Hakalau House Rental Photos and Description
4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps up to 8
The only way to stay closer to the ocean would to be in a boat. Sit back and watch the cruise ships slowly pass by knowing that the passengers aboard are truly envying your luxurious accommodations. This elegant and spacious home offers a nearly 180 degree of the mighty Pacific ocean where you can relax and watch whales as they suddenly breach the blue water, spinner dolphins playfully chase a passing fishing vessel and the rising sun at it welcomes you to an amazing array of morning colors.
Walk through the front door into a vaulted great room with expansive windows looking out to the ocean and all that it has to offer. Hardwood floors, granite kitchen counters, two separate bedroom/bath suites each with its own lanai from which to enjoy the cool breezes from the ocean. The spacious oceanfront lanai of the house also has an outdoor sink/bar for outdoor entertaining. The home is furnished with high quality furniture that has been handcrafted using several different types of Hawaiian hardwood, lots of beautiful artwork and comfortable furniture. The only thing you will hate about this house is leaving!
The main house features two spacious bedrooms, the Hamakua and the Hilo, each boasting its own private bath. This allows for comfortable accommodations for four persons. The bathroom of the Hamakua room features an extra large, luxurious Jacuzzi tub with full glass windows offering a wide open ocean view. In addition, a separate door off of the Hamakua bath leads you onto a nice wooden lanai and a fabulous, outdoor shower. This shower is covered by wood and vines on three sides yet open on the ocean side. Don't worry about privacy as their isn't another house on either side of the property.
The separate 2 bedroom/1 bath guest house, which sits above the garage, is also well furnished and has its own private and spacious deck. While slightly more simple than the main house, the guest house still offers exceptional comfort, a full kitchen, washer/dryer and of course, breathtaking views. Double sliding glass doors of the guest house lead out to a very spacious upper lanai with breathtaking, picturesque views.
Hilo is known for its warm aloha spirit, relaxed lifestyle, unique shops, art galleries and restaurants with local regional cuisine. Local attractions include Lyman Museum, East Hawaii Cultural Center, historic Palace Theatre, Pacific Tsunami Museum, Imiloa Astronomy Center, UH Hilo Performing Arts Center and Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens. Hilo Farmer's Market is a favorite for fresh, local produce. Merrie Monarch Festival, Hilo's premier hula competition and cultural event, is held annually. Hilo's black sand beaches and freshwater pools are some of the best for snorkeling, diving, surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming with turtles and tropical fish, or watching the whales off shore. Take a helicopter volcano tour or short scenic drive to active Kilauea volcano to view a lava flow, ride horses in Waipio Valley or tour the summit and view the night skies of Mauna Kea.
Weddings, graduations, receptions or large gatherings may be allowed with the owner's prior consent and only by arrangement with our event planning and management services. Contact us in advance to facilitate your special occasion set in the privacy of the beautiful oceanfront home and gardens.

Guestbook comments from the manager
A recent post form our Guest Book.....My family & I greatly enjoyed our recent visit to Pali Lani, a truly unique and special oceanfront home with an awesome flower garden. The property featured beautifully crafted hardwood furniture pieces, with taste and attention to detail. Bamboo floors all over.. Great master and guest bedrooms with private lanais.. A Chef's kitchen with anything you could possibly need for your culinary creations. A master bathroom with double shower and jacuzzi tub featuring unobstructed view towards the ocean- very romantic. Ah, the sunsets, the breeze.. The stars! A short drive to Hilo, convenient location- beautiful and private. Would love to visit again in the near future! Special thanks to Steve for being such a great host- aloha & mahalo!

Steve and I are truly blessed to be not only residents of the Big Island but to have the opportunity to manage such an incredible home for our dear friends. Helen and John, the owners, share our compassion in ensuring our guests feel the true spirit of Aloha while staying at the Pali Lani Seaside Lodge. So that our incoming guests know, in Hawai'i, we like to hug a lot! So if you reach out to shake a hand here, don't be surprised if they give you a hug in return. While you are here, you are family! It's the Hawaiian way of life.
We sat on the lanai, saw an amazing humpback whale explosively breach the blue water right before our eyes and we were hooked!
The home sits on the most private and tranquil property you will find. As you approach the home, beautiful, wrought gates slowly open inviting you to your own tropical paradise. Surrounded by vacant land on all sides, you will hear nothing but the sound of the ocean. In season, maybe even a few whales singing to each other.
