This is a unique home in Mill Valley--one of the early Residences. Walk to attractions: Outdoor Art Club, Throckmorton Theater, Dipsea Steps and Sweetwater music venue. New concrete steps up through gorgeous gardens to the front door. Home is built on a hill, three levels with one bedroom on main floor, two on middle and one on bottom with separate entrance. Many upgrades and beauty. Walk to town with best of: theater, music, hiking, biking, shopping, etc. The bathrooms are completely updated--this home has amazing charm and ultra modern bathrooms.
We are Elizabeth, Robert & Ben, originally from Chicago and fell in love with Mill Valley when we first came here five years ago. Neighborhood is lovely, location is perfect--it's paradise. We are renting our home as we need to live in the East Bay of San Francisco for work for the next year or two.
Robert purchased this house in 2010
This home was previously owned by a couple for 50 years. They built the most amazing gardens and kept the house well maintained. One peek at Mill Valley, and all the town has to offer in this in-town location and you'll understand why we fell in love with this house. Lots of steps, but worth the climb.
It's all charm, and perfect location. Beautiful outdoor nooks and EVERYONE loves this house and how easy it is to get to the best hiking, eating, and entertainment around. 12 miles to SF, 5 or so to the beach and hiking out the door. Originally our home was a cottage, built before the Golden Gate Bridge--much of the uniqueness of the home remains. Great kitchen and dinning area--perfect for families, entertaining, solitude.
My husband and I and three teenagers enjoyed our stay at this unique old house! My husband recently had knee surgery and was skipping his physical therapy appointments while on vacation, so we figured the steps were his therapy! The owner was very responsive to a couple of questions, and we had no issues during our stay. Beautiful and comfortable kitchen - we enjoyed cooking a big Italian meal on New Years Eve! FABULOUS Muir Woods is just a few minutes away. Overall... it was fun and I'd recommend it. Beware of the steps... and the parking if you've rented a honkin' Chevy Tahoe... but other than that and the fact that they need a good old fashioned coffee maker... GO! :-)
We traveled to Mill Valley for a family wedding and were very happy to stay in such a wonderful house. There were a lot of stairs, but that is part of the charm of Mill Valley, with all of the homes tucked away in the hills. The house itself was beautiful and very well appointed with all that we needed. It was very nice that it was easy walking distance to downtown Mill Valley so we could go out to dinner and drinks without having to worry about driving. The owner was very friendly and available, though there was never a reason to call. Overall, I would definitely return for a future stay.
Our family had a great time in this house when we visited for a family wedding in Mill Valley. The house was clean, well updated and the kitchen is well stocked with anything you would need for fixing your own meals. The house is a quick walk from downtown Mill Valley. A great option for anyone, as long as you're ok with stairs! It is quite a walk up from the street to the house, but the view from the porch makes the trek well worth it.
We had a fabulous stay! We were 2 families, 6 people total, including 2 seventeen year-old girls. We rented this home for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed much longer! The location in Mill Valley was perfect - nestled cozily in the hills, yet within walking distance to downtown. The house itself is lovely - a wonderful spacious feeling within, crisp hardwood floors, and scenic views. The house is meticulously clean and well-maintained.The bedrooms are also very spacious, with the exception of 1 smaller bedroom containing a built- in bed which had the feel of a cozy nook. We all found our mattresses very comfortable. A couple of mornings we sat at the dining table drinking our coffee with views of the sunrise before us! The house was well-stocked, and seemed as though every detail had been thought of for visitors. Communication with Beth was easy and her responses were prompt. We appreciated her list of things to do and favorite eats around town. We absolutely recommend this experience to future travelers, and Beth, you may want to consider posting new interior photos, because while we perceived this home as "charming" when we booked it, the photos do not fully convey how lovely, spacious, and delightful, it truly is!!!
I rented this place for my family, we had 9 people, 6 adults and 3 children and we all felt like we had plenty of space. The kitchen is fully stocked with every pot/pan/dish you would ever need to make a meal. The house is located on a hill, has wonderful views and is a short drive to San fran, golden gate bridge, Mt Tam, Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Stinson beach, many tourist places. We walked from the house into town for a few meals, such a lovely place. We really enjoyed our stay here. The only downside, is that there are 2 flights of stairs to climb to get into the house, so I would not recommend this for the elderly or anyone needing handicap access. For us, that was not a problem. I absolutely recommend this place!
Our family of 9 came out to spend Christmas with our one daughter who is a traveling nurse. We wanted to be together AND have things to do. Mill Valley is a perfect spot; close to the bay area, Nappa Valley, beaches and state parks. The house is AMAZING! Clean, well-stocked with everything you need to be comfortable and Beth Taska is one of the nicest people we have ever rented from. She recommended great restaurants and things to do. We loved the Phat burgers and the adorable town is only a short walk away. We would DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend it highly. The ONLY drawback would be for people with disabilities--there are a lot of steps going up to the house and steps going up or down from the front door. Other than that, we LOVED everything about it.
