On the edge of the Oderbruch (swampy area along the Oder river), 55 km north-east of Berlin (route B 158) you will find a landscape in a charming scenery. Tree-passed avenues are winding through hilly fields. Vast woodlands and small lakes remind of a low mountain range and make a contrast to the near flat Oderbruch landscape. The area is ideal for walking, bicycling, and fishing or for horse riding and canoeing. Artists of different professions have made this sparsely populated and scenic cultural landscape their home and gladly show their studios to visitors. We recommend trips to the National Park Märkische Schweiz (15 km), to Poland (20 km), the boat lift in Niederfinow, the Cistercian monastery in Chorin, the open-air museum Altranft or to the man-made landscape of the Oderbruch . The old distillery “Alte Schnapsbrennerei” with its former manor buildings makes the local core of Haselberg. The community has a population of 300 people.
