway. The cabin was incredibly well designed and well taken care off, everything worked! The gas fireplace was our favorite feature, it was very easy to use and makes the cabin very cozy. The bedroom's picture windows provide serene forest views, you wake up feeling nestled amongst the trees. There is some great hiking areas nearby and good restaurants as well. We can't wait to come back. Blain and Anita

The PERFECT cabin for two!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hershey Cabin for my husband's 50th birthday. What a perfect cabin! Impeccably remodeled, not a thing was overlooked. The keyless entry, the deck, the location, the cabin itself was just great! The bed and the bed linens were so comfy and it truly felt like you were sleeping outside (without the elements)!! The labeled instructions were clear, yet discreet and welcomed. Would love to stay a week sometime and get use of the perfectly prepared kitchen. Must eat at Lou & Eddie's Pizza, yum! Ideal Cabin for 2 to getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a great place! My wife and I were so taken aback by the detail that has been put into this cabin from the clearly labeled instructions for the TV and fireplace to the very clever door lock and classy thermostat (yes, I like cool things like that) and a great shower. We enjoyed this retreat immensely and hope to visit again soon. It's centrally located and is close to Arrowhead Village and also close to some great eateries (Hortencia's!).

If you're looking for a nice, classy cabin getaway, this is it. Book early, book often.

Owner's Response: Bob & Diana, Ahh - so you liked our electronic digital door knob and the "nest" thermostat! I also like that sort of hi tech electronics. The shower was a real challenge to remodel, and we are glad that you liked it. It was great to have you - come back soon! Thanks - Paul

What a beautiful spot!

  • 5 of 5

The Hershey cabin is amazing! My new husband is a general contractor, and he really enjoyed staying in such a beautifully-updated historic cabin. It was lovely from top to bottom. It has enough space to have visitors come for a meal, but it's cozy for two. The location is peaceful and quiet. We did laundry, so convenient.

Truly a spectacular gem of a house, and Paul and Janice are superb hosts. They must have earned an A+ in BnB 101.

Thanks!

My wife really liked your comment in your prior email that said that staying at the Hershey Cabin was like "the frosting on the cake, so to speak"! Best to both of you, Paul & Janice

CLUB ARROWHEAD (NOW THE TUDOR HOUSE)

Bootleggers, gamblers, gangsters, trap doors and secret tunnels. Such are the legends of what today is the Tudor House. It began as Club Arrowhead in the Pines, a project of the Atkins Realty Co., which developed Arrowhead Villas and promoted the area as a place to “get away from the cares and worries of city life". Construction began in 1926, with the clubhouse being dedicated on July 4, 1928.

A brochure for Club Arrowhead pictures the sumptuousness of the clubhouse and details the many activities available to members, such as swimming in the huge pool or horseback riding. An associate life membership in Club Arrowhead was offered at $250.

Then the Great Depression hit. During the Great Depression Club Arrowhead became an elegant speakeasy with a trap door built beneath the bar to dispose of the bottles in case it was necessary. In the late 30's and early 40's, the infamous mobster Bugsy Siegel took over Club Arrowhead and ran a very successful gambling casino in the basement. He is also reputed to have operated a bordello across the street in a cottage belonging to the club (now the Fern Manor).

The Tudor House is now a wonderful dinner theater/ supper club/ concert hall etc. The Tudor House is located at 800 Arrowhead Villa Road, about a half mile from our cabin.
