Our Mission Statement:
To provide our guests with a rejuvenating retreat experience with emphasis on privacy, comfort and cleanliness.
We have been married for 25 years and have 2 children. Before moving to the Sunshine Coast we lived in Maple Ridge.
Edda and Heiko Paulsen purchased this house in 2003
We bought our home on first viewing. As we have been boating in this area for many years; our dream has always been to live here. An opportunity knocked and we jumped! One look out the window is all it took; the lush private property and the panoramic water views seduced us. Living here on the coast has changed our lives.
It was love at first sight when we saw our home. Driving down our street with our real estate agent we were greeted by a huge ocean view. We knew then that this place would be special and it was and still is...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful suite with the fabulous yard and magnificent views. After a day's adventuring the magical hot tub was the place to be. Our hosts were most helpful and accommodating and the location was perfect!
My family and I just loved staying here. Edda and Heiko are extremely attentive to details and a very lovely couple. Even with a rainy weekend we had plenty of activities to enjoy ourselves: badmington, board games for the kids, and a whole set up for a beach bonfire. We would stay there again for sure!
My husband and I stayed at the Suite on Velvet the first couple days of March and had a wonderful time. The suite was very nice and the yard is beautiful with an amazing view of the ocean. Edda and Heiko were very friendly and welcoming. There was so much to explore in the area even this time of year. We hope to come out in the summer one day.
Another Fantastic Stay!! Thank you SO SO much!! We had a beautiful weekend away celebrating our engagement!!
Suite on Velvet could not have been better. It is appointed in a clean, European style. The bed is super comfortable. The kitchen has enough in it to make simple meals. The view of the ocean, across the strait to Vancouver Island, a wonderfully landscaped yard with several place to sit (when it isn't raining) and a beautiful hot tub gazebo. The hosts, Edda and Heiko, are gracious, attentive and very personable. We have more trips to Gibsons planned and Suite on Velvet will get our business.
My husband, friend and I stayed at Suite on Velvet a couple weekends ago to attend a wedding. We had an amazing time! The weather was great, the hot tub was awesome, and the view was spectacular! We truly could not have asked for anything more! The suite was very clean, and the hosts were great! They were away for the weekend, but their daughter showed us everything and made us feel welcome! Loved it all!
Located a mere 40-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, Gibsons is the ultimate coastal getaway. The town is nestled between old-growth forest and rugged coastline and features a world-class harbor, a marina, eclectic art galleries showcasing the coast’s incredible talent, family-owned restaurants serving up fresh seafood and other delicious meals, and outstanding specialty shops.
And of course many will know that Gibsons was home to The Beachcombers, the longest-running CBC television show, which still has fans around the world. Molly's Reach, the restaurant prominently featured in the show, still serves up fish ‘n chips to the thousands of visitors whose trip to Canada would be incomplete without visiting this local landmark.
Are you a boater? Gibsons is the gateway to Desolation Sound Marine Park and the Gulf Islands. Keats Island and Plumper Cove Marine Park are a mere one-kilometer boat ride from the Gibsons marina. Don’t be surprised if you see seals, whales, dolphins, eagles, on your journey. And bring crab traps if you’ve got them. Nothing beats a freshly harvested Dungeness crab feast!
Fresh air, unspoiled nature—and the world’s most delicious water! Gibsons has won awards for the 'best tasting municipal water in the world' in international competitions. Very few municipalities have water clean enough that it can run untreated into a glass.
