This home will provides that warm, fuzzy feeling of going to grandma's house. Gather around the fire pit, sharing old stories and fond memories with your family. The rolling creek, coupled with an occasional croaking frog and crickets chirping, in the background provides a beautiful backdrop for your stay.
Relax on the screened-in porch, sitting on rocking chairs with your first cup of coffee in the morning. Or relax the evening away in the seven to eight-person hot tub, nestled on the edge of the forest.
This charming getaway is perfect for couples and smaller families. Reasonable rates are offered in this comfortable, clean, quiet cabin - with fun, charming decor. The cabin is fitted with a 70-inch mounted flat-screen TV, with sound bar, Apple TV (just bring your Apple account, Hulu or Netflix account) and super-fast, 20 MBps Internet connection.
All bedrooms have 40-inch flat-screen TVs, plus the cabin has two full baths, complete cable TV service, board games, washer/dryer, outdoor gas grill, ceiling fans and more.

Explore nearby Daniel Boone National Forest and the Big South Fork National Recreation Area, including one of the highest elevations in Kentucky including some of the best-kept-secret hiking, camping and natural outdoor wonder in the entire country. Frankly, it's gorgeous down here and there aren't that many visitors to the park service areas.
Day trips are aplenty. Just 25 miles to the famous Cumberland Falls, including the full-moon-induced moonbow (the only one in the northern hemisphere), horseback riding, whitewater rafting, airplane rides and more - all within a short radius. Two hours away is Mammoth Cave National Park with year-round comfortable underground caves - open all year-round except Christmas Day. Renting a boat - from pontoon to ski - is a great family and/or friend activity on the very nearby Lake Cumberland. Burnside Marina is about 20 minutes away and is one of the best reasons for visiting. If you bring your own boat, Lake Cumberland Resort has its own boat ramp into the South Fork and is just 3 minutes from the cabin's front stoop.
Golfing is fantastic at the newly re-designed 18-hole General Burnside State Park golf course - just 15 minutes away. Lee's Ford, another great golf course, is 30 minutes away on the newly-completed Ky. State Route 914 bypass.
The resort itself has its own convenience store, on-site maintenance and 24-hour patrolling security, plus the whole community is gated. The small town of Somerset (pop. 11,000) has it's own indoor shopping mall, plenty of restaurants, an airport, specialty shops, flea markets, major retailers and a major hospital, friendly folks and much, much more.

About Marilyn Simerly
Grandma's Cabin is owned by, well, grandma. Her name is Anna Conrad, and I'm, Joe, her grandson. We work closely together to make this place special - not only for our family, but now yours, too. Grandma and I, like many grandmas and their grandsons, share a special bond. These days I do most of the upkeep on her main home and help with her with lots of other stuff. This 'extra' home is the place she bought as a special place for our family to go together to share holidays and summer vacations together. We still do that from time to time, but now, with grandma not exactly being the spring chicken she once was, that doesn't happen as often anymore and we'd like to open our 'special place' to others to share and grow their own memories, much like we have over the years. We still will pop down from time to time, but not as much. We still love it very much, but think now is a good time to share what we love so much with you and your family.
Marilyn Simerly purchased this house in 1999
Why Marilyn Simerly chose Burnside
After my grandfather died, grandma surprised us all and bought this home in Cumberland as a good place for us all to meet or just enjoy on our own, with our families. We have cared for it tenderly, decorated personally by grandma herself and even done some updating of appliances and amenities in the past year to make it even more inviting. Grandma's Cabin is just some place we bought and forgot about. We come from relatively modest means and this place reflects our family's strong work ethic - and the rewards that go with it (like being able to buy a place later in life for the entire family to enjoy). We've had lots of fun here, we've made it comfortable for ourselves and now we'd like to share that love and accommodations perfect for making great memories with you.
What makes this house unique
Grandma's Cabin is close to our home in Cincinnati - just a short 2 hour, 50 minute drive from downtown. So, it's far enough way to feel like we've gone away, but haven't driven all day to get there. The same goes for lots of other big cities nearby like Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Knoxville, Nashville and Asheville.
Then we you get there, Grandma's Cabin is nestled along the forest with nothing behind us and nothing beside us. It's beautiful. But you're close to the 'big' city of Somerset and all the beauty surrounding us in the Cumberland Plateau, Lake Cumberland, the Big South Fork National Recreation Area and, of course, the Daniel Boone National Forest.
