After renting a cabin for my family every summer for two weeks in various parts of the Shuswap we decided Sorrento was our favorite!! We loved it so much we decided to buy a place steps away from the beach, no more renting for us! But we only get two weeks vacation so being from Calgary we thought we'd share our favorite place and make it as awesome as we could. Remembering along the way what made all the other places we've rented special we tried to incorporate them into our dream cottage.
The friendly community of Sorrento is located in a pristine setting on the southern shore of Shuswap Lake. This Sorrento vacation property offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a huge 1/2 acre yard edged on two sides by four acres of forested nature scenery.
The inside of our 1200 sq. feet home is newly renovated and features leather furniture, two new flat screen TV, wifi, a wood burning fireplace for those sledding vacationers, a kids room that sleeps three, two adult rooms with new Queen beds (one with a double futon as well) and two eating areas just perfect for a multiple-family vacation! Because of the woods at the side of the property we have somewhat of a private 'campground' and we will allow one (1) camper, trailer, tent trailer or motor home to park for the week and hook up to the cabin for an additional charge (see rate charges). There's a BBQ on the covered deck and a huge yard for the kids to play in. In the RARE case of rain or a moody teen we have a Blue Ray player and an assortment of great movies and games and free wi-fi!
If you feel like jumping in the lake, a short 30 sec walk will land you at the beach. You'll find sand, picnic tables, a floating dock, bathrooms and a protected swimming area for adults and young children.
If you have a boat trailer, that is no problem! We have a separate lane at the side of our property for easy access in and out and to park your boat trailer.
Not only is Shuswap Lake right in front of you, Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Course is a mere 3.2km (8 min) down the road. Sorrento and Shuswap lake offer everything you need for a summer packed with fun and relaxation. There are fantastic sunny days of swimming and campfires by our huge fire pit BUT also some amazing winery tours, antique shops, go-cart tracks, mini-golf centers, nature trails and animal watching!
Summer is not the only time you want to come to Shuswap Lake. Winter is another great time to check-in to The Beach Shack as it is located between 2 of BC's top ski hills, Sun Peaks and Silver Star which are less than 1.5 hours away, and Sicamous which has some amazing sledding is less than an hour away.
Our goal is to provide you with a relaxing, fun summer fall or winter get away. Please check out the photo gallery to view the cabin and surrounding area. Our shabby chic cabin is a comfortable getaway for the family.
We also supply the firewood for the fire pit so that you can enjoy bonfires every night. We have a wine fridge as well to house all the wonderful finds you will pick up touring through some of the wonderful wineries that are only moments away. The beach is steps away and has picnic tables, bathrooms and a floating dock for the kiddies to play on all day, as well as some sand for mom to relax in a lawn chair with a good book for the day. The Sorrento Marina is just down Blind Bay Road only moments from the cabin - a prime location.
Groceries and all that you need are in Sorrento, so as you are already in town, its a quick drive, or about a ten minute walk to main street for an ice cream cone, antiques, real estate, a pedicure, you name it!
Salmon Arm is a major city and only 15 minutes away by car, it has a WalMart and most major city amenities such as a movie theatre, shopping mall and a water park!
Our cabin is nestled in gods-country amongst quiet neighbors in a tranquil setting- so no noisy campgrounds or houseboat crews here! A true relaxation - adventure spot for families and responsible adults.
We hope you enjoy your stay, we know we loved it enough to buy our own SHACK!
We are a busy blended family of six! We have three daughters who love dance, music, swimming at the lake, boating and a son who loves hockey and skateboarding. Now that the kids are grown up we enjoy long motorcycle rides, boating and winery tours and enjoying travel and just hanging by the campfire with our friends and very large extended family.
Tanis Herback purchased this cabin in 2013
We have been vacationing in the Shuswaps for many many years and when we came to the small town of Sorrento we knew we were home! Our beach is a public beach that is at the end of a cul-de-sac that many of the locals even say they don't know about! It has bathrooms, picnic tables a floating dock and sand! We love the large trees and the fact that we don't have to cross a busy lake highway to get to the water, it's just so safe for our kids. We were looking at such small 'rustic' cabins right on the water and when we saw this one just a 30 second walk with such a large home and lot we were in love. We have such a tranquil, beautifully treed yard, its private and perfect for our guests who come to see us in the summer with their campers (all our friends camp!). We couldn't be happier!
What is unique about our property is the safety feature of the beach being at the end of our cul-de-sac, no roads or highways to cross, the huge yard and the fact that the property only has one neighbour - the other sides are completely forested which we just love. Feels like camping! Our kids set up tents! We can walk to a wonderful beach in 30 seconds without a care in the world!
My family and I went to this rental cabin, at the beginning a bit apprehensive as it was not right on the water. Upon our arrival we quickly decided that it had been a great choice. The cabin is well kept and above all extremely clean. It was only a few steps from the water and a great spot to enjoy the summer. We particularly enjoyed the fact that the owners thought about every single detail to make our stay enjoyable, from slippers to flashlights, from beach towels to beach sits, from life jackets to inflatable boats, from chairs to even wood for the fire pit!!! Everything you ever thought you need you will find in this cabin. The kitchen had every single utensil and much more. The decor was elegant yet comfortable and everything worked perfectly for us - enjoyed the flat panel TV's and the complimentary Wi-FiL We also enjoyed having fresh tomatoes in the garden every morning...great salsa!!! Also, the nightly fire pit and the BBQ complimented the great outdoor setting. We had such a great time a this cabin and we will for sure recommend it 100% to everyone. See you next year!!
We arrived for a seven day stay in a warm July and had a clean cabin waiting for us with beds made, and firewood ready for a marshmallow roast later. The 2 adults and 3 kids in our group had plenty of space to maneuver within the cabin, and out in the grassy yard where we played Bocci and ran through the sprinklers. On the hotter times of the day we were on the deck in the shade, or down at the lake with a nice beach, which was a minute walk away down the gentle hill! The scenery was gorgeous sitting at the beach with a cold one. The cabin has two large fans to cool it off in the hot times of the afternoon. Salmon Arm was a short 25 minute drive where we hit the water slide park not once, but twice. The kids loved it! The town of Sorrento was a short 2 minute drive to get supplies that ran low.
Our VRBO owner/host was exceptional in making sure our needs were met. And the caretaker lives close-by to help with any questions we had. The cabin was well equipped with a full kitchen, BBQ tools, and extra propane tank which we didn't need.
We would recommend this site to friends and family as it's quiet, quaint, and reasonably priced. We'd come back again too!
The accommodations were very clean, spacious, and beautifully renovated. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. and the main dining table could seat 6 comfortably. We enjoyed many family meals here. We lucked out with great weather basically our entire week so we didn't spend a whole lot of time inside. The yard was large, private, and well taken care of. The grass was short so there was a lot of usable space for the kids to run around and play. There is also a community park near by with playground equipment and a splash pad. The farmers market just down the street was very enjoyable for us as well. We travelled in early summer (prior to high season) so the water was cold, but it didn't slow the kids down at all. Because the lake is just at the end of the cul de sac, we were able to get to the water everyday. The water level in the lake was high though and there wasn't much sand, but we couldn't find much sand at any of the other nearby beaches either which is quite common for this time of year according to some of the locals. If we needed supplies and couldn't find it in Sorrento, Salmon Arm was just a short drive away. Tanis (the owner) was a pleasure to deal with during the entire rental process and responded to all of my inquiries promptly and accurately. She made this a very enjoyable experience.
