Photos and Description of the Recco vacation rental Very well treated house for 4- 6 persons

Very calm half of a double house in midst of an olive-grove in the Ligurian country. Casa Gulu is situated on the top of a green hill, above the Ligurian coast. It is a perfect starting point for trips to the sea-side - the village of Recco with its beaches are reachable in 10-15 minutes by foot - and also for excursion into the mountains. The silence is guaranteed because of the gallery of the highway where cars pass in the Mulinetti-valley. You reach the house by taking a long flight of stairs (120 steps) that begins at the private parking place below the house. It is an old country-side house that was all renewed with love and passion for detail. It is very clean and friendly, offering all commodities; the furnishing includes some antique pieces. Casa Gulu is an ideal place for a family holiday - relaxing but at the same time active - it offers enough place even for two families. The shadowed terrace and the huge garden leave enough place for happy staying around the house

The geographical position of the Casa Gulu is extremely happy: Genoa, the capital of the Liguria, is distant just few kilometres and a visit is very much recommended for its museums, the aquarium and its historical centre with the strada nuova. The house is a perfect starting point for many trips. Fantastic walking or biking on well signed paths in the regions of the mountains (S.Apollinaire, Monte Redentore, Santuario di Megli) or the coast, for example in the parc of Portofino. Boats go from Recco or Camogli directly to S. Margherita, Rapallo, Genoa and also to the promontory of Portofino - a fantastic destination due to the splendid abbey S.Fruttuoso di Capodimonte (property Doria). The famous villages of the fishermen in the 'Cinque Terre' are easily reachable by train in about 30 minutes. Other charming villages near by are worth a visit: Chiavari, Sestri Levante, Cavi di Lavagna. The coast has mostly little rocky bays. If you prefer sandy beaches, head to Leirici or Portovenere.

Notes: Casa Gulu is a modernised, restored country-side home. It consists of two levels - the upper one is reached by a comfortable wooden staircase with banisters. You find here the sleeping-rooms, all with wooden pavements. The ground floor has terracotta pavements; everything is furnished with taste and some antique pieces. The centre of the house is the kitchen (due to the original structure): big old wooden beams; scaffolds and cupboards done by craftsmanship. The wash-basin of marble and the big tiled oven ('ronfo') is still conserved (although is does not function). The rest is equipped in a modern way (microwave, washer-up, freezer) and offers lots of space. It is absolutely recommended to eat outside on the terrace - beautiful and cosy in the shadow of the wisteria. Pomegranate-, medlar- and olive trees spend shadow and pleasure. The garden is very spacious (5000 square metres) and is equipped with banks, chairs and deck-chairs. Please ask for baby's high-chair in advance.

Traumhafte Terrasse

Unsere Ferienwoche in der Casa Gulu hat uns gut gefallen, vor allem auch den beiden kleinen Kindern (2-jährig), welche ausgiebig auf der Terrasse spielen konnten. Das Wetter war schön, aber auch eine Woche drinnen bei Regenwetter kann ich mir gut vorstellen - es ist genügend Platz vorhanden. Geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Haus. Der Platz unter der mächtigen Glyzinie auf der Terrasse ist paradiesisch! Das Grundstück ums Haus ist reisig; leider sind die alten Olivenbäume alle radikal zurückgeschnitten worden.
Der Fussmarsch runter zum Meer ist mit Kindern eher beschwerlich - ein Auto ist dann fast unabdingbar. Erwachsene mit normaler Fitness meistern die Treppen aber problemlos, und unten wird man durch einen wirklich liebenswürdigen kleinen Strand in den Felsen belohnt.
Als zwei befreundete Paare hatten wir extra nach Häusern mit zwei Badezimmern Ausschau gehalten. Das Bad im oberen Geschoss ist einladend. Das zusätzliche "Badezimmer" ist nur über die Terrasse erreichbar (wie in der Ausschreibung erwähnt) mit WC, offener Dusche, Waschmaschine und (Kunsttoff-Wasch)spühltrog. Der Raum ist feucht und kühl. Für mich geht das kaum als zweites Badezimmer durch. Man geht sich wohl kurz duschen, wenn's mal auf der Terrasse zu heiss ist. Aber für die tägliche Toilette teilten wir uns eben das obere Bad.
Fazit: Gerne wieder!
