'La Remise a Megan' is a charming traditional ski/summer self catering rental chalet with wooden deck, garden and covered parking. It is tastefully decorated, all wooden interior and extremely well equipped with all home comforts. It is sitiated in a quiet hamlet near the centre of the unspoilt ski and summer resort of Les Contamines-Montjoie which nestles just below the Mont Blanc. Les Contamines is renowned for its exceptional snow cover between December and late April and uncrowded, well groomed runs to suit all levels and accessible off piste. In summer there are a multitude of sports, activities, entertainment and places to visit nearby. It is particularly well known for its fabulous walking and stunning views. Les Contamines remains one of the few inexpensive, unexploited ski resorts of the French Alps. The owners, Sarah (English) and Bruno (French) are knowledgeable locals who are on hand to help make your stay a memorable one.

This traditional wooden chalet has a warm cosy interior consisting of 2 bedrooms (one double, one triple) on the 1st floor. Ground floor has bathroom, toilet and open plan living/dining/kitchen area. The chalet is extremely well equipped and comfortable. All bed linen and towels are supplied, the kitchen has all the modern appliances you could wish for and the living area has t.v, dvd, cd/radio etc. The chalet has a large south facing, sheltered wooden deck, garden and off road parking. Bathroom has bath, shower, washing machine, toilet, hair dryer. Garden has childrens swings and plenty of space to play.

Les Contamines-Montjoie is situated at the foot of the Mont Blanc at the end of a picturesque valley. Access is easy by car being only 15 mins from the motorway and 1 hrs drive from Geneva airport. Les Contamines-Montjoie is in the Haute Savoie region of the Alps, close to St Gervais, Megeve and Chamonix. It is on the famous summer 'tour of mont blanc' hike and close to the Italian and Swiss borders making it a perfect touring base. From December to late April Les Contamines is a skiers paradise with 120kms of well groomed runs and plenty of safe, accessible off piste. It is suitable for all levels of skier. The resort is renowned for its excellent snow all season and rare lift queues. It remains unspoilt, traditional in style and inexpensive. On the ski slopes there are plenty of cosy little mountain restaurants. There is excellent cross country skiing on the valley floor and a natural ice skating rink in the village centre.

Notes: The chalet is equipped with child stair gate at the top of the stairs. On demand we can supply travel cot, high chair, children's/babies toys, dvds etc and 3 wheeler pushchair free of charge. Bed linen and towels (and bath mats, tea-towels, table cloth etc) are supplied free of charge and beds made up for your arrival. The garden is child friendly. Whilst we love dogs we will only accept dogs in our chalet if you can assure us of their good behavior (and pay a damage/cleaning deposit). If this is the case your dog is welcome and we are happy to help make the necessary vets appointment etc for your return to the UK.

The owners: Sarah and Bruno, the owners are knowledgeable locals who are on hand before and during your stay to help in any way to organise your holiday eg in winter to help you book your ski lessons (we recommend Bruno, ESF instructor, for private ski lessons) , lift passes, equipment hire and be on hand for all local advice. In summer they can advise you on the local walking, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering etc as well as places to visit in the region. (Within one hours drive are Geneva, Annecy, Chamonix) A raclette or pierrade machine are at your disposal if you fancy trying these local specialities at home. They are happy to advise on local restaurants and help you make the most of your stay in every way.

Summer activities: Les Contamines is on the famous 'tour of Mont Blanc' walking route and is a fantastic base for an active holiday with a multitude of walking routes as well as mounaineering, climbing, mountain biking, tennis, swimming (5 mins drive to a beautiful outdoor heated pool). For families there are many entertainments laid on locally, a pretty boating lake and swimming lake with playgrounds, crazy golf etc. Or if you need a rest you can just sit back and enjoy the splendid views all around us and a good selection of local restaurants. Nearby cable cars and tramways allow easy access to high mountain scenery.

Our 15th stay in Les Contamines in 7 years tells you something about how you never forget this little corner of the Alps. Absolute bliss, beautiful scenery and walks. Genuine French mountain village atmosphere with all the attractions of Chamonix just 20 mins away. The chalet, handbuilt by Bruno Mollard is a gem and very comfortable and Sarah & Bruno's hospitality as always really makes the experience. Les Contamines feels like our second home and I hope Les Contamines will be our first home very soon, cant recommend enough for all seasons!

A perfect stay in the mountains!

We loved our week long stay in our chalet. You could tell the chalet was built with love with all the beautiful hand woodworking throughout. Sarah and Bruno were welcoming and helpful in planning our daily hikes. The kitchen was so well stocked that we cooked all our meals instead of having to go out late in the evening for dinner. The chalet felt very private and quiet, had nice views out our window, and a nice front deck to sit back and relax. We, also, enjoyed watching the provided videos in the evening. Thanks for a great visit, we just wish we lived closer so we could return more often.

Summer in the Mountains

We had a lovely week at Remise a la Megane. The property is cute, romantic and very well equipped throughout and the owners friendly and helpful. We visited two of the recommended restaurants (L'Air du Temps and O a la Bouche) in the nearby village and thoroughly enjoyed both of these very different experiences! Bruno talked us through the walking map and highlighted some spectacular ones - all with a chalet restaurant en route. My only negative would be the proximity of the main road into Les Contamines and the resulting traffic noise. We had been expecting a more peaceful location.

August Family Holiday in the French Alps

Arrived in the late evening and received a lovely welcome. Sarah and Bruno offered all the help we would have wished. Le Bothy was beautifully clean and really well equipped. Eating all our meals outside was a pleasure and the children had the run of a large and well maintained garden. The kitchen and bathroom, really important for us and three daughters, worked really well.
Getting out to use the ski-lifts for walking, market day in Les Contamines and a host of activities in the park at the top of the valley gave us more than enough to do.
The hosts were great and there is to my mind no doubt that another's experience would be as good as ours.
