Discover how to REALLY relax!
Would you like to relax in your own peaceful private pool, while contemplating the vast expanse of the ocean right in front of you - amazing whales, spinner dolphins and colorful fish, the sunsets, and complete serenity, for less than the price of a resort hotel room? Then you will love our place.
Our home has one bedroom, 1.5 baths, plus an outdoor shower/toilet. Kitchen and living area are open and roomy. Bedroom and living room glass french doors open to the ocean view and breeze. Wrap-around lanai and small in-ground pool.
Get-away-from-it all seclusion but only 25 minutes to the nearest grocery store and beaches.
We just purchased this house from our friend Rick, and it has never been used as a vacation rental- just a second home. We have always loved the house and the magical coast of Milolii. We hope you love it as much as we do!
We currently live in the small town of Angels Camp in California's famed Gold Country. Angels Camp is home of the famous Calaveras County Jumping Frog Jubilee. We own a fishing store on New Melones Reservoir called Glory Hole Sports (www.gloryholesports.com), after the Glory Hole Gold Mine that once operated here, and is now under the lake. We love to fish, and spend lots of time on New Melones Lake. When we are in Hawaii, we love to fish off the cliff right in front of the house.
Angels Camp is a small town, and we love it. The Big Island has that same small-town feel. Everyone is so friendly, and there is no hustle and bustle.
We have been married 30+ years, and have a beautiful grown daughter, Sarah. We have always loved Hawaii, and take several trips a year there. We have made amazing friends there over the years. We hope to be able to move to Hawaii someday.
Why is the house called Rick’s Place? We bought the house from our good friend from Maui, Rick, who built it. For years, we would visit Milolii with him. Rick is an ultra-cool, amazingly artistic guy, and the house shows his artistic flair and creativity.
We have always loved Rick’s Place, Milolii and all the wonderful people we have met there. We are thankful to Rick, who agreed to sell us our favorite place on earth, and our friends in Hawaii, who have helped us to make this dream come true.
We hope you enjoy and cherish your time here as much as we do.
The first time we visited Milolii, we wondered where we were going, as we drove down the long road across the lava flow. But once we were sitting on the deck, overlooking the blue ocean and watching the humpbacks against the background of a red sunset, we understood the magic of the place. We helped Rick install the pool several years later, and that really made the house perfect.
The town of Ocean View is about 25 minutes south on Mamalahoa Hwy (11). There are grocery and hardware stores and shops and restaurants in the area. Continue driving and you will reach Volcanoes National Park, and South Point. Continue around the point and you will eventually get to Hilo. If instead of going south, you go north on Mamalahoa Hwy (11), you will be headed back to Kailua-Kona, where there airport is. There are lots of great restaurants, resorts and nightlife there. It's about an hour drive to Kailua-Kona, depending on traffic. Continuing on the Highway will bring you past the resorts on the Kohala Coast, around Upolu Point to the quaint town of Hawi, and through the Parker Ranch. Eventually you will be back in Hilo. But don't try to circumnavigate the island in one day. It's big, and there is too much to see and do along the way!
