Hood River House Rental Photos and Description
House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Enjoy your own cozy Hood River getaway at this charming three bedroom vacation home. Just a half a mile from all the goings-on in downtown Hood River, you're also a mere 35 miles to Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, with all the wineries, shops, hiking and biking trails you could ask for in between. And the property is even dog-friendly, so there's no need to leave your furry family members behind!
When you arrive, you're sure to be delighted by the curb appeal, with its white picket fence, landscaped yard, and wraparound front porch. Once inside, you'll find a formal living room with comfortable, floral furniture, art placed just-so on the walls, and nice accessories like classic light fixtures, ceiling beams, and crown moulding. In this light, relaxing space, you can settle in for the night to watch some cable on the TV or pop in a DVD.
The large and bright eat-in kitchen features a dining table and all the appliances needed for creating delicious vacation meals. Prepare a big pot of soup or a hearty lasagna for a chilly evening in. After dinner, everyone can pitch in to help with dishes and clean up.
Need to do a little work? A large u-shaped desk makes for an ideal travel office space, a place to sketch in your travel journal, or open up your laptop and play some games. There's WiFi throughout the house, so staying connected is easy here. On the main level of this home, you'll even have a full-sized washer and dryer in case you get a little dirty while out exploring the beautiful Columbia Gorge and the bustling town of Hood River.
Upstairs, three bedrooms await, all with unique, dormer-style ceilings. One with bright red walls has a king sized bed, a lovely iron bed frame, and small sitting area. The other bedroom has its own king bed, as well as striped wallpaper and a row of windows that let in a lot of natural light. A children's room is bright and cheery with French toile wallpaper and two twin beds with toys, books, and room to play. This home will sleep up to six guests comfortably, as well as two dogs with a $10 per day, per pet fee ($40 minimum per stay).
A small landing off the stairs holds an extra storage dresser and a small sitting area - borrow a book from one of the shelves and spend a quiet afternoon reading by the window. This home also has one full bathroom.
After a day downtown, retire to oversized padded deck chair to admire the rose garden or sip tea on a rainy day. There's also a gas grill for cooking up some steaks or vegetable skewers after a day out exploring.
Ski, snowboard, or snowshoe at Mt. Hood Meadows (only a 45 minute drive away) by day and return to scenic downtown Hood River at night for local wine, breweries, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Take a brewery tour at Full Sail Brewing, or stop at the local favorite across the river at Everybody's Brewing for a pub burger or sweet potato burrito, deck views of Mt. Hood, and crisp pints of the Everybody's India Session Ale. And when you have had your fill of all that Hood River's has to offer, retire to your cottage home just six blocks up from the main drag.
From this cozy cottage, it's only 25 miles east on the Mt. Hood Scenic Byway to the famous Tamanawas Falls. With a distance of 3.6 miles roundtrip, this hike has an elevation gain of 590 feet, but is good for everyday hikers as well as novices. At about the two mile mark, you will be rewarded with a nice view upstream to Tamanawas Falls. Only 25 miles away is Lost Lake Resort - the perfect place for a scenic lake hike, or to use the public boat launch on the south side of the day use area.
Mountain bikers will enjoy time at Post Canyon, only about four miles away. This well-known, free-ride trail includes an abundance of wooden features, steep hills, and sweet jumps. Of course, Hood River has enough galleries, shops, and other in-town attractions to please vacationers that would rather sip a nice pinot noir at a local winery than head to the outdoor trails.
Come explore the Columbia River Gorge and the postcard-perfect town of Hood River with a stay at this charming and historic cottage right near downtown! Whether you ski, mountain bike, or browse galleries, you'll easily succumb to Hood River's charms.
