The living room is equipped with comfortable furniture as well as WiFi, flat screen T.V., games, and books on Yosemite to share. In the kitchenette you will find all the usual amenities; a microwave is provided in place of a stove. A welcome basket awaits you with fresh baked breakfast items, fresh fruit, juice, milk, coffee and tea from local merchants. There are many walking paths in the surrounding area where you will see all forms of wildlife. Please check out our profile below for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
Owners live on the premises. Robin's Nest is an attached guest suite with a private entrance.
Trace and Robn DeSandres are longtime residents of the Sierra Foothills, having grown up in the area and lived in Mariposa for the past fifteen years. Trace is a physical education teacher and coach at the local high school and previously worked as a ranger in Yosemite National park for twelve seasons. Trace was born and raised in Yosemite and has a deep love for and vast knowledge of the area. Robn is an artist and all-around creative individual with a great love for books, gardening, and the culinary arts. She worked many years as the local elementary school librarian before retiring to focus on creative pursuits.
We love the quiet and beauty of the mountains and the friendly and supportive nature of the people in this community. Mariposa is a wonderful place to live and has so much to offer in terms of outdoor activities, special events, wildlife, as well as rest and relaxation in a safe environment.
We offer a private entrance and access to a beautifully landscaped backyard. Robin's Nest is part of a California ranch-style home that sits on 1 acre, surrounded by a white picket fence, large sprawling lawn and private driveway. Inside the garden gate you will find an abundance and variety of trees, plants and flowers that will appeal to nature lovers.
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality! We had a great time here in Mariposa and in the beautiful Yosemite National Park. It was a great getaway from the busyness of Los Angeles. We really enjoyed our stay here at Robin's Nest. We felt more like we were staying with family or friends rather than a hotel. The place was very relaxing and nice. We had a great time.
Robin's Nest is true to it's description! Beautiful and fun with the most charming setting and cozy little details. Trace and Robn are hospitable and caring in their personalities and how they've set everything up. We loved our stay and highly recommend it!
Even though we saw all the great pictures online, we weren't exactly sure what to expect as we had never really done this much. It was truly great! It was like a bed & breakfast without having to mix with owners unless you wanted to. Robin's Nest is so homey and decorated with great flair - Robin really has a knack for providing a beautiful homey place with ALL the necessities (and extras too). The welcome basket and the breakfast groceries were such a treat. The place even had cable tv, Netflix, WiFi, and board games! not that we had time to watch it much. This was a perfect spot with the quaint town of Mariposa nearby with just enough selections for eating out and plenty of local shops with neat stuff. Wish we could've stayed the whole week but we enjoyed visiting Yosemite each day and the advice from Trace on which spots to hit really helped a great deal! and the margaritas were great too!
This is a great place to stay and use as a hub to explore the gold mining area of California or Yosemite which is a scenic 1 hour drive from Robin's Nest. Robin and Trace are great hosts and although we did not get to experience the famous Trace margharita we hope to the next time we visit.
The accomodations are immaculate and when you arrive there is a basket of treats that includes chocolate and cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. There is also a refrigerator that has fresh water, ice tea and local ground coffee that is very fresh and makes a great pot of coffee for morning. There is also everything you would need to make a ham, cheese and egg breakfast muffin! How can you beat that?
Mariposa is a small town and close enough to walk to from Robin's nest (1.5 miles) and has some good places for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We particularly enjoyed our meal at Savourey's which was a recommmendation.
If I had one recommendation it would to beef up the signal strength on the free WIFI as we had trouble either connecting or staying connected but to be honest it was also nice to have time away from the web!
Really enjoyed this place and highly recommend if you are going to be in the area.
We truly loved staying here, and I have recommended Robin's Nest to everyone I know! The little kitchen especially impressed us; it was so nice and so well-stocked! We loved enjoying breakfast, tea, and coffee in our room before heading out to Yosemite for the day. We wish we had gotten to spend more time just chatting with Robn and Trace, as they are so friendly and so knowledgeable of Yosemite. We had a limited time at the park, so we followed Trace's advice on what to see and do and were never disappointed.
Our room was absolutely spotless, very quiet and private, and delightfully cozy. Trace's margaritas were pretty great, as well! :)
Really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean, beautifully decorated and private. Trace and Robin could not have been more warm and welcoming. A great place if you're looking to get away from the crowds. We spent two days exploring nearby Yosemite and really appreciated Trace's intimate knowledge of the park. Highly recommend!
