Attractions:
Visit Kalamata, now one of the richest and most beautiful cities in Greece. Here you will find a special type of shopping experience: from boutiques from famous brands to very small handicraft shops to the aromatic spice stores in the old city district - there is a lot to discover here. Experience the gypsy market (always Thursdays) - as early as possible during the morning so that you can enjoy it especially during the high summer. Fruit and vegetable markets are found from Koroni to Kalamata and here is where the farmers bring in their harvest. Walk on historical floors: the ancient sites of Olympia, Sparta, Epidaurus and Mykene can be reached for a day excursion. The impressive burg in Methoni and the famous cattle stomach bay (battle of Navarino) by Pylos is also worth a visit and is very exciting for children.
Beach life:
In and around Koroni you will find countless, natural beaches and bays where you can spend undisturbed days and simply relax. Due to the wonderful water quality, Koroni is one of the few places on earth where the endangered loggerhead turtle (caretta caretta) still build their nests. The mild climatic location on the gulf makes it possible to enjoy swimming from May to October.
