Dennison House is your private wooded retreat (sits well off the road in the woods) on a 15 acre ranch only two miles from the Giant Sequoia National Monument at 2800-feet elevation.
Surrounded on three sides by oak woodland and massive granite boulders, it has a spectacular view to the north of Dennison Peak and the snow-covered Sierra. A large private spring fed pond (1/3 acre) for swimming and fishing is a 3 minute walk from the house and there are 15 acres of woodland and creeks for rambling with your dogs and kids (dogs not allowed at the lake because of ranging livestock). Introduce the kids to our friendly goat herd that ranges part of the ranch.
A large Teepee and straw bale play yard is located near the house May-October for kids' play. There is a bumper pool table, poker table, croquet set, board games and toy box, Wifi, extensive DVD collection and stereo with iPod/iPhone dock to keep everyone amused with having to leave the ranch.
A comprehensive hiking and recreation binder is provided at the house with maps and descriptions of local hikes, Big Trees, swimming and fishing holes, waterfalls, and scenic drives and horseback rides to help you plan your time.
Dog owners can take their dogs on the leash onto the Giant Sequoia National Monument trails in this area as opposed to the National Park where dogs are not allowed on trails.
The 2900 sq ft house is recently refurbished and tastefully furnished with rustic country antiques and cool cowboy art. Cozy up to the wood-burning stove and play games, enjoy our DVD collection (stocked with kids' favorites too) on the new 42' plasma screen, or read a book from our fiction collection. The house has 3 queen bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 bedroom with 2 twins. Two bedrooms have connecting doors to baths. Queens and double have pillow top mattresses, down comforters and high thread count sheets for a comfy sleep. The living room has 2 queen sleeper sofas.
Drive just a few more miles up the mountain and see untouristed ancient Giant Sequoia groves, waterfalls and idyllic mountain lakes at Balch Park or Ponderosa or use the house as a hub for some of the best bicycle and motorcycle touring roads in the Sierras. Rent horses from Balch Park Pack Station for hourly or overnight riding. Our mountain region is a mecca for rock climbers, snow mobilers, back country horseman, and hang gliders.
There are many opportunities for fishing on Success Lake, the roaring Tule River and beautiful mountain lakes. Water sport enthusiasts will enjoy local Lake Success for jet skiing, boating and water skiing. Our area also has Eagle Mountain Casino for gaming, and River Island Country Club for golfing.
Naturalists and Bird watchers have wildlife wiewing galore in our untouched part of the Sierra. Roadsides, pastures and woodlands come alive in the Spring with native wildflowers and blossoming Redbuds and Dogwoods.
Take the scenic drive up Yokohl Valley road to the nearby towns of Exeter or Visalia and enjoy antiquing and art hunting in their historic downtowns. We are nearby the quaint untouched village of Springville with lovely gift shops and diverse eateries from downhome to upscale. Go for a tour of Tulare county's many murals in our historic old west towns or drive the Blossom Trail in April-May for miles of Apple blossoms in local orchards. Come slow down with us and enjoy a secret part of the Sierra largely undiscovered by tourists.
Come to the Springville area for our Springville Sierra PRCA Rodeo in late April or our popular Apple Festival craft and food fair in mid-October. Our spectacular wildflower season is March through May.

I, my husband Matt and son Sam live at Three Springs Ranch near Sequoia in the Sierra foothills. We have an ongoing experiment with sustainable farming and hike, camp and travel when we can get away. We live here with our goat herd, chicken flock, 2 dogs, large veggie garden and 2 orchards.
We loved this beautiful area of the Sequoia/ Sierra that is closest to the LA area but largely undiscovered by tourists. After we committed to the 'simple life' and moved from LA, we thought it would be great to use our skills from building sets in the film industry to recreate some neglected cabins that had great locations and lots of potential so that others might be able to enjoy this rich area comfortably.
The Mt Dennison House was our first project and sits well off the county road behind the woods for privacy, but is a short drive to the Giant Sequoia groves and the charming town of Springville.
The Mt. Dennison House has an awesome view of Mt. Dennison, is a short walk to a lovely spring fed swimming pond and is surrounded by 15 private acres of woods, boulders and creeks to explore.
