I have always loved this area and moved here full time with my family in 1985.

Mike Lambert purchased this cottage in 2012

The property is located on beautiful Clam Lake directly across from the Grass River Nature Preserve, an unspoiled natural area. I decided to build a cottage with vintage character but with modern amenities.

In building the house my goal has been to give it the flavor of early lake cottages including beaded paneling, vintage lighting, a sleeping porch, lots of natural light and a Victorian wrap-around porch.

AMAZING, RELAXING VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
I went up to this beautiful property with my two friends. What a great weekend we had for the holiday! This place is just gorgeous, and so relaxing. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck every morning, and a nice bonfire at night with the fire pit provided. The house is beautifully decorated and has the country home feel. Ideal for families, or just a group of friends. The lake is literally right in the backyard. The owner was extremely accommodating and kind. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away!

ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!

  • 5 of 5
It's difficult where to begin as to the beauty of this property! This vintage style home, with it's country side, is a spectacular place to stay if you are looking for the true "Up North" feeling. It easily maintains 6 or more guests and the amenities and hospitality of the owner is superb. The owner was always available when we needed and he was ever so pleasant. This was truly the best vacation home I have ever stayed at in the Northern upper parts of Michigan. The home was in top notch cleanliness and nicely designed. Every room in the home had lake view access. Sitting on the porch, both morning and night, having coffee or having a bonfire was wonderful. The close proximity of the lake made it all the more beautiful. We really enjoyed ourselves and we will be returning to this home in the Fall. The colors of nature around this property will certainly be amazing in the Fall season! Thank you to the property owner, Mike, for his kindness and generosity. See you in the Fall, Mike!!

AWESOME COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
We just recently stayed in this beautiful newly built cottage on Clam Lake for a long weekend. The location couldn't be better for both those that love to be near things to do and those that desire a very peaceful stay on a lake. During our stay we enjoyed downhill skiing and tubing at nearby Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain. Alden and Bellaire are two quaint towns nearby with a variety of restaurants and shops to choose from. The cottage is tastefully decorated, well stocked, and has a great lay out. There is lots of room, yet still has a very cozy feel to it. We enjoyed using the kitchen at the cottage as the owners have provided plenty of utensils/pans for your cooking needs, just like home. Our kids loved the loft/bonus room upstairs. The owner was very helpful, kind, and available for any of our needs. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to enjoy northern Michigan. We had such a great time it was hard to leave, we plan to come back so we can enjoy the awesome porch in the summer!

The property is in a scenic area on a chain-of-lakes 67 miles long. Clam Lake runs into Torch Lake which National Geographic named the 3rd most beautiful lake in the world! Clam Lake also runs into the Grass River Nature Preserve - a beautiful preserve including the river and a large protected section of land which fronts on the river and has great walking trails! The preserve has an education center and offers terrific nature programs for all ages. It is handicap accessible.

The area is full of old growth trees which give you a sense of peace and tranquility. The trees are beautiful all year but in each season the landscape changes into fall colors, winter snow, spring wildflowers, and summer shade. The cabin's location is also surprisingly near sensational golf and ski resorts, gambling casinos with headliner entertainment, the small towns of Bellaire and Alden, the nearby cities of Traverse, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Harbor Springs. There are shops filled with one-of-a-kind pieces and ready for you from the budget shopper on up! Dining in the area is terrific: lots of great restaurants from ice cream parlors to 4 star gourmet cuisine. Every visitor will be very happy they came. Something wonderful for the young and not so young, casual or intense fitness, and land-lubber or water enthusiast. Families return year after year, generation after generation to this rare and beautiful area.
