About MJ Kenyon

Why MJ Kenyon chose Ironwood Estates

This is a super cozy and comfortable cabin. Bear Haven is under new ownership so we are in progress of building new reviews from guests.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The check-in instructions were very clear and well thought out. It was great having wifi in the cabin, as well as cable channels. Our daughter loved the welcome goody bag of treats, that was a nice touch! We also appreciated the abundance of big, fluffy towels...much better quality than we've encountered in other rentals. Overall the kitchen was well-stocked with the exception of glassware - wine glasses in particular. It's a great idea to provide non-breakable glasses for use in the spa, but it would be nice to have the regular kind for use inside. (We keep a supply of glassware from Ikea on hand for parties, you can't beat their prices.) We had a little trouble getting the heat to circulate into the bedrooms, but we managed. The backyard landscaping is quite lovely, and although we didn't get around to using the spa I can imagine that would be a great way to soothe sore muscles after skiing. The cabin location can't be beat! We walked to the village once or twice each day. There was plenty of room for four adults and one child. Having the second bath is a huge plus.

We would definitely contact in the future for a trip.

Awesome Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin and the location was unbeatable! We were able to walk to the village with a kid and a dog with no whining about it being too far. The cabin is perfect for a family - our little girl had never experienced bunk beds before so that was a real treat for her. Our pup also enjoyed the fenced in yard. The cabin is also very spacious which is awesome when you have family, a dog and a ton of ski gear. The owners have been very thoughtful with providing all the amenities you needed (don't you hate when you're rummaging through a drawer for a wine opener and there isn't one?) including a Keureg, which we put to good use. The cabin was so comfortable and cozy that our daughter wanted to make it her home. The owners were fantastic with communicating the rental and checkout process, and were so accommodating and generous when we called them on a Sunday to request to stay an extra night. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Big Bear!

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter, dog and I had a fantastic experience on our weekend excursion up to Big Bear Lake. The property is extremely well located within walking distance of the village and offers everything one could want for a comfortable get-a-way (including a completely painless rental process). If you are considering rental options in the Big Bear Lake area, this one should top your list...you won't be disappointed! We hope to make it back soon for another visit ourselves!!

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was easy about the cabin -- from the rental process, to the location to the village and ski resorts, to the amenities in the kitchen, to using the heaters, and having access to the fireplace/DVD player/washer-dryer/2 showers/Keureg, and 3 TVs. The owners were also very accommodating and responsive in answering my questions in advance via email. We have to kids (11 and 13) so the room with the bunk bed was perfect for them, and we even took advantage of the board games in the family room! The king bed in the master bedroom is memory foam and VERY soft, so if you prefer a firmer bed, this may not be your favorite room to sleep in. There are lots of extra pillows and blankets, too! Everything was cozy and we took advantage of grocery shopping ahead so that we could eat breakfast in before heading out to ski. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils, and the laundry pantry has cleaning supplies, as well. We truly loved our stay and would definitely try to rent this location again for a summer or winter excursion.

Loved our stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is in a great location to walk to the village. We even did it in the snow. We had a great time playing in the back yard & in the house with our little dogs. They had never seen snow before so it was really funny watching them prance around the enclosed back yard. The cabin had everything we could possibly need for a great vacation. We would definitely stay in this cabin again next time we want to make the trek to Big Bear.

Excellent all around!

  • 5 of 5

It just so happens it was snowing the day we came into Big Bear. We made it to the property just a little early and we noticed that it had a pretty steep driveway that was covered in snow. Not long after arriving a crew showed up, sent by the owner without our request, with a snow blower and shovels to quickly groom the driveway and back yard. What a relief and a pleasant surprise! The house is very cozy and warm. It was just myself, girlfriend and our 2 small dogs. It is 2 bedrooms, one with a LARGE comfortable bed and the other with bunk beds, which we did not even use. There is also 2 bathrooms, one located near the bedrooms and the other an enormous bathroom with washer/dryer off of the living room. The front room was small but was perfect for getting ready to go out. We spent most of the time in the back family room with the large screen TV and fireplace. The TV had direct TV,which when we arrived did not have a signal. I figured it was due to the snow and I was right. I went right out back and saw the dish on the roof near the jacuzzi. With a quick wipe of my gloved hand the signal was restored. The back yard was spacious and gated. We had no fear that our 2 small pups would be at risk of escaping. The front porch also had a gate which we did not use. The property is a short walk down a slight hill to the village which made it VERY convenient. We never moved our car all weekend. There were plenty of utensils, a Keurig coffee maker, toaster over and all the amenities you could possibly need. We loved this place and can't wait for our next trip back! Thank you Michelle & Jeremy!

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Big Bear for a quick get away from San Diego. Cabin location is idea - walking distance to the village, super close to the lake or the slopes. It's cozy and comfortable with everything you need as a home away from home. Even the dogs were comfortable! Would definitely come back!!
