Woodhill Farm has been owned and mostly owner occupied by our family for thirty five years. With over 165 acres of open fields and wooded trails, including a 5 acre pond, it's a great place to cross country ski, snow shoe and hike.
The house is complete with a full kitchen, mostly stocked with cutlery and cooking items. Linens are included, and there is a washer and dryer in the basement.
The farmhouse is cozy and very conducive to relaxing and enjoying the company of the friends and family you brought down with you. We've never had a television at the farm... feel free to bring your own, but we don't think you'll need it!
In the winter, get a good fire going to warm you up (there's forced air, too). There are plenty of games and books to keep you entertained after a long day at Holiday Valley or a cross country ski out back.
In the summer, enjoy a natural stone patio overlooking the lower fields. Bocce, croquet and badminton will keep you busy for hours!
The farmhouse is right on the road with an easily accessible driveway and parking area; there is a well traveled dirt road to the pond and back of the property.
Our dad bought the property in 1978. Although we grew up in Buffalo, we spent most weekends and vacations in Ellicottville enjoying the privacy and simple beauty of 'the farm'. Since then, the three of us have lived all over the world and are now resettled in Ellicottville.
At different points in its history, the farm has been a working farm, with goats, beef cattle, chickens and ducks, but it is out of action for the time being. We've spent the last six or seven Thanksgivings there, and we've each called it home, at least briefly, over the past few years.
It's been in the family for thirty five years, but we each have our own homes. Renting the farm during the winter and occasional long weekends throughout the year allows us to enjoy the property when we want to and keep it affordable.
The acreage makes this property ideal for visitors who want a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy seasonal activities other than, or in addition to, downhill skiing. Logging paths have created great trails for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. The pond provides clear water for a refreshing dip after a hot day hiking or mountain biking. We often take a grill and dinner back to the pond in the summer for cookouts... the setting is amazing!
Although it's only a five minute drive to both Holiday Valley and the Village of Ellicottville, you'll feel like you're in another world when you're at the farm!
