Overview

Palm Island Townhome Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

DIRECTLY on the GULF of MEXICO, newly remodeled townhouse. Located on the BEACH with dockage, tennis court and a fantastic gulf front pool! Fabulous, expansive gulf views. There is a screened porch on the main level, and an upstairs balcony off of the master bedroom. All of the appliances are new, as well as new windows, tile floors, bathrooms and a new gourmet kitchen with granite countertops. Fully equipped and ready for your enjoyment. Other new items include, flat screen televisions, local original art, ceiling fans, furniture, bikes, kayak, linens and towels, kitchen equipment, glassware, plates, silverware, etc. The list goes on and on! Just about everything is fresh and new. Also includes cable television, free long distance in the US and Canada and wireless internet access. Please inquire for more details and specifics about this great gulf front vacation rental.

No crowds here, just miles of unspoiled, 100% natural Florida (the way it used to be!). World renowned shelling, fantastic sunsets, bird watching galore, kayaking, dolphins, gopher tortoise, and a lively lagoon where fish jump all day long. Don Pedro State park is a short walk down the beach. You’ll want to capture the Island’s charm by traveling via golf cart, we rarely use cars here. Golf cart rental is available.

Bring your boat or rent one for the ultimate in Florida lifestyle. Our community dock will accommodate a boat up to 20 feet. Like to fish? Fish right off the dock or try your luck surf fishing or book a charter with one of the local guides for a thrilling day of sport fishing or backwater challenges. Trout, Redfish, Snook, Tarpon and Grouper are just a few of the many species that call our waters home.

Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) is a barrier island and a stones throw from the mainland. You’ll arrive via a short car ferry ride that takes about three minutes. Our island has a terrific resort that offers a casual restaurant, ice cream/deli shop, sundries store and a pirate show for the kids. The island is almost all single family homes so you’ll quickly find it has a pristine 'non-commercial” family feel. There are no large high-rise resorts, beach bars or traffic and noise. If you’re looking for that place in the sun that you can actually hear the wind whistle through the palms - you’ve found your place.

Off island you’ll be close to restaurants, shops, golf courses and world famous Boca Grande as well as other attractions. As we like to say... civilization is close but not too close. Boca Grande offers exclusive shopping, dining and sightseeing. By boat you can reach Cayo Costa Island State Park and Cabbage Key where Jimmy Buffet was inspired to write 'Cheeseburger In Paradise.' Do it all, or do nothing at all, that’s the “island” lifestyle. It’s laid back, always casual (leave your tie at home) and Florida at its best.

Sleeps six comfortably. No smoking. Pets allowed with owner's permission, additional pet deposit and $50 per pet fee. Spacious, open floor plan. Fully equipped kitchen. Nice screened porch that opens into the living room. Master bedroom with private bath and beachfront balcony. Don Pedro/Palm Island is an experience like no other. Come to our island and see why so many have fallen in love with this little 'slice' of paradise!

About Julie

I grew up in Florida and as a child and teenager we would always head over to the Gulf Coast beaches for our recreation and vacations. It was a lot of fun and holds a bunch of fond memories for me. Back then, the Gulf Coast was less discovered and certainly less developed. Today, it's hard to find a beach with so few people and so underdeveloped. Quite refreshing to say the least. We chose Don Pedro Island (Palm Island) for the natural beauty and 'Old Florida' feel. This chain of islands just may be the last true Florida beach you can walk down (7 miles long) and hardly see another person. We also liked that there are no beach bars and high-rise buildings. It is the best of Old Florida, natural, unspoiled and a genuine paradise.

Julie purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Julie chose Palm Island

We bought here for the unspoiled beauty of the island and the area in general. Englewood is a low-key Old Florida 'beach town' that reminds you of how Florida looked many years ago, without the huge high-rise condominiums and massive hotels clogging the beach. There are plenty of local 'home-grown' shops and restaurants and the fishing is some of the best in world. The beaches are fantastic and the boating is world-class. If you are looking for a great family area that is close to everything, but far away from the congestion, traffic and noise, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place. The only way to get on and off the island is by a 3 minute car ferry ride. Having no bridge to the island allows for a semi-private atmosphere and keeps beach going traffic to an absolute minimum. The island is all residential other than the resort area at the north end of Palm Island which offers a quality restaurant and ice cream/deli shoppe and small sundries store. Most all of the island traffic is by golf cart.

What makes this townhome unique

Staying on the island is not for everyone. If you like lots of places to shop, tourist attractions, beach bars and chain restaurants, this isn't the place for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for un-crowded and un-spoiled beaches, great kayaking, fishing and swinging in a hammock under some breezy palms, this may be just the place. It's for a couple or family that wants some serious down-time ... a place to unplug and recharge your batteries and enjoy some great family time. Our town home is pet-friendly with tile floors throughout, a private outdoor shower (which is great for pets!). We always travel with our dog and we know many of you won't leave home without yours either. After all, they're part of the family. There's an entertainment area under the unit with a charcoal grill, snack bar area, table and chairs. You'll see plenty of Gopher Tortoise and native birds. The beach is literally at your doorstep as is the private community pool.

It is always a pleasure to go to a location that is well-thought out, immaculate and well-stocked. Julie and Dale make certain their properties provide just these amenities. All this means is that you have nothing to concern yourself with while watching the brilliant sunsets, reading in the cozy nook, bike-riding, exploring the island on the golf cart and just unwinding. Thanks for another perfect month on Don Pedro!

Heaven on Earth

Yep! We've found the perfect place to leave life's stresses, problems and rat-race pace behind. This villa will leave you wanting for nothing. The decor is beautiful and will make you feel right at home the minute you step inside that front door onto it's pristine floors. It's impeccably clean and is NOT filled with typical rental property quality accessories, decor and furnishings. It's all top quality, so tastefully done and so comfortable that the only thing that can pull you away is what is awaiting you past that back door and just a few steps away. Julie and Dale have thought of all the details, big and small. The only thing left undone, is finding a way to make it easier to leave. Trust me though, they have this "host" thing down to a T.

If you add all this to the location, you will not find a better place to be. The island is quiet and unassuming. Miles of uncrowded beautiful beaches with a view to die for right from your own screened porch or downstairs outdoor entertainment area. And if you don't feel like walking the few steps to the beach, you can watch it right from you upstairs deck, which also doubles as the best place to enjoy the sounds of the surf and star gazing after dark. We ate at the little island restaurant once and then got it to go a couple of times, preferring our porch and views to the inside of anywhere else. It's good! We ate off island for lunch a couple of times and then spent the other times grilling right on the private grill outside the villa. Your kitchen is well stocked and ready for your fresh ingredients that are easy to obtain off island with big grocers and wonderful seafood markets that are easy to find.

Thanks to Julie and Dale we cannot wait to return and have already booked our return trip.

Fantastic, quiet and peaceful vacation retreat.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are lifelong residents of Wisconsin, and having retired a number of years ago we finally decided to take an extended vacation in Florida. The high rise condos and crowded beaches didn't appeal to us, plus we have a dog who is part of the family, so when we found Dolphin Beach on Don Pedro Island we were pretty excited. The information and photos of the property provided by the owner, Julie, on the VRBO website are accurate in every respect. The view of the sunsets from the deck of the townhome are spectacular. The beach is within feet of the home and we went shelling and hunting for sharks teeth every day. We literally found hundreds of sharks teeth to give to the grandkids. We also watched dolphins cruise past as they were feeding in the shallower water just off the beach. On the lagoon side of the island we caught enough fish for a yummy meal with our son and his family who visited us for a few days. There is so much more to mention about our stay, including golf cart rides around the island, lunch or dinner at the Palm Island Resort and taking the short ferry ride to and from the mainland for shopping and/or entertainment. If all this sounds good, believe me it is. Julie, the owner is super organized and very responsive and helpful to any needs or questions. We would recommend this place to anyone and hope to return again in the future.

Another wonderful stay at Dolphin Beach

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Dolphin Beach. Julie and Dale continue to update/upgrade and seem sincerely dedicated to the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. This place is a gem - From the island itself to the comfort and convenience of the townhouse. When your on the island everything seems quiet and uncrowded. It's when you go to the mainland (shopping or dinning) you realize how congested and busy South Florida is in season and how fortunate you are to be staying on Don Pedro Island. It was a pleasure to meet both of you and get an early booking for next year. Your commitment to excellence is evident and is the primary reason we plan to continue taking refuge from Iowa Januaries here. Highly recommend for those who wish to decompress in a beautiful pristine environment without having to sacrifice the amenities this townhouse offers.

Just what an island getaway should be!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in mid-December for a week. It was wonderful. It wouldn't be right for everyone. If you want a beach with lots of people, restaurants and/or bars, this is not the place. If you want a beautiful beach, right out your door, without people, music, etc., then you'll love this. Super easy to go to the 'mainland' for dinner, etc. Julie was so quick to respond to questions and the property was just as described. Definitely would recommend to friends and family!

A beautiful townhome in perfect surroundings

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting a vacation home rather than staying at a hotel or resort and Julie was wonderful in answering all our questions and making us feel totally comfortable during the whole pre-arrival process. As for the townhouse, it was a dream come true. The view is incredible from the entire first floor, especially the lovely screened-in porch, as well as from the comfy master bedroom. You're only steps away from the water and the sounds of the waves are so relaxing. The townhouse has everything you could want or need -- Julie and Dale have thought of everything and it really feels like a home. During our stay we played tennis, rode bikes, cooked out on the charcoal grill, went swimming at least once a day and stargazed every night. There were a ton of birds to watch: osprey, pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, sandpipers and willets, seagulls... and DOLPHINS! Not just a few of them either -- we spotted several dolphins on multiple days. It was by far the best vacation we've ever had and we've already booked another stay for next year! :)

Unspoiled, uncrowded and unbelievable location. It's old Florida at its best. One of the best beaches in the world and certainly one of the best in Florida. World-class Boca Grande is very close and Englewood offers some quaint shopping and local restaurants. It's an old Florida beach town that has managed to stay connected to a slower pace and tropical living.
