This is a unique home in Mill Valley--one of the early Residences. Stone steps (many) up through gorgeous gardens to the front door. Home is built on a hill, three levels with one bedroom on main floor, two on middle and one on bottom with separate entrance. Many upgrades and beauty. Walk to town with best of: theater, music, hiking, biking, shopping, etc. The bathrooms are completely updated--this home has amazing charm and ultra modern bathrooms.
We are Elizabeth, Robert & Ben, (George is the dog), originally from Chicago and fell in love with Mill Valley when we first came here five years ago. Neighborhood is lovely, location is perfect--it's paradise. We are renting our home as we need to live in the East Bay of San Francisco for work for the next year or two.
Robert purchased this house in 2010
This home was previously owned by a couple for 50 years. They built the most amazing gardens and kept the house well maintained. One peek at Mill Valley, and all the town has to offer in this in-town location and you'll understand why we fell in love with this house. Lots of steps, but worth the climb.
It's all charm, and perfect location. Beautiful outdoor nooks and EVERYONE loves this house and how easy it is to get to the best hiking, eating, and entertainment around. 12 miles to SF, 5 or so to the beach and hiking out the door. Originally our home was a cottage, built before the Golden Gate Bridge--much of the uniqueness of the home remains. Great kitchen and dinning area--perfect for families, entertaining, solitude.
Mill Valley is a picturesque California town of 14,000 residents and creative hideaway situated on the eastern slope of Mount Tamalpais.
Nestled among redwoods, hills and canyons, Mill Valley is only ten minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge and City of San Francisco, yet less than one hour from Sonoma and Napa Wine Country.
Historical Mill Valley has a unique village charm as well as its human environment-uniquely combining tranquility and liveliness, privacy and community involvement.
Starting in 1905 with The Dipsea Race, the first cross-country race in the country, Mill Valley has a rich cultural tradition with the Mountain Play in 1913, the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival in 1957, the Marin Theatre Company, a professional regional theatre in 1966, the Mill Valley Film Festival in 1978 and the 142 Throckmorton Theatre recently revived, although in existence since 1915. Re-opened in February 2012, after a lengthly absence, is the Sweetwater Music Hall located in the remodeled Masonic Hall right down town.
Mill Valley is surrounded by the picturesque City of Sausalito, 10 minutes south and the Town of Tiburon 10 minutes east with Angel Island State Park only a one mile ride (via Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry), all on San Francisco Bay. Although Mill Valley is close to San Francisco, it is adjacent to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and only 10 minutes to the Muir Woods National Monument and Tennessee Valley Trail head, 20 minutes to Muir Beach, or Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, 30 minutes to Stinson Beach and less than an hour to Point Reyes National Sea Shore. Mill Valley is only a 2-1/2 hour day trip to Monterrey and Carmel and four hours to spectacular Lake Tahoe or Yosemite National Park.
