Welcome to our home a few minutes walk away from the charming, rehabbed, award-winning downtown Ft. Myers, Florida. Like downtown, our home is OLD FLORIDA and newly and lovingly rehabbed from top to toe...we just finished the rehab in 2013 after two years of work and trips back and forth from Chicago. Built in 1925, our stucco Bungalow has all the vintage details and charm you'd expect. Original woodwork and refinished white oak floors are found throughout the first floor of the house which includes a formal living room with fireplace and dining room (which can entertain eight people easily); 10'x25' front porch sunroom; office; fully outfitted new country kitchen with Carrera countertops; new laundry; and powder room. The second floor, with refinished pine floors, includes four bedrooms (two with queen beds, one with one twin bed, one with two twins) and two new baths. There is a large covered patio adjacent to the house that leads to the pool and the fenced side yard, a perfect spot to dine and relax.
And although we have a smattering of antiques from up north in the house, we also have board games, chess, wifi, books, and a pretty good library of DVD's.
Dependent upon the season, you can pick fresh mangos from one of our six mango trees for breakfast, or avocados from our two avocado trees. Our gardenia tree offers beautiful blossoms during the summer.
Our home offers approximately 2,100 square feet of living space and is comfortable for 2-7 people. It truly feels like an oasis once you enter the side gate to the patio and pool....a place to lounge and laze the day away, or a great central location from which to go out and see the sights...which are many. We are within walking distance of some of the best restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues in Ft. Myers and the area in general....and within easy access to beaches, nature preserves, and various activities the Gulf Coast is so well-known for.
We live in the pool house on the other side of the patio and pool, so are available for recommendations and directions regarding activities, restaurants, events, etc. Rest assured, however, that although we are on the property and therefore able to provide any help you might need, guests have their complete privacy throughout their stay. We are available if needed but give each guest the privacy they deserve.
We cannot guarantee, however, that our dog Charlie won't try to greet you now and then!.

We are also the first rehab in our immediate neighborhood, thus our rates are lower than those in the Historic District. We have a State of Florida office building, parking structure, small apartment building, and small houses around us. The area is urban, quiet, and safe.
We are hopeless rehabbers....from the Chicago area, we will be relocating to Ft. Myers in 2014 where I will be hosting renters of the main house, while my husband Peter will be doing his 'handyman' thing around town.
I am a former management consultant, and Peter is a former professional in finance/pr. We love to travel, have learned to love the Ft. Myers area, and look at each other when we are here and say 'this is pretty nice'.

We found it in disrepair...but it had great bones! It was also in an up and coming area where rehab will be going on, and within spitting distance of the great downtown Ft. Myers...which we love. We love old homes...the challenge is in taking it from sad and neglected and making it BEAUTIFUL! We had a vision...and we did it!
Now that we've 'finished' the house, it offers brand new amenities but with all of it's original Old Florida Charm. It really does feel like and is an oasis in the midst of town. Our home really isn't your typical rental - between all of the original aspects of the house, the privacy it offers, and the charming furnishings and art, it offers a unique and very special place to spend some time far away from your regular routine. In addition, it has a truly super location, walking distance to all downtown and historical points of interest, easy driving to beaches and all of the charms, outdoor activities, and adventures of the Gulf Coast.
Our home is located 3 blocks from the newly renovated, charming downtown Ft. Myers, which offers restaurants, bars, antique stores, art galleries, and the Florida Repertory Theatre. Across the street from the River District, the river is also within walking distance with its beautiful vistas, sunsets, and marina. In addition to planned events including Art Walk, Music Walk, motorcycle and car events, independent weekly film screenings, and the Annual Ft. Myers Art Festival, our home's central location is minutes away from the Edison and Ford Estates; the Butterfly Estates; the Southwest Florida Historical Museum; and the historic Burroughs Home and Gardens; and provides easy access to the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva; Ft. Myers Beach; and Pine Island. Everglades National Park is an easy and fascinating day trip; Miami is 2 hours away; and Key West is an express Ferry ride away.

Our home is surrounded by some municipal and apartment buildings and small homes, thus our pricing is lower than comparable properties.
