Further details for this vacation apartment rental in Valencia City, Spain

City of Arts and Sciences: The City of Arts and Sciences, developed by Santiago Calatrava, is a large-scale urban recreation centre for culture and science, which also incorporates L’Oceanogràfic, an underwater city designed by the late Felix Candela. Set in the old dried-up riverbed of the Turia, midway between the old city of Valencia and the coastal district of Nazaret, the City of Arts and Sciences covers an area of 350,000 square meters. Following a disastrous flood in 1957, the river was diverted along a canal to the south of the city, and the dried-out riverbed planted as a 7 kilometre long promenade through the centre of the city. The promenade is crossed by two streamlined new bridges designed by Santiago Calatrava. This impressive architectural ensemble brings new focus to an incoherent and underdeveloped area, while linking and providing a marker for the outer areas of the city.

GOLF: EL SALER: The course is situated in the Albufera Nature Park on the shores of the Mediterranean, just south of the city of Valencia. It is laid out on terrain dotted with pine trees and sand dunes, with the last few holes looking very much like a typical English course. EL BOSQUE: Just 15 minutes from Manises airport and 25 minutes from the city centre. It has an 18-hole round located on very undulating terrain, the fairways are narrow and there is abundant local vegetation. ESCORPION: Located in a lovely valley, surrounded by small hills covered with pine trees. The course is picturesque, even though it is not particularly undulating. It has five lakes, on which numerous birds nest. MANISES: The oldest of the Valencian clubs. It is a 9-hole course, whose flat layout requires precision and constancy because the fairways are narrow and flanked by dense trees, and the greens are small and surrounded by numerous bunkers.

Santiago Calatrava: 'As the site is close to the sea, and Valencia is so dry, I decided to make water a major element for the whole site using it as a mirror for the architecture.” Major projects that were recently inaugurated include Sondica Airport, Bilbao (2000); The Bridge of Europe, Orléans, France (2000); the Bodegas Ysios winery in Laguardia, Spain (2001); and Calatrava’s first building in the United States, the acclaimed expansion of the Milwaukee Art Museum (2001). Among the projects that are currently coming to completion are Blackhall Place Bridge, Dublin, Ireland (early 2003); Tenerife Opera House, Santa Cruz, Canary Islands (September 2003); Petach Tikvah Bridge, Tel Aviv, Israel (spring 2003); Quatro Ponte sul Canal Grande, Venice, Italy (late 2003/early 2004); Turtle Bay Bridge, Redding, California (summer 2004); the Athens Olympic Sports Complex (summer 2004); and the Valencia Opera House (2005), the last major building in his City of Arts and Sciences.

Other Activities: museum visits, clubbing, America´s Cup, Moto GP, Formula 1

Viva Valencia

TheHappyTravellers Chelmsford, Essex, England.
Review Submitted: April 30, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Chose Valencia on a whim, will definitely be returning there.
Loved the apartment, well furnished and spacious and everything worked as it should, even the central heating to take the chill of a couple of the mornings. The whole complex is nice and the concierge at the secure front gates was very friendly and helpful. My daughter loved the little swing in the play area, we had to stop there every time we left and returned to the flat. When the swimming pool is finished it will be hard to get them to leave at all!
The Science museum and surrounding complex is great and the Aquarium is magnificent (although a touch on the expensive side). Turia park, which used to be the main river bed, is full of little surprises and is lovely to walk through to get into the Old City, about a 45 min stroll. The kids loved the Parc Gulliver part of Turia Park, loads of very intersting free slides, very popular with the locals too.
The bus stop around the corner takes you too the beach or the centre of the Old Town in about 20 mins, perfectly located for both.
Visit the tranquil Botanical Gardens, the busy Central Market (meat, cheese and fish) or the small but beautifully designed Bioparc(zoo) which was excellent. Or you could just chill out at one of the many Old City cafes and watch the world go by.
Great shopping centres and supermarkets in the area, although they are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The owners were great, very helpful and always polite.
I would recommend this apartment and Valencia in general for an interesting City/Beach break and will be going back very soon.
Owner's Response: Thanks!

Couldn't have been better!

Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
When we first arrived, we were extremely pleased with the quality & space of the apartment. Very luxurious. The location was ideal for us, right opposite the 'City of Arts & Sciences' - amazing. An easy bus trip for either the beach or the old town of Valencia. Communication & assistance from the owners was excellent.
We would recomend this apartment from both the perspective of location and also the helpfulness of the owners. 1st Class !!
Owner's Response: Thanks a lot! Hope to see you again sometime!

Fabulous apartment in fabulous city!

The Three Amigos Wiltshire England
Review Submitted: September 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This super apartment is just perfect, sparkling clean, it has everything you could possibly want. Look out of the window and you will see the City of Arts and Sciences just across the road, a walk along the Turia through trees, coffee bars, play and sports areas, takes you right to the heart of the city.

Super sightseeing, wonderful food, cheap buses; safe and pleasant area to be in, not too noisy so you can sleep, everyone very friendly, not laughing at our poor Spanish. Concierges absolutely super, friendly and welcoming every time they saw us.

Owners could not have been more helpful and friendly.

Would certainly recommend to everyone (well, perhaps not everyone as I would like to come back myself one day!)

Review Submitted: June 5, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
This apartment was spacious, clean and well equiped. It is situated in a gated community, with shaded seating/play area and a helpful concierge.
It is idealy situated midway between the town and beach, a 10 minute bus ride in either direction. There is also ashopping centre with Corte D'Inglese, Zara, Mango etc and many cafes and bars nearby.
It overlooks the City of Arts and Sciences and is within walking distance of The Palais di Musica.
The owners were extremely approachable and helpfull.
This property is suitable for couples or families.

cracking flat in a cracking city

brightongirl brighton, uk
Review Submitted: March 25, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
this place exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. the flat was huge, very well equipped/maintained and sparkling clean.

the apartment itself is in a great location - you have views of the city of arts and science from the living room window, and its a 20 minutes walk along the old river bed into the old town. its in a very (upmarket) spanish residential area, so lots of local cafes, shops, bars nearby and you can avoid feeling like tourist. Everyone we met was friendly - concierges, neighbours, even the taxi drivers. communication with the owners was great - friendly, fast and helpful.

we stayed during las fallas 2008. And we had a fab time – a great big clattery week long festival in the middle of a great big clattery modern Spanish city. it’s what they do best. We were far enough from the madness to be able to sleep at night, but close enough to feel part of it. we hired bikes, ate churros, stayed up very very late, drank beer, ate in funky restaurants, drank mohitos, ate in traditional restaurants, saw lots, and walked our socks off.

Valencia is a really great city - a good mixture of old and new, relatively cheap, safe and friendly. so just go, and when you do stay here.

hasta luego
