About Ray Ivy
I worked for The St. Joe Company as a Project Manager, building several of the premium homes in WaterColor and WaterSound. I built this home myself, finishing it in early 2009 and lived here for several years before moving to Atlanta. I currently work for Southface Energy Institute as a trainer and technical advisor, helping developers design and build sustainable homes and communities. We hope to move back into this wonderful home at some point down the road.
Ray Ivy purchased this house in 2009
Why Ray Ivy chose Blue Mountain Beach
Like many others, I grew up coming to the Florida Gulf Coast on vacations almost every summer. I always liked the 30-A area because it was convenient to everything but far enough away avoid big crowds. Destin is slowly creeping eastward but Point Washington State Forest will always function as a buffer to minimize commercial development. Plus the building height restriction wisely instituted long ago by Walton County prevents high rise condos and keeps the area feeling a bit more like Old Florida. Blue Mountain Beach is relaxed and laid-back but not far from many amenities, so it's a great place to live and vacation.
What makes this house unique
Watching the amazing sunrises and sunsets...falling asleep to the sound of the surf with the breeze blowing on your face...grilling fresh seafood on the deck with family and friends...you can't put a price on these things.
We live sustainably and used our knowledge and experience to build this home to be comfortable, healthy, safe, durable and energy efficient. Our home uses geothermal energy for heating and cooling. Cleaning products used in the home are non-toxic. Extra care was taken to make our home very strong and resistant to high winds. Solar panels will be installed on the home one day that will generate most of the electricity used.
Blue Mountain Breeze is a great home in a great location with a great atmosphere surrounded by great people. We have been truly blessed.
