Very cozy split level 100 sq meter/ 1076 sq ft apartment in Monument standing in the water, 5 minutes walk from Central Station with a stunning view over the canal.
Dam Square and the Royal Palace are just a 5 minute walk away.
From Central Station you have all the access to public transportation whether you want to go to: Museums , Airport (30 min.), Paris, Brussels etc.
Great shopping & restaurants within walking distance.
The marble floored entrance hall is unique for its size in old Amsterdam buildings, so is the elevator that brings you to the 3rd floor to the unique “cozy” luxury apartment.
There is a fully equipped open romantic kitchen.
The apartment has central heating, an electric fireplace and heated floors in the bathrooms.
The double pane windows keep out all noise, you’ll not have to worry about a good night’s sleep as many places do unfortunately!
Optional: Baby Crib to be discussed.
Please contact by email for further information.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: NO SMOKING, PETS, OR PARTYING……..
We do live in the same building, so if there are any questions………….
I was born and raised in Amsterdam, lived a while in Germany and also in Spain.
My husband and I had a restaurant and a delicatesse for almost 30 years in the street.
We travel a lot to the US where our son lives with his Californian wife and beautiful kids.
Danielle Le Lorrain purchased this apartment in 1999
Both born and raised in Amsterdam we just love old houses for their unique atmosphere
This house is one of the very few in the old city that stands directly IN the water and has a beautiful view over the city
This excellent apartment is conveniently located in the historic center near train station. Amsterdam is a very walkable city but if you prefer - trams, buses, canal cruise boats are just steps away. The entrance to the building is on a narrow street which is full of life with plenty of shops and restaurants. The red light district is around the corner but we always felt safe, day and night. Pot and red light business aside, the area itself is a beautiful part of the Old Amsterdam. Its history, canals, houses, Oude Kerk (Old Church) deserve tourist attention in their own right.
The apartment is spotless, beautifully furnished and well equipped with whatever is needed for your stay, even tea, coffee, salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. were supplied. The living room is elegant and spacious with big windows overlooking the canal. We loved to finish a day relaxing on a couch and enjoying the view of the city. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable; the powder room on the main floor was a great addition to the full bathroom on the upper level; Wi-Fi connection was excellent. Yes, you can hear the sounds from the street but I cannot call them “noise”. They didn’t bother us at all even at night and my husband is a light sleeper. Seriously, I cannot think of anything negative about this apartment.
Danielle and Henk are attentive, friendly and very helpful. Danielle welcomed us with flowers and a bottle of wine, recommended the places to visit and the restaurants. One day we had problems with a light switch and Henk came to fix it immediately, only a couple of minutes after I’ve sent him an email. We wanted to buy a doll in a Dutch costume for our granddaughter and asked our hosts where we could get it. Danielle and Henk spent their time checking the shops around and same day emailed us the shop addresses and the photos of the dolls. The wonderful hosts make this apartment stand out of other properties that we’ve rented. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
* Owner. Danielle was very responsive to email inquiries, never replying later than 24 hours. She met us at the door when we arrived. She was helpful in answering questions we had. She made the entire process stress free and we couldn't have been more satisfied.
* Location. So many things are within walking distance of the apartment. Central Station being a quick 5 min walk was a key. Able to get on buses, trains and trams to get to any location within the city effortlessly.
* Space. The apartment was very large and had a lot of open space. It was beautifully furnished and spotless.
* Amenities. Being able to cook a meal (refrigerator, stove, dinnerware) helped us to save some money. Washer and dryer would also be critical for those who pack lightly.
* While the living room windows are double pane and keep out the noise of the surrounding area, the bedroom window is not as thick.
* The staircase to the bedroom area is very steep. Though I imagine that this is true of almost all apartments in Amsterdam. Just something to note for those who have difficulty with stairs.
Overall my wife and I couldn't have been happier with the apartment. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy all the city has to offer.
Beautiful, spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, and very convenient. The photos only hint at the beauty and coziness of the rooms. Bed was comfy, plenty of towels, great water pressure in the shower. The ½ bath on the main floor was great for putting on makeup while my husband was showering in the full bath. The kitchen even has a dishwasher! With a grocery close enough to walk or tram, we ate every breakfast in peace and quiet of the elegant dining area. We also cooked in a few nights. Close to the central station (trams, trains, buses), we were could get to all corners of Amsterdam and the Netherlands. We enjoyed a day trip to the Arnhem Open-Air Folk Museum. We travel with only carry-on for weeks, but didn’t need a Laundromat this trip: the apartment has a washer and dryer, soap included! So easy to put in a load, and relax on the big comfy couch rather then a hard chair at a Laundromat. Danielle and Henk were wonderful hosts, showing us all the amenities of the apartment, suggestions on close by shopping, and also invited us to afternoon drinks at their apartment. Every time we opened the door to this 3rd floor retreat, we had to pinch ourselves that we really were staying here.
Truly a gem of an apartment located on a typical curving Amsterdam street filled with shops and restaurants. The living room has huge windows facing a beautiful canal. The owners, Danielle and Henk, were beyond fabulous. They suggested activities, recommended delicious restaurants and their enthusiasm and endless patience enhanced our experience immeasurably. The photos simply do not do this property justice. The place was spotless and Danielle and Henk went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. While this property is near the red light district, unless you actually make the effort to spend time there it is a total and complete non-issue and definitely should not negatively impact your decision. You are steps away from absolutely everything including the Central Station, the garden area of Amsterdam, the museums, the Anne Frank house, and so much more. We could not have asked for a better location and plan to return and stay in this vrbo again.
This property was on the very edge of the red light district but my 15 year old daughter and I felt very safe here. The foyer is locked and secure from the street. The apartment looks just like the pictures, very comfortable and pretty large. My husband joined us for part of the trip and we had to rent a second apt for him so keep in mind that only 2 people are allowed in this property. Danielle and Henk were fabulous hosts and had us to their apt for wine. The location is fabulous, right across the street from the train station, a 3 minute walk which was incredibly convenient because all trains, buses and trams also leave from that location. Tons of good restaurants on the street so you didn't have to go far to find something to eat. If you're squeamish about the legalized pot or prostitution in Amsterdam, just don't venture far off the little street that this property is on although we walked through the area and didn't feel it to be unsafe or threatening. The rest of Amsterdam is beautiful with the canals and small cafes outside.
Fantastic apartment, very pretty and comfortable. The location is very central with lovely views over the canal and easy access to everything by foot.
The owners were lovely and definately made our stay memorable.Thank you Danielle, Hope to come back soon.
Dam Square, Royal Palace, New Church and Old Church
as well as The ST.Nicolas Basilica are within 5 min.walk.
China Town, Red Light District , a stroll along the famous canals or the Vondelpark, all these opportunities just around the corner or within walking distance.
And off course you might like to go to the Anne Frank house, the Rijksmuseum, van Gogh, Stedelijk, Scheepvaartmuseum , Hermitage and many other interesting things .
For shopping we can recommend the 9 streets nearby in the Jordaan.
