I grew up in Charleston SC on the Atlantic Coast, so I knew nothing about the Great Lakes. It was not until I'd been married for 6 years that I finally agreed to go to 'the Lake.' Needless to say I fell in love with the area and have come back every summer since then. My husband has been coming to Leland with his family since he was a young boy in 1952. He learned to play golf at the Leland Country Club and to water ski barefoot and sail on North Lake Leelanau.
Stanley Reahard purchased this apartment in 2004
Locals describe Leland as 'The Land of Delight.' Both sets of grandparents in my husband's family started coming here in 1930's and started a multi-generational experience that we hope to see continue for many more generations to come.
This area of Michigan was voted in 2011 as the most beautiful place in the USA in a Good Morning America poll of fabulous places to visit in the USA. The relatively cool summers and fabulous lakes, not to mention lovely cherry, apple and peach orchards and vineyards contribute to the unique flavor of the area.
The description of this property as listed very accurately reflects our July 2014 stay at this property. Our hosts, Bo and Stanley, were very kind and welcoming. The suites are beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. The area just south of Leland is so beautiful with views of Lake Michigan and the Manitou Islands to the west and view of Lake Leelanau to the east. My husband and I golfed at wonderful courses in the area, we also hiked and rented bikes in Glen Arbor for the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. Also, many wonderful restaurants and wineries in the Leelanau Peninsula. We had a wonderful vacation in these accommodations. Thank you so much Bo and Stanley, your "Southern Hospitality" shows. We hope to return next year. :-)
Located in the heart of the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula in Norther Michigan, the area affords several golf courses, dining facilities, both causal and fine, boating, winery tours, kayaking, swimming, hiking trails, not to mention the Sleeping Bear Dunes National seashore a short 45 minute drive from Leland.
