The Hideaway is a luxury house for 2 but can accommodate up to 4 with the extra guests sleeping on aero beds on the floor in the living room area. Our property is a unique home and may not be suitable for children under 4 yrs old due to open stairs, fireplace and steep mountain terrain surrounding the Hideaway. There is a $25 or $35 (depending on the season) per night, per extra guest for the 3rd and 4th person or child staying at our cottage. The floor plan is an open design with bedroom above the living room.
Weeklong stays include use of the laundry room in the cottage. A touch-up cleaning is also included with week stays.
Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is 11am. We will accommodate other check-in requests if possible. Plan on additional time to drive thru the Park to arrive at the Hideaway.
Yosemite Mountain Hideaway is located at 6000' elevation in Yosemite West. This unique community is located within the gates of the Park with the best central location for day tripping to Yosemite Valley, Badger Pass Ski, Glacier Point, Wawona and the Big Trees.
The high county of Toulumne Meadows is a 90 minute drive thru mountain vistas, high alpine lakes and forests of giant sequoia trees.
There is access to walking or mountain biking forest roads from the Hideaway. Skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing are a short drive to Glacier Point where you can rent all the gear you need for an epic winter adventure.
Cell service is very good for Verizon and Golden State with 3G service from the Hideaway. There is no Cell service for other carriers. Sorry it's a remote mountain location. A land-line telephone with local service is included and you may use your calling card.
CAUTION: Winter travel thru the park requires all cars/trucks to carry snow chains. Yosemite Mountain Hideaway is located on a steep access road where winter snows may require special parking conditions. Please email or call with snow condition access questions.
We look forward to hearing from you, Melissa and Jeff
Yosemite Mountain Hideaway was designed and built by Jeff and Melissa. Jeff is a building contractor with a background in video production, mountaineering, scuba diving and flying. Melissa is a retired french teacher who loves cats, reading, running 10K's and marathons. We've lived in Yosemite for the past 7 years. Now we want to share our Yosemite Guest Cottage with you.
Jeff & Melissa Hornacek purchased this cottage in 2013
We stumbled across this unique property 17 years ago and fell for it right away. We built our home 10 years ago and just finished the guest cottage this year. We enjoy sharing this special place with like-minded people who treasure the wonders of nature, enjoy quality accommodations in a quiet and private neighborhood.
We have designed and built beautiful homes in the community from large log estates to cozy private cottages. Yosemite Mountain Hideaway is the latest creation of craftsmanship and quality finishes with one of the best locations in the area.
The Hideaway is a new spacious and luxurious guest house for two with great big views of the park and the Sierra Nevada mountains. It sits high above thousands of acres of forests, granite domes and waterfalls in the distance. Its first rate with central air conditioning, whirlpool tub for two, HD TV and full kitchen.
Yosemite Mountain Hideaway is a luxury cottage with everything we needed. It's private, quiet and comfortable. Great location for the Park. My girl loved the decor and the jacuzzi tub for two was great
My wife and I stayed at Jeff and Melissa's Mountain Hideaway four days in May. The views are outstanding and the inside is cozy. The location is great for exploring the park. It is close to Glacier Point and a half hour drive to the valley floor. Jeff and Melissa provided books and personalized information on hikes and other activities in the area, as well as detailed information on every aspect of the property. We looked forward to returning to the Mountain Hideaway after each day of hiking. There is a small kitchen stocked with most everything needed. The property is set up well for two adults or parents with kids. Might be a little too cozy for four adults though. Also note in addition to steps inside the property separating the loft from the living area, there are 50+ steps leading to the property, so this may not be best place for you if anyone in your party has difficulty with steps. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and look forward to returning.
We stayed here for three nights in late April, early May. We were so impressed with this property. The workmanship of the Hideaway is outstanding. The owners have thought of everything a renter could possibly want, including a grill on the deck with views you cannot take your eyes off of. The location is ideal for going to Yosemite Valley. The owners, Melissa and Jeff have thought of everything to make an enjoyable and comfortable stay. They have a book of directions on how to use anything in their property plus books and hiking ideas for Yosemite and surrounding areas. We thank them for our memories of our first stay at Yosemite. What a place. You cannot go wrong.
My husband and I came to this little piece of hideaway Heaven in Yosemite the last few days of our honeymoon. We were in love the second we stepped in the door! We arrived late, so we decided to get up early the next day to go get groceries. well, we woke up to about 5" of snow! We had a rental car that wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, so our gracious hosts (who live up behind their rental), brought us a care package of food to get us thru the day! Fortunately we were able to get out later that afternoon and go get some groceries of our own. They were so hospitable! The next day we ventured out into 60 degrees of sunshiney weather and explored the beautiful waterfalls and mind blowing views! We highly recommend the hideaway cabin to everyone.....and we hope to be back one day to stay again!!! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay! I couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon!!!
Can't say enough about the Hideaway Cottage what an Awesome place to stay. Romantic setting, nestled inside Yosemite National Park. Location is perfect for the adventurous who explore the park and its hiking trails. The jacuzzi tub came in handy after my 9.6 mile hike which included Vernal Fall's. The Owners Jeff and Melissa were awesome to work with. 5* all the way. I plan to return to this property. ~ Don
My wife and I spent two nights at the Hideaway - best decision I made for our 1st wedding anniversary getaway! Easy location to get to-and-from the Yosemite Valley. Short drive to Glacier Point & Sentinel Dome. Well furnished and cozy interior. The scenic, private deck were great for breakfast, beers after a long hike, and star gazing. Jeff and Melissa also provided us with helpful maps, points of interest & snacks/wine for our weekend. I recommend the Hideaway to ALL - my wife and I definitely look forward to our next stay!
My wife and I stayed at the Hideaway for 3 nights to celebrate her 30th birthday. We were hoping for a snowy weekend were we could sit by the fire and read and relax and boy were we lucky! We awoke on her birthday to snow coming down in big, fat flakes and it continued throughout the day; the first snow since December, what luck! The Hideaway was everything we had hoped for, amazing views of the forest below us and the amenities inside were fantastic. The tub was spacious and relaxing after a long day hiking, the fireplace was so cozy and warm, perfect for cuddling up on the couch with a good book (which there were plentiful of). When we felt restless we drove 20 minutes or so to Yosemite Valley for hiking or went outside to make a snowman (a first for me!). It was the perfect birthday weekend. We cannot wait to go back!
We're the best location for fun in the park from Star Gazing at Glacier Point, snowboarding Badger Pass, horseback riding in Yosemite Valley or willife encounters on the hidden trails of the high country.
