Come stay on the Rocking chair ranch home of the the bridle suite and share in the Paniolo lifestyle. Walk downstairs in the morning with your coffee and say hello to the horses and Tequila the donkey. From your living room table you can look down on the cowboys all day in their daily activities of training, roping, cutting or dressage. On many weekends 100 local cowboys come over to rope in a friendly jackpot or horse show.
You are only 5 miles from the best restaurants on the Big Island but you wake up every morning to green pastures and trees, not a house in sight! Recently built the Bridle Suite contains artwork and artifacts from Hawaii and it's cowboys. The ranch consist of 300+ acres to hike, picnic and walk.
Were just 15 miles up from the white sand beaches of Maumai, Hapuna, Puako and Mauna Kea.
We were both born and raised in Hawaii. Brought up around horses and cattle and still actively rope and ride daily.Joan's dad was the manager of the Parker Ranch for many years and she has seen

You come to Hawaii to enjoy nature and the peace and quiet it offers. We are up country where nights are cool and the beaches are just minutes away. The best of both worlds.
Hawaii's largest equestrian center.
This was a completely new experience for city folks like us. We woke upto a stunning shade of green and horses roaming in a wide open space. Our room was comfortable with cool cowboy decor.
I was grateful for the coffee and wifi. This was a great alternative to touristy resorts.
Our 15 year old son was grateful to have wifi access. My husband
We had a great time visiting with the horses and young riders. Our little girl loved playing with the dogs and seeing all the ranch activity. Fun place, comfortable bed, all the kitchen accessories needed to make a meal--we cooked dinner and breakfast, large bathroom. Worked perfectly for 2 adults and a 4 year old. We even saw a full double rainbow one morning--very beautiful place. Visitors should be aware of what living on a ranch means--you will probably get up early as they begin feeding animals early.
I completely enjoyed my three days on the ranch. At home, I have my colt boarding right next door and this 2nd floor charming studio made me feel right at home. Everything was clean with the proper cowboy (cowgirl) decor for kicking back, relaxing. You can view young riders honing their skills of cattle roping and multiple horses being trained from the basics to advanced showmanship. I didn't need the TV.
I was on business as well as relaxing and found my every need met and will return again. From the talk in the towns coffee stops and shops, Rocking Chair Ranch is the place to be for real horse people.
This place is great, perfect size for a couple, clean, and a great shower. Good location (if you don't mind being a few miles out of town), in the middle of ranch-land, quiet, and lots of horses around you! We were extremely lucky that there was a roping-event during our stay, which was a lot of fun. We had a great time!
I stayed here with my little girls for a few nights this winter and we loved it. The accommodation was clean with a great rustic paniolo feel. While it suited our family of 3 just fine for 3 nights, I don't know if most groups of three would be as comfortable. I do feel that it would be perfect for a couple to spend some quality time together. The only disappointment is that I didn't get to meet Brian, the owner, until the morning we were leaving as he was away on business during our stay. From our correspondence and our brief discussion, it is clear that he has a joyous nature. Previous guest comments suggest that he was the highlight of their stay.
The Bridle Suite is located above the covered arena where daily we train horses, and ride. Frequent activities are cutting, dressage and roping.
