Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5
We had a great stay. The house is quirky and comfy. The front porch is great and has a fantastic view of the canal and is walking distance from state street and the commons. The host could not have been more helpful and attentive with everything we needed. We felt very welcome and would stay here again!

I want to find a reason to return to Ithica so I can stay in the house again

  • 5 of 5
We liked this house from the moment we saw it perched on the little hill under a small cliff, and facing Cayuga Inlet. When we found the tiny brook running along the house with a small waterfall you can hear in the house - that's when we fell in love with the house. The owner has taken great care in decorating the house in warm, but neutral colors, with simple wall decorations. The furniture suits the style of the house perfectly. Table tops and shelves are uncluttered, which leaves plenty of room for your stuff. Lighting is perfect for me as a reader - I never had to look for a brighter light anywhere. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need, including fresh fruit on the table, and unopened creamer, cream cheese, and jelly in the fridge. The plates, glasses and cutlery match - This isn't a must have,- but it is a nice touch. We found it odd that the only shower in the house is on the first floor. It's a small shower, but the hot water and water pressure were great, and there is a laundry cupboard in the bathroom with fresh towels. The towels are plentiful, and fluffy. The two bedrooms on the second floor are a decent size. We slept in the front room with the queen bed which was very comfortable, and used the back room with the single bed as a dressing room. There is a washer and dryer in the upstairs bathroom - which was a pleasant surpris. The upstairs bathroom has a soaking tub. The king size bed and another bed are platform beds on the third floor. We didn't want to climb the extra stairs, and we wanted a bed that was not so close to the floor. There was a half bath on the third floor also. The ceiling seemed a little low.
The driveway into the house is short but steep which is not an issue in summer. There are 4-5 steps onto the front porch, a flight of steps up to the second floor that are a little steeper than normal, and steps to the third floor. I would warn folks with serious issues with steps to think twice. The balconies on the second floor, both back and front were under repair, so we could not use them. Wi-Fi had a great signal, but I had to reset router each day - not a big deal. The location is excellent for sightseeing, but you need to get in your car or walk up to the bus stop. Neighbors were close but quiet. We locked doors and cars because Ithica is a city, but we never saw or heard anything that made us feel uncomfortable or unsafe. We can't wait to come back again.

Great house in a good location!

  • 4 of 5
This place was wonderful for our annual girls' weekend. It fit the 5 of us very comfortably! We loved the location and the house has tons of character. There is a small brook that runs next to the kitchen windows that was great. The front porch was perfect for our evenings. We were concerned that there was only 1 shower, but the hot water was endless and there was great water pressure! It was a great weekend getaway spot for us!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week in Ithaca at this charming house. It was plenty big for four adults (two grandparents, two parents) and a recent college grad and two cars. The house is made for readers! Cozy nooks and crannies everywhere. Breakfast on the porch watching the crew teams on the inlet while a brook babbles right beneath you was heaven! I slept in the attic room, very comfy and cool. It would benefit from shelves. The second floor rooms were extremely comfortable according to my parents. Kitchen included coffee, laundry detergent, a full fruit basket and guides to local attractions. The house is filled with thoughtful details that made it really cozy, like tons of plush towels and nice bedding. We brought bikes but there were also bikes at the house and a paved trailway right outside the door. Downtown was an easy five minute drive. Day trips to Corning and Seneca Falls were simple as we were on the roads out of town. We loved it!

Good location

  • 4 of 5
The house worked out very well for us- with a good kitchen and 3 bedrooms for us to use. The owner was very responsive and the house was in a good location. Not really walking distance to the shops downtown, but right next to the river with a good view of the area. Has its own off street parking as well.
