Modern style Souterain appartment, sleeping room, kitchen living, bath & shower

The separate apartment is located in the souterrain level of a single house (built 2006). The big windows and the southeast orientation give the inside a friendly and bright effect. The sleeping room has a bed, 1,60m width and a small cupboard. The living kitchen has two studio coachs (width 1,50m & 0,80m), table and satellite TV. The kitchen is fully equipped and has stove, refrigerator, freezer and sink. Additionally there is a coffee machine, nespresso machine, toaster and water heater. The American style dining corner has 5 seats. All rooms have floor heating and electric shutters. For phone calls (in- and outbound) there is a telephone. The car can be parked in front of the house on our property. There is a free of charge Internet WLAN Hotspot available.

Public transport: The walking distance to the S-Bahn (That is how we call the public transport railway system of Munich) is 7 minutes. From there it is a 30 minute ride to the city centre. The train operates twice per hour and the ticket is EUR 13,10 per day (covers up to 5 persons and allows unlimited travelling in the Munich area). The first train departs at 5:17 am, the last one out from the city departs 01.30am in the city centre. Travelling between us and Munich city without a car, is no problem here.

Environment friendly location: We are an environment friendly location. Ca. 40% of the electricity for house and heating, are generated by our roof top photovoltaic system. Toilets and washing machines are sourced by a rainwater system.

The small village of Dürrnhaar is surrounded by woods which are very nice for walking and cycling. The village of Aying (5 min. by car) with it's brewery and marvellous Alp mountain panorama, has some very nice Bavarian food places and beer garden. For those who like to go for King Ludwigs castle, can reach Nymphenburg palace or Herrenchiemsee in ca. 45 min. by car. The local train station gives you a quick lift to middle of Munich's city (Marienplatz), where you can relax, while enjoying a beer at the Hofbrauhaus, go for some shopping in the shopping area or visit cultural places. For the youngsters and techies in your family, don't miss the Deutsches Museum in Munich. It is Europes largest technology museum and can easily satisfy a rainy day. The village of Dürrnhaar is the perfect place between Munich and the mountains.

Great place for a family

We are a Canadian family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children 11 and 13) who are on an around-the-world trip. We stayed in many apartments across Europe. This place was very nice - great backyard for the kids, spotlessly clean, good coffee machine, access to washing machine, good internet connection, big bedroom and a pullout couch. We found it a great location for sightseeing in Munich - took the SBahn from Ottobrun station (parked our car there) as the tickets were cheaper from there. Buying a Family pass for the transit made it so inexpensive to tour all over Munich. Nice kitchen which made it great for having breakfast there, making our lunches for the day and we mostly ate dinner out each night.

Rupert was an excellent host and had lots of information on sightseeing in and around Munich.

Nice but...

The apartment is very nice and modern. Rupert is nice but there are rules to follow. You can't wear shoes in the apartment and you can only use the washer and dryer when the owner is there and only during certain times of the day. There is a 2 EURO charge for washing and drying. There is NO internet access at the apartment. Rupert told us that by law the owner is responsible for what guests do on the internet so he does NOT provide access to his network account. Nevertheless, it is a very short walk to the Durnhaar train station and from there easy access to Munich. Aying, about 3 kilometers away, has the famous Ayinger brewery and beer garden. A must if you stay here. There didn't seem to be a good bike/walking path to Aying, only the highway so we felt you need to drive there or take the train. If the rules and internet access aren't important to you this is a nice place to stay.
Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us.
In September we set up a public wireless internet access point, which allows FREE INTERNET ACCESS for all our guests. You missed this possibility just by 2 weeks. Taking of shoes before entering the appartment is a recommendation from our side, to give you the possibility to enjoy your stay in a hygenic and clean environment, but not a must. If you misunderstood this, I feel very sorry. Getting to Aying by bicycle or foot is absolutely no problem. There is a very nice and quiet trail parallel to the S-Bahn track. Next time I will explain how to get there.

This apartment was extremely clean, modern, and well-maintained. The owners are very attentive and helpful. I was worried about being to far outside the city, but access to Munich was extremely easy and I would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Oktoberfest or travelling to Munich.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Wonderful Vacation Rental!

The apartment was spectacular. The owners were very nice and helpful. It was the perfect place to stay while visiting Munich which is only a short train ride away. We had 5 Adults comfortably sleeping in the apt. with no complaints!

Nice Appartment

It's a quite new appartment with well-equiped. VERY quiet and VERY clean. Feels like a cosy nest after the tired travel everyday. Enough garage for the people with car. The owner is very nice and hospitality. Strong Recommendated!!!!
