This is a great classic ski cabin at the pass. Sleeping accommodations consist of two bedrooms with queen beds, a queen bed and a full sized futon in a loft, and one queen sized sleeper sofa in the basement.
Upstairs there a large loft with a pool table and bath room with a shower. It's a spacious room with a nook that contains a queen bed and then a full futon is tucked around a corner by the rail over looking the great room below. This is a classic ski cabin right out of Hot Tub Time Machine (minus the hot tub).
The lower level is down a steep set of stairs but is closed completely off by a latched railing (if you have small kids please see the attached photo). Downstairs has a couple of couches, a foosball table and a media center complete with tons of VHS movies (yes, VHS movies).
The main level contains a spacious kitchen, two queen bedrooms and a updated bathroom. The great room has a covered side entrance which is great for storing boots, snow clothes, etc. and then a large slider that empties to a walk off deck facing the mountain and all of the snow.
The home is located just off the Hyak Exit at the top of the pass in the center of this mountain paradise. From mountain biking and hiking in the summer to skiing and sledding in the winter this is the perfect stop for your next active vacation.
We did enjoy our stay over Christmas with our large family and the Cabin was big enough to accommodate us. The owner worked with us in a timely manner and as it was a late reservation we were glad to find a place. There amenities were correct as far as the sleeping options and other activities such as the pool table and foos ball. There is table/bar seating for 7 adults and we brought a card table for kids which helped. There is NO internet though and that was did pose a problem. The only internet available was a wireless connection through the house next door and was not strong enough to work on all but one of our devices (when sitting in a certain spot and pointing the computer a certain way). This was a further complication in that the Manager states on his voicemail to email him for faster service. Very little cell service as well form three carriers so we couldn't use the internet at all.
The listing photo's were accurate although the Pool table is upstairs so it is heard throughout the house. That was a surprise, but it was fine. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment and two coffee makers but not much room to put things as it is full. Would be nice to have a cupboard or pantry designated for guests. The downstairs door could be closed for card games and that worked well.
We enjoyed the close proximity to Cross-country skiing and sledding. Slopes weren't open, but would be nice and close as well.
Parking was unclear unless we were to park on the "grass?" The neighbors had 6-7 cars when we arrived so we parked on the road. I did not see two spots as listed. There is a need for sand/salt or number for a plow to be reached as the road was not plowed after rain and even with chains it was treacherous getting out. If the plow had come the night before it would have helped tremendously. We had to rescue other travelers to get out ourselves. The deck was dangerously slippery and could not find sand or salt available or at the nearby gas stations. Manager was unreachable for hours in an emergent situation. That was disappointing to say the least. Will be bringing salt next year and checking for emergency numbers ahead of time.
