Karlstejn Castle: Karlstejn Castle is perhaps the most well known castle in the Czech Republic. Karlstejn is located among winding hills approximately 30 miles from Prague. The castle was founded in 1348 by the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV, after whom Charles Bridge in Prague is named. The castle, built in high gothic style, was intended as a royal treasury to safeguard both the crown jewels and King's extensive collection of holy relics.

Surrrounded by peaceful forests, Konopiste castle has a rich and varied architectural history. Bishop Thomas of Benesov founded the castle sometime near the end of the 13th century. The original castle was built as a fortress exhibiting the style of the French citadels. Later, in the hands of various owners, the residence took on the characteristics of both Baroque and Renaissance styles. The final private owner of the estate was Archduke Franz Ferdinand , who owned the castle until his death at start of World War I. The famous Trophy Hall is a testament

Kutna Hora; Cesky Krumlov: The earliest record of silver mining in Kutna Hora dates back to the 13th century. At that time the 'silver rush' began and the settlement of Kutna Hora grew rapidly. The first written reference to the town is from 1289. In the 1305, the Czech Mint was located in Kutna Hora. Today, this UNESCO listed city, preserves the atmosphere of its rich past with, historic buildings, narrow streets and many reconstruction and restoration projects. Popular sites include The Silver Mine Museum, St. Barbara's Cathedral, and The Stone Fountain in the historic town square

Cesky Krumlov, a historic town in southern Bohemia , is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are three hundred buildings in the historic center that enjoy protected status. The castle complex here is the second largest in the Czech Republic. Because the town is situated at the junction of the trade routes to Austria, Bavaria, and Northern Italy, it has always been a very cultural city which is evidenced by the architecture one find

Terezin: Terezin was originally a military garrison and fortress built in the18th century by French engineers. During World War II the Nazis used Terezin as an internment camp and prison of the Prague Gestapo. Thousands of prisoners were transported from Terezin to their death at concentration camps throughout the German Reich. Several museums in the city preserve the history of suffering during WW II. Exhibitions include The Small Fortress, The Magdeburg Barracks, The Crematorium, The Ceremonial Halls, Columbarium and The Central Morgue

Fantastic Apartment

This lovely apartment was perfect for our visit to Prague. We had three people, including our son (11 yrs old), and we all fit comfortably. The rooms are spacious and sunny and the apartment is very clean and cheerful. The kitchen is well equipped. The wifi is reliable. Its a bit of a walk to Prague's main attractions, but the Metro is close by and easy to use. For alternatives to the more expensive downtown restaurants, there is a large upmarket shopping mall a block away (and on the way to the Metro) which has both a huge supermarket and some reasonably priced restaurants with reasonably good food.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The apartment was perfectly located, within a 2 minute tram ride of anything we wanted to see. We could have walked, but the trams are so easy to utilize. Lots of restaurants and shopping right outside the door. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed. Thomas and his family were so nice, and even though we inconvenienced them with our late arrival, they were incredibly gracious and understanding about it. I highly recommend that you stay here - you'll love it!
Owner's Response: Dear Anna & Michael
many thanks for the kind feedback, this is most appreciated. It was a pleasure to host. The biggest reward is to know you did enjoy your holiday and have been happy in Prague and in the apartment. Our family 'team' spends lot of time to prepare the apartment for every visit and to make the stay for the guest as enjoyable as possible. I will pass your message onto them. Thanks for this. Hopefully see you soon again. Whenever you should intend to be close to Czech Republic please let me know and come over for few days. Your home away from home will be ready for you. Have a lovely autum and keep well. Take care Thomas

Superb modern apartment in a great part of Prague

My daughter and I stayed in the apartment over Easter 2011. We were delighted with how clean and modern the apartment is and also the very quiet location (no traffic noise at all).

The area is a mix of upmarket commercial properties and apartments and is about 5 mins from the tram stop so it's super convenient for getting about the city. There is also a very large shopping complex nearby with fashion stores and a Tesco superstore, as well as a multiplex cinema showing English films.

The bedding was lovely and comfy and the apartment feels very safe and secure (the area is also very safe). We walked about at night and had no worries at all.

The kitchen and bathroom are brand new and well equipped.

Highly recommended!

Luxury apartment in Prague

We stayed at the apartment in October 2010 for 5 days. The apartment was excellant in terms of location, cleanliness, decor and facilitiies. It was quiet and peaceful and yet the castle, river and various bridges, Old Town Square and other sites were within easy reach. There were shops nearby and good tram/bus links to the main sites if you didn't want to walk. The city of Prague was beautiful - ideal for a romantic break. The owners of the apartment were most helpful both before and during our stay. We could not have asked for more.

Trendy & lively quarter next to Prague Castle and Old Town. Visit W.A. Mozart house around the corner. You will have Charles Bridge, Jewish Town and Old Town Square all in walking distance.

The National Theatre and Opera are just on the other side of the river.

Little Quarter and Petrin Hill just around the corner.

Golf: Golf club Praha is the closest course to the Centre of Prague being only 10 minutes away. The course is fairly hilly which makes for many well placed shots. Although the course is only 9 holes the appeal is that many people like to play nine, then relax with lunch or refreshments on the wonderful terrace overlooking the course before setting off for some more enjoyment. The course is not littered with hazards but the shaping of the holes makes for a very challenging round. This course is also excellent to play on the leaving day of your trip.

The 36 hole Konopiste golf resort is a fantastic location for your golf expedition. The older more mature 'Radecky course' is part woodland part open with many water and sand challenges. The new 'D'Este' course is an excellently designed undulating course with plenty of challenges.

The fairways are excellent on both courses and the super size greens are excellently laid. The only problem with such large greens is that you may have some long putting to do !!

Ski: Almost 12% of the Czech Republic’s territory is made up of national parks, and almost all sport centers of this country are located in these national parks. There are about 200 resorts in the boundary areas of Bohemia and Moravia.

Czech mountains are not high: the main peak, Snezka, rises just 1602 m above sea level. But ski resorts located in the forests and on mountain glades seem to be very cozy. Here, at small elevation, perfect conditions for skiing and rest have been created.

The Krkonose massif located 130 km north-eastward of Prague with its resorts of Spindleruv Mlyn, Pec pod Sn?žkou, Harrahov, Janské Lázn? is especially popular among alpine skiers. The snow cover here lasts from November till April; its average thickness is 1- 3 m. The resorts of Krkonose are distinguished by groomed trails and modern technical equipment. Mountain sides are covered with forests up to the elevation of 1300 m, and then follow the meadows with the broken masses of dwarf pines.
