This prime property is brand new to the Vacation and Corporate rental markets but not new to it’s owner who has been in the vacation / corporate rental business for years. This property has been the pride and joy of its owner since 2006. David takes enormous pride in the heritage of Hollywood and the restoration of its unique historical and architectural history. You are sure to find staying here a memorable and valuable experience.
Gina Martin purchased this bungalow in 2006
Hollywood is a vibrant, bustling town and this is a truly perfect location from which to tour LA. The studio, guest house is fully self-contained and may also be rented separately for maximum 2 guests.
Ten minutes away, by foot there is an enormous, hip, new LA Fitness and Starbucks. A short drive to either the 101 Freeway or Cahuenga Blvd. gets you to Grauman’s Chinese /Walk of Fame /Hollywood/Highland complex, Hollywood Bowl, Melrose Avenue, Cinerama Dome, subway stations that connect you to downtown, countless gyms, shops, tours, restaurants theaters and night clubs. This home and its rear studio guest house (when available sleeps 2, total 6) is freeway close and convenient to the Valley, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills by car or metro.
Set among mature trees and a forest of bamboo, this house is situated on a sleepy, windy road, just 3 minutes from the 101 Freeway. You will feel like you are miles away from the action of the City..but you're not!
We have been to Los Angeles a few times for vacation and have always stayed in hotels. This time we tried the vacation home rental route. Having never done this before we were a little sceptical. Well after staying in David's beautiful Hollywood Hills property, we will never stay in a hotel again while on vacation.
The pictures do not do this property justice. The pictures are great but the home is AMAZINGLY AWESOME. The neighbourhood is beautiful and very quiet. We had the most peaceful sleeps ever in those oh so comfortable beds.
This location was perfect for the events we had planned. We went to hockey games in Aneheim and at the Staples center and both were easy to get to being a few minutes from a major highway. A few streets over and you are on Mullholland Drive checking out where the stars live. Five minute drive to Hollywood and Vine, 10 minutes to the action on Sunset Strip. And Universal Studios is within walking distance (if you like to walk).
The owner David was very pleasant and Gina answered all of our questions promptly.
There was only one major problem with our stay at this wonderful property, we didn't stay long enough. Next time we will.
We decided to try this out instead of getting a hotel when we went to Universal Studios and WOW am I glad we did. The house is exactly as it shows in the pictures and is in great condition. The location is about 5 minutes from Universal Studios and close to other areas like Hollywood, etc. We couldn't believe how quiet the area is around the house as well. You feel like you are miles away from the city. Everything in the house was great including the WIFI (this is a big one for most people!). We worked with Gina and she was available for all questions from the time we made first contact until after we checked out. There were 5 of us staying at the house, 2 of those being kids so we had plenty of room. We did bring an air mattress for one of the kids to use just so they didn't have to use the couch, but that was simple! We would 100% recommend this to anyone that wants to stay close to Universal Studios without spending the money on a hotel.
Where should I start ! Communicating with Gina and David was very easy and they replied, each time I had a question, very promptly. We got there at night and got in with ease.(all the entry instructions were mailed earlier). The next morning we went to Universal...and its literally just a 5 minute drive. And we came back home in the evening and enjoyed a hot cup of tea in the backyard. The house itself looks exactly as shown in pics and it is so quiet and secluded. Mornings by the bamboo trees was just a serene experience. Perfect for families...so secluded yet so close to the freeways and literally in the heart of the city.
Thanks ever so much to David and Gina for facilitating our rental of this gorgeous property. We were in town for a workaday vacation, helping college students relocate housing. The moment I set foot in this bungalow, I knew it would be our refuge for the next 12 days.
First of all, the photos of this property were enticing as we love the mid-century modern aesthetic. But the reality was only better. A sense of peace pervaded the space including the wonderful outdoor area. Visited by birds and a returning squirrel, I felt like I was in a remote, sheltered space. As others have mentioned, however, the world was at our feet, at the foot of the hill. We got to explore a 'new to us' part of LA, Cahuenga Pass and Studio City, a taste of the Valley. So much convenience so close at hand. Restaurants, grocery store, car wash (for those needy student cars), gyms, massage, coffee shops, nightlife...all a short drive down Ventura Blvd. We had breakfast or lunch most days at the Good Neighbor Restaurant, relaxing, friendly, and very neighborly.
For those visiting Universal City, this couldn't be a better location. (We'd been before, so didn't go this time). We did, however, head into Hollywood a few evenings for Arclight Cinema, Amoeba Records, and our regular visit to the amazing Yamashiro Restaurant with its stupendous view of LaLaLand. All readily available from the property as would be the usual Hollywood haunts, Chinese Theatre, Walk of Stars, etc. The house is a stone's throw from the Hollywood Bowl as well, with Griffith Park and the Observatory and Los Feliz just beyond.
A winding drive through the hills brings you through to West Hollywood and on into Beverly Hills where our son was working. Not a bad drive, even in rush hour. The 101 is also at your doorstep, and led us to downtown and the USC area, which we visited on a regular basis.
So we were ideally situated for all the goings-on and goings-out we had ... going on.
But the best of the best was the house itself. Spanking, sparkling clean and decorated with peaceful neutrals popped with joyful color. Room-darkening shades, if you need, but we preferred the lights and sights of the outdoors, made private by the surrounding foliage. Plenty of room for our party of 4. Two luxurious bathrooms, one with tub AND shower. A fireplace (for cooler weather). A kitchen that you never wanted to leave ... I ran out of room, so will start another review.
This property is as good as all the reviews say it is. The house has everything you need and nothing you don't. It is spotlessly clean, exceptionally comfortable and quiet despite the accessible location. There are remarkable neighborhood restaurants nearby. If you need to get into Burbank and Hollywood, this is an ideal find.
