The property on which the guest house is located is a highly sought after and popular historic neighborhood of San Luis Obispo. This unique guest house space is situated on the second floor above the garage away from the street. It was originally the carriage house for the main home. The special juxtaposition of the apartment places your view at tree level overlooking the other buildings in the neighborhood which creates a peaceful, tree-house effect. Perfect for a weekend getaway or extended vacation! The apartment is approximately 450 square feet and provides a single bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen. The bedroom has a brand new queen size bed and lots of closet space to stow away your belongings and keep the space clutter free. The bathroom has a combined shower and tub. The eat-in kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, gas stove, and dishwasher. The galley-style layout makes food reparation a breeze. There is a private deck off the entrance to the apartment with a bistro table and chairs that is divine for sipping a morning cup of your favorite beverage or enjoying a drink at the end of the day. An off-street parking space makes loading and unloading easier and saves you from trying to park on the busy street. We also have two bikes that are available for use if desired. (San Luis Obispo is a very bike and pedestrian friendly city!). For those who are looking to stay long-term access to the washer and dryer can be negotiated. The neighborhood is popular for many reasons. A main factor is its proximity to downtown San Luis Obispo, a mere 4 blocks away. Shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, bars, art galleries, museums, and Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa are all within a short walk, ride, or drive. Even closer, right around the corner, are some local favorites: Sally Lou's Cafe, Lotus Asian Restaurant, Cafe Roma Italian Restaurant, Gus' Grocery Sandwiches, Del Monte Cafe, and Meze wine bar. There is also a wonderful yoga studio, Yoga Centre, around the corner. Many people in the neighborhood also utilize a bike/walking path (3 miles round trip from the house) near by for exercise or commuting. The path runs along the train tracks. There are numerous mountain biking and hiking trails throughout the city and all within a few miles from the house. The Greyhound Bus and Amtrak Train Station are two blocks away. Several public transit bus stops are nearby as well. The airport is a few miles away, a short taxi ride or quick drive, from the house. The freeway is also easily accessible from the neighborhood. We live on the same property but keep to ourselves. We have a little boy who plays in the yard.

We have greatly enjoyed hosting people in our guest house. It is a special treat to meet visitors from all over the world. The guest house is 'family owned and operated'. Daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live in the main house and the grandparents, who live close-by, own the property.
