WORK FROM HOME, SLEEPS 7, THE RIVER JUST OUTSIDE, 5 MINS. TO DOWNTOWN, SKI TOO!

Durango Condo Rental Photos and Description

2+ Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom, Amazing Mountain Vistas, Riverfront Luxury Loft.

This RiverGate loft is in south Durango, which is rapidly becoming the center of commerce. It's close to everything, right on the river!

Sleeps 7+ in casual luxury and offers direct Animas River access, 1800 square feet interior space with an additional 400 square feet of deck and patio.

RiverGate is a pedestrian-friendly community located on the Animas River along the 7-mile Animas River Trail, with green space and gorgeous La Plata Mountain views. Relax on the upper deck or on the lower terrace, enjoying the pristine, clean air, mountain views, and the soothing sounds of the river.

The unit’s open floor plan accommodates large family gatherings or casual adventures with friends. Your party can enjoy beverages by the fire after a long day on the slopes or before an evening on the town. Beautiful downtown Durango is so close, you can cycle or walk along the bike path in to town if you choose not to drive. Or, walk a few minutes from your back door to Zia Taqueria or Serious Texas Bar-B-Q, arguably two of the best places in Durango for a quick bite and a beer.

This unit offers you the “lock ‘n leave” lifestyle of a townhome. During the winter you won’t have to worry about things like shoveling snow, or even getting cold, because your car stays nice and protected from the elements in the subterranean heated parking garage. From there, it’s a quick forty level and indoor steps to your front door. It’s truly a place where urban convenience meets the mountains!

The interior includes finishes such as solid granite countertops, polished concrete flooring, stainless steel appliances and 11 ft. ceilings that give an open, spacious feeling. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for a holiday dinner or comfort dish after a full day of active pursuits. WUSTHOF knives make hard work seem easy!

The living room’s 46” TV includes a little something for the kids: an Xbox 360 Kinect. A gas fireplace there provides ambiance, without all the work.

Sleeping accommodations include two bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed) and foyer with a twin daybed on the lower level, plus one queen-size super luxurious pull-out bed on the upper level. Each bedroom is equipped with a 32” TV behind closet doors and a bedside iHome iPod/iPad/iPhone docking station/clock radio for your enjoyment and convenience.

Enjoy the large spa-like bathroom in the master bedroom with its large tub for soaking. All of the bathrooms are sleek, functional and luxurious, with lots of travertine tile to warm your surroundings.

Great condo, great location

  • 5 of 5
We spent 5 days in the condo with 5 people (2 adults, 3 children) and were very comfortable. The location is very close to downtown and convenient to everything. Being right on the Animas river was excellent as well. We spent lots of time just walking down to the river to fish or just splash around. Overall we had a great experience.

Enjoyable bike ride from loft to downtown Durango.

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful loft with a gorgeous view and tasteful comfortable decor. The property has absolutely everything needed for a carefree and relaxing vacation. Veronica, the property manager, is very organized and accessible. She provided a handy binder with all the information we needed pertaining to the loft and Durango. As to the A/C mentioned in another review...The window tinting, as well as keeping the shades drawn during the heat of the day kept the upstairs comfortable. Any time you have a wall of windows on a second level you can expect it to be a little warmer than the downstairs. Well worth the pleasure of such an expansive view.

Beware: Not a dog friendly place. And a terrible Air co system!

  • 2 of 5
Once paid for you learn that absolutely no dog is to be left alone in any of the units in the building. It ruined our family time. My husband and I had to take turn being with the dog indoor or the kids outdoor.
also this rental used to be a commercial building. They are well aware of problems with the airconditioning that runs insufficient upstairs and so loud downstairs in the master that it is impossible to sleep through it. They did send us a check to reimburse us one of our nights as a good gesture but because of these problems we cannot recommend this rental.

Owner's Response: I’m extremely grateful to this guest for making me aware of two crucial issues affecting the enjoyment of guests staying here. It hasn’t been a problem yet for any other guest, and we’re insuring that it won’t be for anyone in the future.

1) Once we found out that the heat was so strong that the guest had to use the A/C frequently, we immediately solved the problem by hiring SunGlo to apply their window tinting product to the large west-facing windows. Now we get energy conservation and UV protection, in addition to improving the heat retention qualities of our windows for winter energy conservation in the cool climate.

The complex has never been a commercial building, but it does have an HVAC system that may be too large for residential use. But now that the heat gain has been thwarted, the HVAC system doesn’t have to go into overdrive anymore. Comfort is preserved for all.

2) Guests with dogs agree to our rules at the time they book with us. This means that the guest had three months to review the rules prior to her party’s arrival. What may have happened, is that the guest did not recall agreeing to the attached pet addendum. In the future, I will insure that guests with dogs acknowledge the existence of this document.

In my experience, dogs left alone in a new environment sometimes get nervous and create havoc and/or bark profusely. This is a half-million dollar luxury loft. As manager, it is my job to protect the unit from excessive wear-and-tear and to insure that future guests as well as neighbors feel comfort and enjoyment while residing here. I offered the guest three alternatives to leaving the dog in the unit unattended.

This unit has only been listed on VRBO for six months. 16 parties have stayed here, and15 have either written me or told me of their love for this loft. This means that we have a 94% success rate. It saddens me though that even one guest didn’t have the most amazing experience possible while staying here, because we work hard to create an exceptional property.

This condo is fantastic! My family of three shared it with another family of four and we never felt cramped or crowded. The decor is beautifully contemporary. The deck (where we spent a lot of our evenings) was perfect and overlooked the Animas river just south of town. You could walk into town or to the fabulous grocery store across the river via the river walk trail that is located just outside the door of the condo. We fell asleep to the sound of the river every night. Very quiet complex. We actually never saw another resident while we were there. The kitchen is well stocked with all of the kitchen tools any gourmet could ask for. We fished for trout and prepared them on the grill on the deck for dinner one night. The beds were amazingly comfortable and ample blankets and pillows were supplied. The underground parking (2 spots) was just a few steps from the condo. The owner met us upon arrival and gave us a quick tour. Very nice people. We will absolutely be booking this unit again in the future!

condo on river

  • 5 of 5
The place was really nice. Construction still ongoing - and people crawling all over but... love the patio and views, furnishings etc. Note that the stairway from bedrooms and main bath is very long (due to the nice high ceilings...) that could be an issue for some.

Veronica was great - very attentive and helpful

If you can, bring your own bike!

Beautiful Contemporary Condo

  • 4 of 5
We stayed in this extraordinary condo in the RiverGate Lofts in Durango to visit my nephew for his 50th Birthday celebration. Being pet friendly was a must as my sister came up from Gallup, NM with her dog Rocky, whom we all love. The owners even provided special "doggy" towels for cleaning paws. The unit was so open and bright with lots of different nooks and seating areas so that we never felt crowded and all had our favorite spots to sit and read or knit or watch TV. The well-stocked (utensils/pots/pans/etc) kitchen is open to the dining area and the rest of the living/great room. Comfortable seating and gorgeous L-Shaped sofa for watching TV. Three flat screened TVs throughout the unit so anyone could enjoy their favorite programs. We had an Oscar watching "party" one evening with a friend visiting and ate in several times as it was so comfortable just to be there. The Animas river trail is right out the back door and the views from the unit are beautiful. The complex is currently undergoing extensive renovation and repair work on the exterior so it was difficult to get to the trail directly out back without getting muddy. We chose to go out through the garage and down the back. You can walk or bike for several miles either into Durango or the other way. The drive into town is just minutes. Be aware that the staircase down to the bedroom level is quite steep so if you are handicapped or experience knee pain, this may not work for you. Fortunately there is a powder room on the main level. Bedrooms are very comfortable and bathrooms are beautiful and modern. Plenty of storage space. The owner left a delightful gift package of coffee, chocolates, maps and doggy treats for us which we found so welcoming! If you need a special birthday cake, try The Yellow Carrot in the north end of town. Fabulous cakes! El Moro Restaurant and The Ore House were standouts. The owners were very prompt in handling an issue with the smoke detectors. Thank you Veronica and Scott for a memorable long weekend.

Owner's Response: A great thing about Durango is that we get 300 sunny days per year. This means that muddy conditions are far and few in between.

Some people may have a hard time with the stairs leading down to the bedrooms. Luckily, on most days when it's not muddy, a common-area elevator is just steps away. You can take the elevator down to the lower level, go out the common-area back door, turn left, and come in through your own sliding doors directly into your own bedroom. But admittedly, people who have problems with balance may still have an issue walking across lawn because it's an uneven surface.
