Dennis and I have been traveling to Kona since 2000. In 2011, Dennis retired and we moved to Kona! We live three miles from the Hale Kona Kai and are available to help you at any time!

Why Sandy Powers chose Kailua Kona

The Hale Kona Kai condos are RARELY for sale! We own an oceanfront condo in the Kona Reef complex - right next door - and walk past the Hale Kona Kai on our way to town. This is a beautiful complex, very private and very well maintained. Dennis and I were thrilled to find #410! We know that being close to town/walking distance is very important to our guests, and we really like the finishes in #410.

What makes this condo unique

#410 is on the top floor. Let no one fool you, no lower floor has the awesome oceanfront view of a top floor condo. Additionally, the top floor is the most private and less noisy. Every inch of the inside of #410 is brand new - granite counter kitchen with stainless steel appliances, new sleeper sofa and recliner in the living room, new linens and quilts in the bedroom and new linens in the bath. We have one of the few walk-in tiled showers. The majority of units still have the old cast iron tub.

Could not have been any better. In fact, we had hoped it would not be so nice, since it makes going home much more difficult. If you have a chance, book a manta night dive or dolphin snorkel with Splashers. Kona Brewery has great food at reasonable prices. Please keep an eye on Norman the sea turtle for us. You can change the name, if you like!

Hale Kona Kai paradise

Fabulous! The balcony almost hangs over the water and the pounding surf. In minutes you can walk to town with shops and restaurants galore. Band because you have a spot to park out of the sun it's an ideal base of operations to explore the entire Big Island. Relaxation and adventure, the purrrrrfect combination.

Condo with Beautiful View!!

The place was at a perfect spot in Kona. It's walking distance to great restaurants, beaches, stores and art galleries. We got there late at night on the first day, however, we were still able to walk around the main street and go to some of the stores and visit the galleries. The owners were great in accomodating us on a last minute request. As other reviewers have mentione, they provide great water equipment for lounging and snorkeling. But the best thing is the view. It was so tranquil sitting on the Lanai and looking out while eating our breakfast or having drinks at night. Def. a place I would come back to again!!

Best condo in Kona

Owners are the best. They provide it all including snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, beach cooler and even money and soap for laundry! View is amazing. Awesome pool, very quiet nice cove next door with chairs and Palapas to sit under. You can walk to town and parking is covered. Condo has air and all the amenities you could want. Very comfortable bed and good access to Wifi. Recommend Humpys for a good Mai Tai and garlic shrimp. Great views too. Don't miss a trip to the Volcanoes National Park. Also best snorkeling just down the road. Will definitely return

It IS a gem!

Wow. What a find. How lucky were we to find Hale Kona Kai! Location, location, location! You are a 3 minute walk to the "Main Street" Kona, and yet, this condo building is nestled in such a quiet, peaceful, and stunningly beautiful location. You literally have the best of both worlds! The lanai is perched over the clean, inviting pool (which I always had to myself!) and so close to the crashing waves you can watch the turtles and crabs at low tide, or the sailboats a little further out. How tempting it was to just sit on the lanai and take it all in! The room is very clean and well appointed. The building itself is well managed and very charming. When we come back to Kona next time, we know exactly where we will be staying! Can't recommend it highly enough. (Note: special thank you to Sandy and her partner for being so flexible and accommodating/helpful as we were arriving directly after the hurricane!).

Kona condo

This condo was right on the water. You could watch the sunset and eat breakfast from the balcony. It was on the fourth floor. The kitchen was upgraded and stocked with everything including coconut oil. It was a pleasure to use the kitchen. The bathroom, living room and bedroom were upgraded and great. We had a parking spot numbered and it was very close to the elevator. The condo was quiet but close to restaurants.
