South Kona Hideaway is a licensed Bed and Breakfast perched 800 feet above some of the best snorkeling Hawaii has to offer. We are situated between Honaunau (Place of Refuge) and Kealakekua Bay, home of a pod of spinner dolphins. Your beautifully decorated suite has a living room with a queen sofa bed, large flat screen television with cable, HBO, and Showtime. Your living room opens onto a large lanai, where you can relax by the fire pit, light your tiki torches, and have a cocktail before grilling some fresh fish you bought a mile up the street. After dinner you can get into the hot tub for a soak and admire the variety of tropical flowers and trees on the property. Your spacious kitchen has a sink, microwave, toaster, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, and dining table. There is a small camp oven and stove on your front porch. The bedroom has a king sized Sleep Number bed for your comfort, and private bath with shower.
We are easy to find, located approximately 45 minutes South of the airport, 30 minutes South of Kailua-Kona (town), and 20 minutes South of Keauhou. The volcano is approximately an hour and a half Southeast on the main highway. Your suite has dedicated parking, and a private entrance.
We are a small B&B, with only two suites, and we live on site. We would be happy to help you with any arrangements such as night snorkeling with manta rays, in-suite couples massages, or deep sea fishing. Don't know what to see? We can give you some recommendations. Have a special event such as a honeymoon or wedding? We can help you with that too.
Aloha and luxury await you! Welcome home to South Kona Hideaway!
After many trips to Hawaii, we finally bought a home and relocated here in 2012 from Colorado. Tina is a retired nurse and Keri is a veterinarian. We have travelled the world in search of the best snorkeling, and this rivals the best. We are willing and happy to help with recommendations, but will otherwise be out of your way.
Tina Snapp and Keri Jones purchased this house in 2012
South Kona Hideaway is one of the most relaxing places we've ever stayed. The property is beautiful, the sunsets incredible, and you're only 10 minutes from beautiful live coral and brightly colored fish. Your own lanai and a cocktail... What more could you want?
Your continental breakfast of fresh fruits and home made baked goods will be delivered to your unit the night before and ready when you are. You can get up early or sleep in. You will not have to worry about somewhere to park, or being able to find your way back at night on a one lane jungle road. We are only half a mile off the main highway, on a 'full sized' paved road. Snorkel equipment, beach chairs, and boogie boards are available to borrow during your stay.
We stayed at South Kona Hideaway for several days in April 2015. This property is wonderful - nestled in the trees on the hillside. A perfect spot to relax and rest, or an excellent location to use as a base for exploring Captain Cook and points south, as we did. The hosts were wonderful - full of excellent recommendations about where to get provisions, eat, swim, snorkel and the best sites to visit. When we would arrive back in South Kona each night, tired from our day's activities, there was a king-sized bed to sink into! And every day, Tina brought us fresh fruit (some from their property) and homemade muffins to enjoy for our breakfast! And there was always a big basket of ripe avocados available for the taking! If you are looking for a place that is clean, comfortable and very inviting, this is a great place to stay. We'll be back!
Great place to stay. Tina's breakfasts were great and her information about the area very helpful. Snorkeling equipment was appreciated as well. The downstairs unit was a bit musty smelling but overall a good experience. Thanks for all.
We travel to Kona twice a year, and normally ready to go home after a week. This place is wonderful! For our first time, we were genuinely sad to leave. We miss the home and Tina. We miss being greeted by a smile, sharing quick stories, feeding the geckos for hours and using the time to relax. There was a wonderful surprise every night when we would return "home". Tina had made fresh muffins using the fruit from her property, and prepared a fresh fruit tray that was in the fridge. Everything in the unit was literally spotless. The dishes were clean (I know this shouldn't be something to write about, but my first time using dishes I didn't have to sort thru to find clean ones) the bedding was fresh, bathroom spotless, and floors actually shined. They have full cable for the TV watchers out there, we didn't even turn it on. Just listened to the birds and noises outside. The house is about 20-25 minutes from Ali'i drive which we refer to as "being in Kona". The drive is super easy and not a bother at all. It was so nice to be away from the noise of the city for our first time, not to mention 5 minutes away from our favorite scuba and snorkel spot. There is usually a little pod of spinner Dolphins to see in the Two Step area. If you get there while a spot is open, parking is free. There is overflow parking right there for $5. If you need ideas on where to go, Tina and Keri are so helpful. They have two dogs, Kona and Sandy that weren't a bother at all. They just mosey around their fenced area and occasionally peeked at us thru the slats on their deck. When we would look up and make eye contact with them, their little tails would almost wiggle right off their bodies. Cute dogs, and friendly. Back to the geckos, since it was our favorite morning activity, they were so many they would actually eat papaya right from our hands. Definitely used to folks in the unit which was great for us!
We will definitely be back and stay with Tina and Keri again. They made us feel so welcome and everything was so clean. We felt like we were with family, not on vacation.
We had a great time staying here. Kerri and Tina were very hospitable and provided us with the aloha spirit. We traditionally stay in Waikoloa and had such a great experience staying in this quaint area.
We'd love to stay again

The “aloha” spirit is alive, in full swing and is present everyday at this B&B.
Kerri and Tina are the “aloha hosts” and will provide a nurturing, fun and learning experience. We stayed in the Lanai Room and were greeted every night with the morning “goodies” which included many different and “yummy” fruits and Tina’s muffins that were good to the soul. The morning was as magical as the “assuming your position” for the nightly sun set (yes we final saw the green flash on the last night). The morning started with the “roster crowing” and sometimes a lone cow, then at 6:45 a chorus of bird sounds that assures you that you are in a “true paradise!”
The host are incredibly helpful about fun events, so write down or remember their information because it is right on!
This is a one of kind experience, in a rural setting of paradise that can really sing to your soul about slowing down or speeding up what ever you chose!
Jane and I want to express our deep appreciation of these “precious moment and wonderful care provide here-You could easily say, I will spend three days here and might want to spend a month-if they have the room! Thanks so much!

The apartment was comfortable and had enough space to spread out. Balcony was pretty. It was nice to have extensive beach gear available as well as use of the washer/dryer. The hosts really make an effort to ensure the comfort of their guests. Tina seems to be a natural B&B host - friendly and informative. Regrettably, we did not stay long - this place would have made an ideal base for a longer stay.
Aloha and luxury await you! We are in the heart of the Kona Coffee Belt, 10 minutes away from some of the best snorkeling on the island. Enjoy a beautifully landscaped acre of tropical flowers, coffee trees, avocados, bananas, papayas, and citrus trees. Relax in one of two private one bedroom suites with kitchenettes, living areas, and king sleep number beds. Grill some fresh fish from the market and sit on your lanai with a cocktail. Take a book and spend some alone time in the garden. Leave your stress behind and relax, refresh, and rejuvenate! We are easy to find and access... only one turn off the main highway and no 'country roads'. Luxury and Aloha await you! Welcome Home to South Kona Hideaway!
